Yep, I'm making a site devoted to game magazines and I'm looking for hosting space. Now, if you happent to have lotsa space and traffic and want to host my site, that'd be superb, but I'm not expecting it.

On that note, there was a Google ad on here for siteground.com that seems pretty good -- 1gb of space, 10gb of traffic (+$2 for every gb thereafter), 5 mysql databases, etc. On the other hand, that doesn't sound like a great deal of traffic to me, so maybe I should spring for something like lunarpages, which is $7.95/mo with 40gb of transfer.

Anyone got experience, recommendations, etc. for that sort of thing?

They have excellent customer service and features, and decent prices...

Full PHP, unlimited SQL, very high amounts of traffic, lots of space... If you go with them you won't regret it, as I have with some other hosts...

Surpass has been very good for me. Been using them for a year.

My only complaint is that you have to watch the main site, becuase they don't automatically upgrade you to their new hosting plan if they switch.

For awhile I was on their $6 a month 700MB plan. They upgraded to 3000MB and I had no idea.

As I said, I love them.

I had one weird problem once. SOmehow my control pannel password got corrupted, but they had it fixed in a day. No complaints here.

I can host your site.

All of the other offers that have been posted in this thread are for "economy" shared account servers -- they may have 150-300 or more sites on them, depending on the ethics of the company, how much they spend on their customers, etc. This means crappy performance.

I can guarentee you that performance will be top-notch and you won't have the sort of issues you would with el cheapo webhosts. You'll have the standard FTP, POP/IMAP, SMTP, subdomains, MySQL, pointer domains, and so forth. If you need any services other than the standards, we can certainly discuss it. Any accounts on my machine will be shared accounts, but there will not be near as many as there would on the $4.95 a month hosts.

PM me and we can discuss what sort of deal you are looking for on a shared account. I don't currently have the facilities to offer a dedicated server, but I can point you in the right direction if that's what you're looking for.

www.hostgator.com is great, though a little pricey. I've had goodcowfilms.com on there for over a year, hosting over 120,000 files, and had 28GB transferred in a single day, and the site remained rock solid and fast.
