Indie Bundle Thread - There's another one?

well the first bonus is Sound of the Human Tanks at 1500 bundles (aka it already started)
we will have to see what other bonuses come, as that one should be hit pretty quickly

Yeah I noticed heh.
Are Yousei and Cafe 0 visual novels? How are they, cuz their art is not appealing from what I'm seeing...

Are Yousei and Dream 0 visual novels? How are they, cuz their art is not appealing from what I'm seeing...

assuming by dream 0 you mean CAFE 0 then yes they both seem to be visual novels... on desura yousei is $15 and rated a 7, and cafe is $10 and rated an 8.5.
yousei uses a free to use visual novel engine, cafe uses an unknown engine.
I don't know much else about them though as I have played neither, but it seems like of the two cafe 0 is likely the higher quality game.

if you end up getting yousei and liking it though, it seems the creators have another game on desura and it happens to be free.

I just got the Deep Silver Humble Bundle before realizing that, at least, the game I was most interested in (Sacred 2) does not have Mac support.

Does anyone know a quick way to check which games have Mac support and which don't?

Though apparently all of the games are Windows only as per one of the notes towards the bottom.

Fire it up on Steam for Windows. Buying the Humble Deep Silver Bundle gets you the games for Windows through Steam (system requirements here). For your listening delight, you also get a collection of DRM-free soundtracks in lossless (FLAC) and/or MP3 formats!

No Mac OSX anywhere on that page, sorry man. :\

Thanks for the link, I guess I'm gonna have to check each game individually, right? :/

It sucks I didn't see that comment on the HB page.
I'm don't usually play on a computer, and I'm really not used to game not being compatible. :(

It's not really your fault since Humble Bundle set a precedent to have games available on Windows/OS X/Linux with each bundle but the big name publisher ones like this apparently don't have to pay much attention to that. Either that or HIB has laxed on that request.

So yeah for future purchases make sure you double check below for the system requirements or mention of OS X first.

Can anyone talk a bit about the games? I'm interested in Yousei, Yatagarasu, Cherry Tree and Croixleur, any other I should be interested in? War of the Human Tanks actually seems interesting, but I'm really not into strategy games.

PSA regarding Croixleur: If the game is Greenlight, Nyu Media won't give Steam keys to those who got it in this bundle.

They have tweeted this:

I can understand their reasoning, but I think it's a pretty shitty move nonertheless. According to the Groupees chat, they've decided this after watching La-Mulana's lack of success, which they attribute to appearing on the Groupees Retro Bundle before its Steam release.

I'll get Cherry Comedy Club and Ether Vapor for the cards, I'm not going to lie, but I've already downvoted Croixleur on Greenlight afer having upvoted it since I first saw the game long before this bundle started.

This is really stupid.

Well that's lame, time to change my vote as well maybe, i'll wait and see if they comment on this again.

Funny thing is, it states:
"** Once Croixleur passes Greenlight, we will provide Steam codes to anyone who purchase Croixleur through any other distributor!"
Someone from NyuMedia is in the Groupees-Chat right now.

It just seems NyuMedia wanna use this chance in the bundle for people to vote for it on Greenlight, to get some exposure...
It really is kinda shameless.

Yaaaay! :)

Already bought anyway, but that's good to know. I do think they had a point, but it was still stupid to include in a bundle like this where you expect the game to give you steam keys and the page even says so.

And there's also the publicity factor, right? I think the game looks pretty cool and I'll probably like it a lot, but I'd never get to know it if not for Groupees, even if it ended up on Steam I'd probably never even hear about it. Just like I only got to know Fairy Bloom Freesia because of Groupees :)

Extremely dumb move by Nyu Media aside...

Yatagarasu is a pretty decent fighter. It has problems picking up the diagonals on my controller though, so I might need to wait until I have a fighting stick.

Looking forward to the extended version.

Here is something I posted about "War of the Human Tanks" earlier.
Did you write up impressions on MM or WotHT? Dont remember reading many impressions on those two.
I guess I can write something for War of the Human Tanks.
It is a top down tactics game with an interesting story that is presented like a visual novel. Basically it is a world where tanks are humans, at least similar to humans. They are loyal, and dumb enough to stay loyal.
This one is a screenshot from the tactical part:

Awesome.

Followup: Which games from this bundle redeem on Steam?

Followup 2: Excluding what redeems, which are the ones worth getting?

You can see what games redeem on Steam from the site.

Cherry Tree and Ether Vapor Remaster, that's it as far as I can tell.

Yatagarasu is the non-steam game that I'd recommend. It needs applocale to run properly, and it still feels a bit rough around the edges, but it's a good fighting game.

EDIT: Croixleur is pretty fun as well I guess.

Went ahead and grabbed them all. For 4.50 I'm sure ill play them all at some point. Not to mention these are the sort of games I'd like to see more of.

so I don't see them mentioned but the groupees bundle has already unlocked 3 bonuses
Sound of the Human Tanks
Pester
Jisei
and at the current rate Kansei will likely be unlocked later today. I wonder what other bonuses they will add as they started off with just 2 at launch and are now up to 4.. I think sakevisual is out of games to add to the bundle now (at least by their site they seem to be) so maybe the next bonuses will be from a different company.

Can anyone give me some background info on Yatagarasu? Can't seem to find much of it. although there's a lot more info on it's extended version.

Does vanilla Yatagarasu have netplay? Any sort of community for it? Just wanting to know if it's even worth playing at this point with Attack on Cataclysm (thus making it obsolete?) coming out. Thanks.

Is it safe to say the Cards propulsed it above the previous Groupees bundles?

I'm guilty.

I ended up crafting both badges. While the Ether Vapor stuff is pretty worthless, some of the Cherry Tree High goods, even the common ones, are still worth quite a bit. Understandably so, as you can't get these, um, kinds of profile backgrounds from most games on steam.

New Humble Weekly bundle up: https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly

Games:
Uplink (+Android)
Darwinia
Multiwinia
Defcon
Source code for the above games
Voxel Tech Demo (Windows only)
City Generator Tech Demo (Windows only)
Prison Architect ($19.99+)

Darwinia looks interesting, but I dunno if I want the others. Is it worth $1?

Yes. DEFCON is amazing, I used to put AI vs AI on as a screensaver all the time. PLus the music is very atmospheric. Uplink on Android should be pretty fun as well.

$20 for a game thats in alpha? Are they having a larf? Prison architect is not worth that in my opinion. Not sure why they are charging such exorbitant prices for it. Minecraft was half the price when it was in alpha, and that had MUCH more buzz surrounding it.

They've repeatedly explained "why they're charging so much for it", and it's not because they think their game is a Minecraft killer. It's because they want to make sure alpha testers understand they're getting an alpha and are willing to commit to that, not give the game bad WoM, not waste their time with support requests on typical alpha creakiness, etc.

You can't do anything wrong. I have no intention to play those games but just bought the bundle. Didn't need the Steam keys though.

blah blah. Then why are they shoving it into sales wherever they can? Well? I'm sorry, but it really really doesn't make sense to me.

Because all of those sales are moderate discounts causing a moderate number of units to be shifted, and exposure from sales is relatively predictable so it allows them to expand their community at a predictable rate as the game gets closer to completion? And in the mean time, because despite what I said before, they do still need money coming in to keep the lights on and spread word of mouth?

I've read a ton of comments/views and they all say it's not worth anywhere near that price.

Why someone would pay $20 to test an alpha for a game that's light on content is beyond me.

I still don't buy that. You can have more exposure by bringing down the price and by going into all kinds of "sales", but then you can just lower the price in general (for an Alpha version, nevertheless). OR you can go the "We just want very dedicated players" thing Minecraft did (for far less money during Alpha stage) and keeping your initial userbase somewhat exclusive due to pricing.

I don't see at all how "Okay, we want MORE people, but not too much, so we only lower our very high price to a kinda somewhat moderate price during a sale". It just doesn't make any sense to me, maybe I'm just to blind to see it.

For me it's completely worth it.

I find the game is really good, the content is not that light and is becoming bigger and bigger after each update. I clearly believe in Introversion, so I wanted to give them my support (I bought the game for 29.99$).

I did not really buy it to test the alpha, I bought it to support a developer that I like and to allow them to produce the best game they can.
