Quoting for new page:

Soon cool news: Pixel Piracy is now being published by Re-Logic

It's been a long time coming, and we've kept it under wraps for a month now, but it's finally time to let the world know about our collaboration together!

Working with them is amazing, they are very professional and extremely humble people who strive to give the utmost quality to whatever they put their minds to.
Pixel Piracy is the first project outside of Terraria that they have undertaken, and it is an honor to be working alongside them!

For those interested in Infested Planet, here are some nice impressions from the RPS comments:
I really like the frustration in this game, I thoroughly enjoy it. The satisfaction from winning is immense. That moment when the tide turns from being brutally assailed on all sides to surrounding the enemy hives with siege turrets and knowing you bested the swarm is second to none, for me.
There’s a great sense with this game of “Yes! I’ve cracked it, I’m invincible now!” And then the game throws a wrench in the works with an inopportune mutation, suddenly you’re being pushed back on all fronts, and then you have to scrabble to figure out some way of surviving.

I’ve finally beaten the campaign, and I can assuredly say that I had to make use of every trick I could think of.
The game is great fun, and while it can be exhausting trying to slog through literally tens of thousands of aliens in a map (though usually not quite so many) — and quite rightly exhausting, at that — the sense of accomplishment when you turn the tide is very thrilling.

This is a game where you can have a firm beach-head become over-run, and then you might find yourself scrambling to establish a new “safe”-zone on the opposite side of the map, from which (hopefully) you manage to push to a total victory.

That kind of flexible tactical experience is sorely lacking in a lot of games, and I’m really digging how Infested Planet operates.

Nom Nom Galaxy, formerly Pixeljunk Inc., is now on Early Access

Can get it for $9 here. Hurry though, limited supply!

Awesome,grabbed. Thanks.

Cant argue with 6,66€ vs 19,99€ on Steam. Crazy that the stupid $ conversion changes it from a 50% to a 30% price in the corresponding region.

Man, Nom Nom and Running With Rifles today = awesomness!
At the moment, Nom Nom is gamepad-only; devs are working on refining the kb/m controls. Should be working tomorrow, according to their comments on the Steam forums

I know Dead Years looks similar, maybe too similar to Zomboid but damn, the art style and atmosphere
Getting a sense of tension that isn't present in Zomboid from that screenshot

I'm such a sucker for things like this, you offer me a limited deal and my brain goes from saying 'shall I buy this game Y/N' to 'did I buy that game Y/N.'

Oh well, it is Pixeljunk so even if Nom Nom is a total disaster then I can't see it being awful.

Aaaaargh due to a series of bad calls I'm left with enough money to either buy smokes for the rest of the week ..... or buy Nomnom.

Guess I'm quiting earlier than expected.

Hah, yeah. I was like "Looks cool, but it's $20....eh" to "$9! A new Early Access game isn't going to that cheap for a long time, bought!"

Also, Running With Rifles is now on Steam:

Only Played online. But could have sworn there was local (as in multiple PCs). Hell think the first few months of ownership it was only local. Will have to confirm though

Edit: I'll check for you once steam stops acting up

Cheers brother.

It's a real bugger that steam craps itself the minute I buy Nom Nom Galaxy, it's almost like Valve knew.

Ok checked my older copy on Desura. Although there is no setting for it, you can connect to a manual ip. So player 1 would create a game, activate it (not list it in public) and then player 2 would manually connect to the ip. (using internal IP)

Edit: The version I have is pretty old so no idea if this changed with Steam btw. So bear in mind that it might be different .. but doubt it.

Currently debating gender neutrality with people on my article over at IndieGames.com for Alone With You. I'm a little miffed at the closed-mindedness of some people.

http://indiegames.com/2014/03/alone_with_you.html

The debate centers around the fact that the dev said the character is gender neutral. People are upset about the term "gender neutral" because the character "looks female" and is wearing pink/purple and a scarf. I argue that the color scheme and scarf do not denote the character's gender, and that the character "looking female" looks just as male to me.

Anyway, the game looks cool.

Don't you know men aren't supposed to wear girly colors? In all seriousness, if I were shown that character without knowing anything about the game I'd assume it was male, in all honesty.

The games sounds like it's going to be really good. I enjoyed my time with Home.

Too tired to go into full debate mode, but yeah, those arguments are stupid. If anything, we need way, way more characters that dont rely on gender identifiers so people can stop associating colors/items etc with certain genders, which would also open up a huge variety of character palettes that this genre basically never dipped into.

Just in case someone is wondering about my absence the past few days, blame From Software.

"Retro Game Crunch" came out this month! Its a pack of 7 games, 6 of which were made in 6 months. Its kinda nes inspired.

Me and lisa have been trying some out for our channel

Part 1 of the first game "Super Clew Land"

and Part 2 of the first game "Super Clew Land"

So far we've played 3 (super clew land, Shūten and Wub-Wub Wescue) of them but I'm not sure if I'll put up videos of them all. Don't want to spoil it for everybody also not sure if theres interest in these.

You can get the bundle over at http://retrogamecrunch.com/

I've been enjoying them, nothing to deep just nice games. anyone else here played them?

also does anyone know if you can embed videos here? or should I just keep to image links like this? also how do you make an image you post smaller? or does GAF resize them to fit?

No embedding, but if you put a quote tag around a picture it gets decently resized. I think GAF automatically scales images too, but these are usually still rather big.

Otherworld - ????
ntUhM2R.jpg

http://projectotherworld.blogspot.com/

Otherworld is a sci-fi action-adventure game that takes place on an undiscovered alien world. You play as an engineer who escapes from a large malfunctioning spaceship falling into Otherworld's atmosphere. After crash landing, alone with no survivors, the engineer explores, and uncovers a vast alien world and conspiracy. The player must learn to survive in a hostile alien world, and at the same time, find a way to go home.

Running with Rifles - top down tactical shooter

Another random find on youtube. Don't know anything other than the video.

This seems like great replacement for FPS. I love the camera view and potential for great fun as a multiplayer or single. The camera changes everything. I love seeing so much of the map. Aesthetically it's like the an SNES RPG crossed with FPS competition. Intriguing.

I want more attempts at this kind of shooter. Enough FPS.
