inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

You know what would've been a great mechanic to add? The pull the guy off the roof move from Uncharted 2. I'm always creeping up on some guy near the edge, it would be cool to just pull him over the side.

It would have worked well I agree. You can pretty much knock anyone that close with the R1 + X move though, even from the ledge hanging position.

EDIT: Not as satisfying as watching them fall head first to the pavement would have been though. :D Looks satisfying in the UC2 vid.

I haven't been following this game at all. Not for lack of interest, but because when I first started to see footage of it I decided to stay away and go into a game blind for the first time since PS1 lol.

See you guys next week. :D

ars Technica InFamous review

The good

* Detailed, living city to help rebuild, or continue to destroy
* Brilliant writing and character work
* Fun superpowers
* Cut scenes set the mood of the game very well
* Much to do and explore, this isn't a game that will be over soon
* Be a hero, be a villain, it's your choice
* Fresh take on the genre, Cole is a unique and compelling hero
* Solid variety in missions

The bad

* The enemies can be repetitive
* Sewer sections are annoying
* Combat can get frustrating in places

I have to say when i first saw this game i wasn't very interested. The demo and the comic released changed my mind though. I still never really expected some of the scores im seeing. Pleasantly suprised i am

I've been playing the hell out of the demo. I can't wait for this to release, the game trailers review video and the giantbomb quick look plus what I've played have me so pumped for this.

Punch-Out and this in the same month, FINALLY a reason to stop playing WoW again!:D

Fucking Gametrailers. I should have known better to watch that review, but showing the final scene of a boss fight, that's bad even by by GT standards.

My intuition was right then to not watch this. What do I need to be watching video reviews for anyway when it's for a game I'm guaranteed to get?

Final scene of a boss fight? I think you're misinterpreting something. If I were to guess what you're referring to, it's actually one of the first scenes in that fight. The boss clips we showed were very brief.

That's possible. But honestly, what is the grand point of showing any of it anyway?

Then again, why in the hell am I watching this?

You'll have to trust me when I say there's tons of great stuff we didn't show, and we didn't even scratch the surface of the story.

I'm pretty sure they are 100% DRM free, too.

Also, this game "comes out" on the 26th, but we won't actually be able to purchase it till Wednesday the 27th right?

A question to those of you that have the game already: Are there QTEs in the boss fights?

German magazine "Gamepro" mentioned QTEs in boss fights, and so far it was the only magazine that mentioned this so far.

I know what you're referring to, but they aren't as annoying as QTEs.

I just got into the second island, but do you consider button mashing X button 'qte's?

You gotta love this game...

Perfect controls, great action, good mission design, and the cutscenes are very well done.

Anyone know when you get the
Sniping Ability
. Pain in the arse to shoot the enemy in the distance :)

I think it's the last sewer in the first island

Fuck, I'm extremely reluctant to use iTunes (since I'm already using Trackitdown, Junodownload and Beatport). AAC sucks too.

What to do? :(

No. Just "press random button combination I show you on screen for a quarter second".

haven't seen any of that so far, and since the game often has repeating gameplay mechanic, if haven't seen it in the first island, I think it's save to say that there won't be any 'qte' for the rest of the game.

I'm on the last island and I havn't done a single traditional QTE. A little bit of very very easy button mashing is all.

It was the last sewer on the first island, just did it one hour ago. Precision rocks :)

I am on the second island now, and the game still is just awesome... Keep it coming!
