inFAMOUS - The oFFicial Thread

Got this game from the Welcome Back package and played a few missions and I think it's just absolutely terrible.
I can't stand this game pretty much just because the presentation is so sub-par.
Also Cole controls slippery, and the game is just pretty boring overall... it's a TPS but your weapon is lightning bolts.

This was my first mission while I've been searching. Only found 1 out of the 3 I needed. :(
Wish there was a patch that would help out with keeping the shards illuminated permantely or something. So close to a platinum...

Sorry dude guess you have to do it the hard way
http://wikicheats.gametrailers.com/InFAMOUS_-_PS3/Blast_Shards

Btw oyu check the prison in the Warren district lost of blast shard there you coudl have missed.

I did all shards w/o map, /flex

Best option, pop open laptop, look for shard map, save it, open it in paint, every time you think you got it, mark it off, you will get last 3

Last 1 was in the middle of the light district, under a building facade for me, took, 3.5 fucking hours, so many pings

Pro-Tip: Easy Difficulty + Nice Karma, Hard Difficulty + Evil Karma

If you go Nice Karma on Hard Difficulty, your just gonna add frustration, so many bystanders get hit etc. really tough

Just burn through as an uber badass on hard diff as Evil, just annihilate everything

such a good game. Controls are very responsive.

also I was promoted to hard due to my perfomance. I wish more games did it.

I finally beat it last night after restarting two or three times. I really liked the ending, but the last 3rd of the game dragged a little for me. I'll probably wait a while before diving into the sequel since I don't want to get the dreaded Openworlditis.

I thought the pacing in that last third of the game was great. It really ramps up near the end of the Warren and the beginning of the Historic district. I felt once you reach that part the game goes by... um... lighting quick.

One annoyance I have is why are these gangs like US Military trained snipers? Seriously, they fucking hit you from 2-3 city blocks away. Ridiculous.

Started this up today, liking it a lot so far.

How much does your karma matter with regards to the story, at least early on? At the beginning I chose to take all of the food they dropped for myself, which pissed my girlfriend off and now she's leaving me I guess. Would that not have happened if I let everyone have their share of the food?

Just finished Mass Effect 2 last night, where I played essentially a neutral Shepard. Can't decide if I want to be good or bad in this one. The bad powers seem a lot cooler, but I hate running through the city having everyone yell at me saying how much they hate me. :(

i let the people have the food and she left after the broadcast pegged cole as the one responsible. so...no?

picked this up as part of the welcome back program, put about 2 hours into it. i really like it, but when do i unlock the damn grinding mechanic? running everywhere is getting boring.

Just started playing this yesterday (thanks, Hackers) and I'm really enjoying it.

It reminds me a lot of the fun I had playing Crackdown. It's not quite as good as that game, but I'm definitely going to check out the sequel.

Maybe it's just me, but I have to capture every criminal I can. It's almost a tick in my brain at this point.

Really don't like how you can't actually save mid-mission. Some of these missions are pretty long, and replaying the kinda terrible platforming is not fun.

I did it. I fucking did it. 350 shards. And it was in a real easy spot too, how I kept missing it in the other times I combed the entire city, I have no idea. But I dont care anymore. Cause I fucking did it.

Um why doesn't the download recognize my saves WTF?!?

It worked for me. Had been playing off my disc since it first came out. Downloaded the DD version and it picked it up. So unless your save was off a US version and you got a Euro copy or vice versa, I can offer no explanation.

It matters but differently than ME. All the choices are black and white. Not sure if you can play it neutral going by trophies...

This post has me dying.

Okay, my initial impressions were premature, I'm starting to like this game.
I still have issues with it, and I wouldn't call it an amazing game or anything, but it's pretty good and I'm having fun.

Are the chain link fences the highest point you can get on the giant tower? I'm on the highest one but other than jumping on some invisible walls I can't figure out a way to get up to the crane.

edit: I just stickied someone from up there. So fucking awesome!

Yeah, this is my biggest annoyance by far. Just picked up the game again, Ive had it since launch, trying to plow through to the end so I can play the sequel which looks fantastic.

I must suck at this game. I have the 20% damage reduction, but man, I can die quick regardless. They shoot with amazing accuracy and the shots hit hard, you cant take many it seems to me. Its like walking into a beehive sometimes. Not tough at all individually, but you get enough of them, up on buildings, down the road, on fire escapes, behind cars, and you just get stung to death because they have every vantage point covered and rarely miss.

Ordered from Sonystyle.com and boy am I regretting it. They sent me this today, "Estimated Ship Date: On backorder. We will notify you by e-mail once your order has shipped." Plus, it'll take another 3 to 5 days to get to me once it's in stock.

I hope you mean you ordered inFamous 2 from them, because i1 is free.

Got this from the Welcome Back package. Quite enjoy it, despite the camera being borked at times, no ability to save during a mission (loading a saved game will force you to start a mission from the beginning) and enemies out the wazoo, making the game hard as fuck, even on easy, at times.

Beat this last night from the welcome back thing. Overall enjoyed it, but it got more annoying as I progressed. The balloon mission was fucking stupid, it was nearly impossible to reach the areas without waiting forever, and the enemies perfect aim gets annoying. I hit some weird bugs where the screen went completely black and I died out of nowhere also. I have 2 now and I'm about to try it, I can see it easily fixing a lot of this stuff. Not really a fan of super sticky Cole though, I enjoy the movement aside from climbing.

About 4-5 hours in and I'm still having a hard time following the story. I don't know if I'm not paying enough attention or if the exposition is a bit foggy. Who these characters are, what the relationships are, why we're doing what we're doing and why they're involved with Cole isn't exactly clear to me (yet?).

As far as the game itself goes, I'm really enjoying it. Going from one place to another is usually tedious and uninteresting in open-world games, but traversing buildings and jumping from rooftop to rooftop is a blast.

You know you can rewatch cut scenes/movies?

I do now. I'll get on that next time I fire it up. I think I was just having too much fun running around and wasn't really paying attention to all the chatter.

I dont like it. I downloaded it as a welcome back game and am not impressed.
sluggish controls/physics, generic look and characters and missions. unspectacular world, annoying enemies from everywhere .

They did a pretty poor job with the story in this one. It moves too fast and doesn't really give anything - characters, plot elements, whatever - any time to develop. Then you have huge, major events just kinda happen with absolutely no build-up.

EDIT: Wait, this is the thread for the first game. What the fuck.

When you guys get the
lightning bolt power
the game gets pretty intense. There's no limit on it and you can just wipe out groups of enemies with ease, which alleviates most of the super AI issues since you can dominate them.

Coming from the 2nd game, they added in powers early on that let you deal with groups easily, so it makes for an overall better experience since when you start getting overwhelmed you can just wipe out a bunch of them at once.

I wasn't a big fan of this game either until later on. It kind of opened up at the end and finally clicked. The ending was really good too, IMO, so I urge you guys to keep at it.

So I looked at your spoiler, since this is the infamous 1 thread, and I got an endgame spoiler for infamous 2, which I haven't finished yet. That sucks. :(

I just beat the game. Good ending with Cole dead. Is there going to be a Infamous 3 ?

Wrong thread, bub. You want to go here.
You should mention that those are spoilers for inFAMOUS 2 before someone who hasn't played it yet highlights it.

K need help. Downloaded PS3 version from Welcome Back package.

When I start up the game it goes to the intro movie and I can't seem to skip it. The hell is going on? Why can't I just skip it? Is there even a main menu? It just boots into the game I guess at the last save? The movie takes forever.

If, by intro movie, you mean the Sony Computer Entertainments Presents and Sucker Punch logo, then no you can't skip it. And no, there's no main menu. The game simply loads right into the latest save.

Its not supposed to play the intro movie after you start a New game for the first time. And no theres no main menu. If you want to start a new game. Save your current game then press start and go to start new game and voila! You can have 2 saves and decide which to play. keep in mind that the game loads the most current save. Even if its an Auto save.

Hm weird.

I started a new game and played for about 10-15 minutes, saved it. When I came back to play again it did that intro at the beginning of the game, talking about some biological thing, explaining what's going on in the city.. "day 1, day 4" etc. then it showed me on top of the roof with the TV stuff, which I had already done. It didn't start me from the middle of that blue explosion at the very beginning of the game like before.

I'll just play for a while, save at a further point, and see what happens when I load it next. Thanks both.
