Infocom (and IF in general)

I can't believe it. Over years, I've tried and tried to sit down and stick with an IF game. Christ, the only one I've finished is Photopia, which is devoid of puzzles and really short.

Yet, somehow, I put hours into Zork yesterday. I made maps. I made maps. Today was mostly Nord and Bert Couldn't Make Head or Tail of It. The latter, especially, is rocking me like a hurricane. Finished the market (fuck that salmon) and Jacksville (fuck that
Jack Frost
).

I might give Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy another shot. Fuck that tea/no tea.

Back at school, I've got the Macintosh Infocom Masterpieces collection. I'll have to see if I can get zfile data out of those, and the PDF manuals will be nice...

My suggestion to all: grab Frotz and play some of these if you haven't. Obviously.

Playing Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy again would almost be like stepping into an alternate universe. I still have the box, but I lost the floppy a long time ago, not that I have a working Amiga anyway...

QFT. A Mind Forever Voyaging is probably my favorite Infocom title, it's a good one to start with I think.

And Photopia is awesome. Pretty much all of Adam Cadre's IF is, actually. He's an extremely talented writer.

I have the Infocom collection for Amiga somewhere and I actually have a working machine, although not at the same place. Anyway, finding an online version should be easier.

I wonder if a young Osama played this.
