The arcade near my house just recieved version 2 of this game. Has anyone played it?
My car is the Honda S2000, and I won the very first race. Seems like a very cool racer, it was pretty intense plus the card system should be cool.

From what I've played, the game is a decent racing title. However, the music that plays during the race is horrendous. It's hard to get the blood pumping during the race when some cheesy J-pop star is yelling SPACE BOYYY!!!. :lol

What kind of car did you use? I really like the sense of speed it gives you when going into a corner.
Yeah, the music can interfere with my enjoyment a little but when racing I tune all that out.

That's the music straight from the anime. As much as I hate the genre, I thought eurodance went well with the type of races in Initial D, in a cheesy way of course.

My friends and I were really in to the arcade game in the summer of '03. This past summer my arcade got Ver. 3, they added a few courses and some new cars. Don't be a pussy and use an integra if you're playing Ver. 2!

Are you kidding me? Nothing is better for racing that Eurobeat! What would you rather listen to some crappy Fast & Furious bullshit, or how about some EA TRAX (There's a reason why I turned the music off in both Burnout 3 and NFSU2)?!?! Besides, it does come from the anime.

Isn't move's Gamble Rumble featured in atleast 1 of the ID games? That song is awesome and fits racing games really well.

And why hasn't one of these games been released in the US yet on the PS2? The series is popular here and so are the arcades so its not making much sense.

I'm pretty sure Gamble Rumble is in v2. I used to be huge on Initial D, but only in v1. Basically because I used to work at Playdium, I only played v1 because that was all they had and I never moved on up to v2 I used a Trueno back then and not the top tier FC, my best time on the downhill being 3:02 something I believe.

Anyway don't use a DC2 (Integra) in v2, it's the best car in the game. When I tried it I felt like I was cheating :lol Try a Capp. once you get used to the drifting for something really fun

I couldn't believe how much fun the game is when I first gave it a spin. And it's the only racer out there where I prefer the in-car view (I'm always a just outside of the car view person).

And you only got ver 2? They had 3 at the Gameworks in Seattle...

Well, I haven't been to the arcade for a while so it's possible that they could have had the machine for some time now .. which I doubt. It's not the best arcade in the world and has turned into one of those "namco arcades" so we have plenty of Soul Calibur and Tekken games.
I think there's a Gameworks in Philly.. maybe I'll drive out there and take a look.

I'm so happy i beat the game 4 times for under 20 bucks. It was so fun to kick guys asses with my cars. Then version 3 came out. And i wasnt gonna spend the 5 bucks to upgrad to the new cards. What a stupid reason to quit.

Wow, they charged you $5 just for the card? That's insane. It's only $1/$1 over here and I feel as though that's a little steep.
