Should Capcom do a home arcade system?

With the positive reception to Plaion's NEO GEO AES reveal. How about Capcom? Their arcade output is enough to carry such a system and many of their games are venerated. The just don't have the legacy, the hardware and MEGASHOCK luxury reputation, they would have to design a new piece of hardware and an arcade stick.
They *had* the CPS Changer, but that's a super rare supergun type device for home use with SNES controller ports. It never took off, there's only 11 games and it sold a couple of 100 units in Japan. It's also hideous, not sexy at all, just look at it!

It's a turd, but it's a holy grail turd.

Vertical games would be a problem for CRT users with regular TVs, but there's some interesting possibilities if the ASIC chip can handle the logic for all CPS configurations and older Capcom boards (or just add more). Maybe even a new virtual CPS4 for new games by Capcom & third parties.

This might not be exactly what you're requesting (sounds like you want a small system), but if you want a cabinet, check your local Best Buy. They've been having buyable cabinets on rotation. Sometimes Capcom stuff ends up there:

Not sure if the price is still the same but they used to go on sale for 300 very often a couple years ago. MK was in the rotation too:

I've been thinking about this. Imagine if they released a home version of the CPS2 or CPS3 that could run the actual arcade JAMMA boards, and then re-released some of the games and it was compatible with the original hardware too.

Could be cool...

edit: On second thought, all they need to do is give SNK the ok to release SvC Chaos on the AES+ and then they should keep cooking on their modern games.

Don't know about the first ones released, but I hear the quality went to shit fast. They kept throwing out new ones and the quality control isn't there

I'd be all for it with physical media of some sort. But they would be missing that special sauce that the Neo Geo Nostalgia has.

They could go the Tairo Egret Mini route with a tilting screen, 6 button layout.

They did it in the past, and I have one:

Capcom's best possible move would be remaking the best Capcom arcade games for Neo Geo.
They can ride the Neo Geo wave all the way to the bank.
The price of the physical components required for Neo Geo carts is likely better now than it's ever been in the past.

Neo Geo can't handle CPS games because it had 64 pixels of extra horizontal resolution (384x224). Porting each game would be grueling work and they don't have the "dot artists" for it anymore.

No they shouldn't but someone who SHOULD is Sega, with proper conversions of Daytona 2, Sega Rally 2, Last Bronx, Virtua Fighter 3 to name but a few..

I think they should consider making an amusement park or partnering with an existing one to make a Capcom area. People love their IP.

They should keep doing what they're doing, no point in reinventing the wheel.
There's tons of franchises they've yet to revisit and new IPs to make.

Mmm, thanks for reminding me.

Honestly if there's any company that should do something like OP is suggesting, it's SEGA. Such a huge catalog of awesome arcade games that are still mostly inaccessible outside of buying super-expensive (& dying) coin-ops or relying on dodgy software emulation in more than a few cases.

For some of the more esoteric offerings (those with non-conventional controllers) I think it'd be a neat chance to develop a custom controller for those that could also work as a peripheral for general PCs. Personally I'd be quite interested in an ASIC-based System 32, Model 2, or Model 3 "console"; there's at least as much nostalgia for the latter two as there is for the Neo Geo (and the AES is basically the consolized version of the MVS).

SEGA just needs to get that stick out of their ass and embrace more of their arcade legacy. Or at the very least, give us an ASIC-based Saturn or Dreamcast.

I would love for a company like Capcom to release a full fledge cabinet... available in Fullsize, Cabaret and cocktail size. Then offer a monthly / Year subscription where once a month a new game would be automatically added to you Cabinet.

Initial set up you get Street Figher II, Snow Brothers and Captain Commando. Then each month, you get one or 2 more games added to your cabinet.

Also, a Nintendo Style Cabinet would be tits.

Start with Sky Skipper and Donkey Kong, and each month add on...
