Injustice 2 Roster Discussion & Speculation Thread

Assuming one of the roster boxes is for Darkseid and that Cheetah and Mr. Freeze are premier skins, I think the game might launch with two veterans and a newcomer that the leaker forgot to list. That’s 30 characters in all: 15 old and 15 new.

Yes, Zoom traditionally means Hunter Zolomon and Professor Zoom usually means Eobard but the Professor can be omitted and who knows what the mobile leak guy saw exactly. Safe to say it's either Eobard or Hunter and that alt is the Zoom that was on the leaked list. As an alt I'm not sure how much it'll matter.

Joker not getting in would be kind of shocking as well. It's strange to find myself at a point where I'm doubting if they'll actually include the most iconic super-villain of all time in a DC fighting game.

Plus, Joker was my main in the first game, so I'll be gutted if he doesn't make it.

So, two returning and one new are unknown (if we're thinking 15 new/old). Interesting. Not holding my breath for Red Hood anymore, but I really hope that last spot is for him.

Yes, assuming the official site actually has the correct number of roster spaces. I'm thinking Lex Luthor and Martian Manhunter make the most sense for the remaining veterans. The newcomer could be anyone.

Makes sense as the first DLC character. Get people hyped with a much asked for fighter.

I'd expect him as DLC- they'd want a big name to anchor their season pass.

It's Barry and the TV show is hot right now, so yeah it's very like Eobard. Flashpoint too. I mean it could be Hunter just because he's popular with a certain comic book crowd though. Either way I doubt it'll matter much for an alt and the two characters more or less look the same.

Also the glowing red eyes are an Eobard thing, Hunter's are a bit different.

Yeah, I read a bit of Wally's run as well as Flash Rebirth onwards. When I saw the leak, I just assumed it meant Hunter (a bit weird, seeing as he's Wally's Reverse Flash).

Though as Zero stated, Eobard is the more popular Reverse Flash, so it's likely him.
 
The more I think about it, the more it hits me just how ambitious this game is.

30 characters with more being added, a gear system for different costumes and variations, different costumes and voices, full story mode, fully functioning online with GGPO netcode, probably a small single player mode or two.
 
"GGPO-like" netcode. Boon likes to say GGPO a lot, even though they're using their own rollback, and not licensing GGPO.

Just a nitpick of mine with Boon. Yeah, they did a decent job with theirs it seems.

Sadly, both MKX and Injustice 1 were strictly offline for me as it came a bit too late in MKX for me to learn enough to get comfortable online. I felt too far behind.

Hopefully it's solid day one with this so I actually use it.
 
More likely: since the characters packs are in 3's now, that's what is bumping the site number from 28 to 31

Than 3 characters being hidden from the leaker. Although my heart does yearn for Black Manta...
 
So there's going to be 30 characters in the base game, 1 pre-order bonus and 9 as DLC? Fuck, that's 40 characters in total. Crazy.

Nobody liked to play as Bane. He was almost as unpopular as Killer Frost.

People had tournament success with Bane, he was super fun to use and had one of the more unique mechanics in the game with the Venom levels.




Also, I mained him, owns that he's back.

That's fair enough. At the end of the day, the confirmed roster will be for everyone, not just for me. I can respect the fact that sometimes a character might get in that I might not personally like if their inclusion makes other people happy.

Also poor Dex, Atrocitus needs to put him on a diet, just look at those paws.
 
Cheetah strikes me as the 'we need a female villain that isn't Bat related' slot. You know, the Killer Frost slot.

Don't know who she'd be an alt for anyway. WW and Catwoman seem closest but they both use different weapons.

Is that really something she's known for? She's normally on the other end of a lasso.

It'd be weird if she were an alt for an unrelated character too, but I guess Cold/Freeze aren't really connected outside of a few times where Cold shows him who's boss.

E: also Cheetah is a mainstay of the Secret Society which this game is drawing from
 
Unrelated-ish, but I wish they'd gotten Atrocitus' voice actor from the GL animated series. That guy was amazing, not a fan of the generic Baraka monster voice.
