Another day, another missed chance of a beta code. Why do they have to give them out while I'm teaching?
It doesn't matter this time around, I'm actually pretty sure someone setup a bot to quick redeem these codes. I'm only saying this because I OCR'd the code myself and even that was too slow.

That makes me feel about 1% better, but it is something. I've said it before, but I really wish they had said this beta would be closed from the jump.
Do we know if any character transformation skins are available in the base game or if they're all ultimate edition/dlc only?
The leaked roster is 27 without Mr. Freeze or Darkseid. On the topic of Mr. Freeze, personally I believe he will end up being a mobile unlock skin. If the character select screen on the roster is correct and there are 28 (not counting Darkseid) then without Mr. Freeze, would we hit that number?

28, actually (29 with Darkseid). The leaked roster is 27 without Mr. Freeze or Darkseid.
Mr. Freeze is so weird to me. I keep going back and forth mentally on whether he'll be a premier skin or a unique character. (I know ZeroX03 said he isn't a character, and while I don't think he's a liar, I also don't have any reason to believe him without evidence. I'm taking what he says with a grain of salt.)
- If the leak is complete then Mr. Freeze would be the only character change premier skin on the disc, which is strange.
- Flash and Reverse-Flash are archenemies, Hal and John are both Green Lanterns, and Power Girl is Supergirl from a different Earth. Captain Cold and Mr. Freeze are from completely different series.
- NRS seems to enjoy designing two takes on a similar theme (Superman/Supergirl, Catwoman/Cheetah, Swamp Thing/Poison Ivy), so I don't think having two ice characters would necessarily be overkill. Captain Cold and Mr. Freeze are both incredibly iconic characters.
- Stage interactions are a big part of Injustice, and Mr. Freeze has super strength whereas Captain Cold doesn't. I can't visualize Freeze leaping off of cars like an acrobat.
- While Mr. Freeze has used a smaller gun before, the image that comes to mind when I think of the character is a human tank slowly stomping around with a big freeze cannon. I think of Captain Cold as being an agile zoner with quick strings, whereas I think of Mr. Freeze as being an in-your-face powerhouse with command grabs and super armor. He'd use his freeze beam to get in close and then take off large chunks of health.

What all do you know that hasn't been leaked already? Any premium skins or DLC?Look, for like the third time, I said he's not a character currently. He was not among the playable characters I saw but I didn't say he was completely out or definitely a skin. What I've seen matches the leaked list sans Freeze. I was right about Cheetah and Catwoman, which is the only thing I said for sure.
I'm not trying to antagonize you, I just wanted to talk about Mr. Freeze without someone using your posts as an outright deconfirmation.Look, for like the third time, I said he's not a character currently. While I fully acknowledge Sub-Zero as a likely addition, I wouldn't treat Ed Boon's Twitter poll as gospel. We could just as easily get Liu Kang or Shao Kahn or Shang Tsung or anyone else from MK. I remember people acting like Power Girl was a shoo-in for the first game because she won a Boon Twitter poll, but we ended up getting the loser (Batgirl) instead.Yeah but we're supposed to get Sub-zero as well.

I know, but some characters jump off of heavy objects and others throw them. Captain Cold will likely fall into the former camp, meaning Mr. Freeze (as a skin) will as well.Well technically everyone is super strong in Injustice.

The gadget and power classifications are more in line with traditional canon, ignoring the Superman pill stuff. Raven was a gadget character because she doesn't traditionally have super strength in the comics. Raven throwing a car would be weird. If Mr. Freeze had the option of throwing a car on his enemy or doing a flip off of it, he'd throw it, which is why him being a gadget character would seem strange to me.No, I'm saying everyone is super strong but they still jump off things so it's not a stretch to see freeze like that. I mean, Raven was a "gadget" character while GL, Sinestro, Hawkgirl, and Lex were power users.

I'm saying if Freeze had the option of throwing a car or jumping off it outside of Injustice, he'd throw it. The Injustice move sets are designed in line with more traditional interpretations of the characters -- the characters who are super strong outside of Injustice's story show it in their animations and those who aren't don't. Batman and Harley aren't lifting people up over their heads and throwing them whereas characters like Superman are. The story is there for those who want it, but it doesn't really affect the gameplay. She is akin to GL and Sinestro using their powers to lift things. You say if Freeze had the option he'd do that, I would assume 80 percent of the people in the Injustice-lore with the option to flip off a car or throw it would throw it. Joker would definitely be throwing cars and watching them explode.
They've confirmed that gear in Ranked mode only affects looks. Everyone is on an even playing field in that mode.
And you'll most likely get gear off of playing that mode too.
Yeah, I know. I'm glad they're doing that. I think the thing that irks me is that there are additional moves stuck in gear-on mode. If they were doing that, I'd almost rather they do it MKX style across the board.
I edited my post a bit too late, but I agree with you. Problem with the system that they have is that it adds a lot of depth but it won't to Ranked Mode or to tournament play.
The only way that could work is if all the abilities were unlocked from the get go and usable. But sadly they didn't go for that, for whatever reason
Would have been great for competitive play IMO, with different people having straight up different variations on the character.
Yeah, seems like a big waste. They want people to play the game (and I'm guessing micro dlc for quick unlocks will be revealed near launch) to get gear/new moves but if they have a mode where it's all unlocked it undermines that. But locking out abilities undermines tournaments, at least the full potential of characters and what they've been working on.
If someone wanted to put in a lot of work, maybe they could do a code systems like MK3. You do some button combinations after you pick a character, and when they appear they have the gear/abilities you want. Try to keep it on the sly, haha.
I hate that Superman has an ugly MMA punch by default and that the more "Superman-y" moves are locked away as abilities. I'm fine with modified versions of existing attacks being abilities (like the electric Batarang), but I don't like that NRS is animating brand new moves from scratch and then hiding them away as optional gear pieces. The default versions of the characters should be as fleshed out and representative of the source material as possible.I'm in the "there should be an abilities on mode" camp. Something I've noticed (and I could be dead wrong about) is that with the new characters we've had access to in the beta, they seem to have fewer special moves than I remember characters having in Injustice:GAU. Even in comparison to legacy characters. I feel like some moves I've seen that are abilities should really be apart of the characters arsenal regardless of gear. So far, balancing seems to be quite well done though. None of the 6 characters we've played really feel that bad, or like they're shit tier on comparison to the other characters and I'm impressed by that.
They said microtransactions won't let you buy gear and stuff like that.
They're not stupid.
Still surprised WB didn't push them for it. They probably had dollar signs in their eyes when they saw the gear system.
This is a full priced game. You can't sell shit like the mobile games.
-Looks at Halo 5's REQ packs, Overwatch's loot boxes-
