Injustice 2 Roster Discussion & Speculation Thread

Default Firestorm is a bland fire character, and all of his molecular/transmutation stuff is locked behind abilities. That's dumb.

He could be probably replaced by any fire character and you probably can't tell the difference. There is nothing "firesstorm" about him but he's here because of the CW push more likely

Almost there.

I know, but in the stream they showed off a couple of unlockable moves that make better use of his powers. I wish they were a part of his default move set.

Great stream. Grodd looks almost exactly like he did based on Ketchup and Mustard's E3 preview, which is basically a big bodied mixup machine. Definite main for me. Shame about the extra moves not being equipped. Maybe we'll see some gifs on the NRS Twitter.

Scarecrow looks a lot cooler than I thought he would, he's a definite sub character for me alongside Cheetah. Firestorm is kind of ehh for me. Good zoner, but I don't play zoners. He has a nice mechanical design, but he's one character I won't play.

Next week is Poison Ivy, Catwoman and [to be revealed later]. Looking forward to it~

I feel like every character shown thus far has at least one or two abilities that make me question why the moves are not in the character's base form.

Yeah, it's what I feared would happen.

I don't really know what the solution is other then scrap the entire thing.

If you have them all suck, then it defeats the whole point of it, and you can't have it be tournament viable simply because of logistics. You can't have it be used in rank because that needs to be the standard for how tournaments run.

It's a neat gimmick for single player, but all it does is piss me of.

Giving Batman multiple Batarangs or electric Batarangs as abilities is fine, but I don't like that so many completely unique moves are locked away, especially moves that add a lot to the characters' personalities and presentation. Default Firestorm has four boring fire special moves -- would it kill NRS to give him the atomic burst or dissipation? Scarecrow has some really cool nightmare abilities (crows, bees, etc.), but his default specials are just hook and gas vomit/spray moves. It feels like certain characters are having the soul sucked out of them to justify a customization mechanic.

I really don't understand NRS' decision to make Bane's backbreaker an ability. It's what he's most famous for.

As cool as I think his Scarecros energy waves are, I think his kit is already very well rounded and he doesn't actually need any of those specials baseline.

Like giving him a low siesmo or projectile would be a bit much for what he can already do.

Great stream, I thought. Grodd looked awesome in move set and design...and while it sucks that Firestorm's less generic fire focused moves are stuck behind abilities, I'm happy a few are there at all. I'm not a fan of Scarecrow's default look (not necessarily the design, just the execution of the design looking like it's a little caught between cartoon-y in proportions and horrific in details, making it feel off to me, though I'm sure it's what they were going for), but the alternate plague doctor mask looks really great.

Green Arrow looked fantastic too. Happy they snuck him in at the end of the stream!

Just really impressed with how everything is coming together on this game. Looks so slick and polished already.

NRS is in this weird 'choosing your own playstyle' phase where they have to lock moves away. It was dumb in MKX and its slowly creeping up here in Injustice 2. Flash has so many cool moves but are behind a gear wall. So much wasted potential.

Also Scarecrow was looking really underwhelming.

Yeah, the gear moves in Injustice 2 feel like they are carved off of the characters. I can imagine that after MKX they've come up with good ways to augment a character through changing some special moves, but that worked with a variation system.

With the gear moves all I see are a ton of characters devoid of really fitting moves, like the lightning throw and tornado from Flash. And because of its implementation a ton, if not all of those moves will end up ignored and unseen in competetive play. Seems like a waste.

I'm watching the stream again, and calling Scarecrow's command grab Schizophrenia instead of Split Personality is a missed opportunity.

Think I'm a solid pass on firestorm. I think I'm too unskilled to use his trait properly (looks like you need to know some solid combos) and his skillset looks visually uninspired.

Black Adam lookin fly as fuck though. Hope we get a breakdown next week.

I can already see Firestorm being the new Deathstroke online for us noobs.

I'm in for Superman and Robin so far. Maybe Supergirl.
