Only a fool would buy a mac to play games
What a piece of garbage ecosystem has this got bumped and just reminds me of how I don't want to play games on Mac. Especially when you consider their prices not necessarily the quality of their hardware. I do like the Mac mini though
Another bomb incomingResident Evil 3 available on Mac, iPad and iPhone.
Universal purchase and cross-progress supported

Hardware almost doesn't matter. People do an expensive port of a big game to mac, and they get two or three digit sales figures. Mac owners use 10-year-old kit and are the sort of people who are proud that they don't spend any of their time on computer games.Their hardware is there now. They just need software support. Five year old ports of resident evil games just aren’t going to cut it.
They need things like dedicated ports of the biggest service games. How overwatch never came to Mac is totally beyond me.
Is MAC a gaming paradise yet?
This is why fucking your own sister is never smart guysWhere i live we have a macdrag every spring,we tie shitmacs on the back of our cars and drag them between 2 citys.
Fun as fuck and a healthy amount of booze!
The last time I gamed on my MBP it burnt the hairs off my thighs and sounded like a jet taking off.I have an M3 Pro MBPro and it’s fairly competent at games it can play. There is a smattering of developers who do support it like Owlcat, Larian and Paradox. And I actually like and play games from these studios.
You can also use CrossOver to play non supported games through a translation layer and it’s surprisingly decent for quite a few of them.
That said, yeah, I didn’t buy MBPro for gaming. But if you do have one, between available games, emulation, CrossOver, and streaming, there is plenty to do.
It's an ARM based system with a different set of APIs.What is the the main reason for something like the mini not being able to run most games? Is strictly a developer issue?
That m4 Mac mini is such a good machine. I saw that people are upgrading the SSD themselves I think you can buy 2tb for around $250

I think the problem is that people on the Mac side just don't buy and play these games.
The newer ones? My M3 Pro 14 doesn’t run too loud or super hot. I don’t game on my lap though and do have a protective shell. The last time I gamed on my MBP it burnt the hairs off my thighs and sounded like a jet taking off.

Wrong I actually game on my m4 Mac a lot, steam has tons of Mac games,, crossover, parallels, etc allow a lot of AAA games, emulators, osx more secure, less crashes, has my messages built in, dead quiet gaming and more. For competitive titles I’d never play pc as they are filled with hackers and cheats. So I have a ps5 Pro for those titles.Hardware almost doesn't matter. Yeah, and I have been playing Larian’s, Owlcat’s and Paradox games for a while. Kind of regret a bit not going for 16” screen, but 14” one is just so much better for travel.Palworld released a few weeks ago. AC Shadows is coming out tomorrow. BG3, No Man's Sky and W40K: Rogue Trader have had solid Mac versions for over a year.
Path of Exile 2 also coming to Mac after EA
Obviously this is a drop in the bucket compared to Windows but there is some modern AA(A) support.
Dock to a monitor at home. I have the 32" Alienware AW3225QF and all the "gaming" features work out of the box - HDR, VRR (48-120hz), and 240hz modes.Yeah, and I have been playing Larian’s, Owlcat’s and Paradox games for a while. Oh, at home I have a proper gaming PC. I do have a dock and it is hooked up to non gaming monitor as I use it for other stuff.Dock to a monitor at home. I have the 32" Alienware AW3225QF and all the "gaming" features work out of the box - HDR, VRR (48-120hz), and 240hz modes.
Hey, there is nothing wrong with my sis! This is why fucking your own sister is never smart guys
Except they’re still insisting on an active internet connection every time the game is started. Shame on Capcom.Resident Evil 3 available on Mac, iPad and iPhone.

The M4 in my iPad is being wasted.
I should have just kept my old one.
I regert.
Any chance Apple will flip a switch and load Mac onto this thing?

I think that’s unlikely unfortunately. A more robust OS would be a lot better on the modern iPads. The M4 in my iPad is being wasted.

Stage Manager helps but an option for a more traditional desktop experience when connected to something like the magic keyboard would go a long way toward increasing usability.I think that’s unlikely unfortunately. A more robust OS would be a lot better on the modern iPads.
Yep, proper multitasking especially with another screen hooked up is a must.Stage Manager helps but an option for a more traditional desktop experience when connected to something like the magic keyboard would go a long way toward increasing usability.
Hmm I wouldn't rule out Linux making a big dent once SteamOS really gets going.Fetch isn't happening. Apple will be a gaming paradise about the same time Linux takes over...so never.
Didn't you see the Circana thread, mobile spending is dropping off along with regular console and PC game spending. Why would Apple money hat AAA gaming when they have the shitty but vastly more profitable mobile gaming on lockdown?
Apple pippin flopped in the past, that was basicly a console.

huh?It seems like a chicken or egg situation. But, personally, with M chips coming to most devices, hopefully Apple will include M chip in the next Apple TV and iPad Mini.
This would help expedite playing anywhere. Apple still needs to money hat ports though. This will take years.
Apple should also look to acquire IP for TV, Movie and gaming. Whatever that is. IMO, i was surprised Apple never purchased Muppets, and Seasame Street when they licensed Fraggle Rock. They could have rebooted it all.
Same goes for old ip like Garfield, or CareBears.
They should be looking high and low at IP, imo. Mass Effect (if EA wanted to sell it), Babylon 5, Battlestar Galatica, possibly the Tom Clancy franchise (movies and games).
Things like Ninja Turtles being sold to Nickelodeon for very little is a mistake on Apple, and Disney’s parts.
IP that would likely be cheap.
Twilight Zone
X files?
Comics that are not DC/Marvel (Walking Dead was a great pickup from AMC)
Power Rangers
Hell…things like Buffy, Magnum PI or Matlock would have been good reboots for Apple. Find IP that are not used or has strong appeal to male and female.
Apple needs original IP as well. But having some familiar names to drive adoption would help as well.
Yep, chances of Apple ever wanting to deal with that shit when they can just collect 30% rep in the App Store…huh?
lol you think Apple wants to become a game dev?
