Nexon has a big list of celebrated franchises and releases. The developer and publisher seems to be going from strength to strength, and it's caught the attention of Tencent, which is considering buying the company to add to its ever-growing list of gaming investments.

It was only recently that Tencent announced it had acquired a 15.75% stake in Arrowhead Game Studios—makers of Helldivers 2. This adds to the company's repertoire, and it's reported that Tencent is now eyeing a deal for Nexon.

The news comes from Bloomberg, who suggest Tencent is interested in purchasing Nexon—estimated to be worth $15 billion.

Tencent is "Studying a deal," and the company is on the lookout for "Ways to bolster its lucrative gaming operations." Bloomberg has also said this comes from "People with knowledge of the matter."

Nexon has had a good time recently with the release of The First Berserker Khazan, The First Descendant, and Nexon is also the majority owner of Embark Studios—meaning they have a piece of The Finals and ARC Raiders pies.

We'll have to wait and see if a deal comes to fruition, and whether Tencent wants a majority stake or the whole thing.

Is there to a point where some1 is going to say no to tencent? Besides Microsoft it's the point where tencent is gonna practically own the whole gaming industry

That's the whole point. They come from the land of ninjas and are slowly taking over everything, following Sun Tzu's philosophy.

No. If you spend decades working 90hr weeks after founding a studio and dragging a team through your vision, and release a few successful games, all the value your company has is theoretical until someone buys it. After doing all that work and achieving that much, anyone will want to cash out.
The only reason they'd say no is if it comes with restrictive terms and falls apart in negotiations.
