Intel fires 10.000 workers from their Fab business

Firing workers.

Such a genius strategy.

I see why being a CEO is such an intellectual challenge and why it takes 5yrs of business school to run a company.

..just to come up with the same old answer, fire the workers.

Before the layoffs they had 5-6x more employees than AMD and Nvidia, 2x TSMC, and nearly as many as Apple. The company was and still is comically bloated, to obscene levels.
 
They really thought they could keep refreshing quad core 14nm CPU's for 10 years. Ah shame.
In fairness, Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge were so much better than anything AMD came up with at the time (not least because of the fucking Bulldozer era), it would have been very difficult NOT to get complacent, especially given them leaning on good financial reports over technological advancement.
