My friend had an interesting perspective on the name "360". He said that 360 could imply that it includes all form of entertainment. He had the same hand movement when Gob said "Macaroni-let me finish...Salad".

I think that's an interesting perspective, coupled with the MTV teaser ads, it does make sense.

360 is the new 2000, simple as that. All-encompassing is exactly what it's supposed to mean, and it already had a bunch of exposure through various outlets. Obviously, it also sounds like some sk8r talk, but that's probaby not it's marketers intention.

I think that was the intent behind not going with XBox 2, but they apparantly had a list of possible names (that leaked focus group stuff) and 360 spoke best to the message.

I think part of the hook of the system will be the communication and music side. They are saying that all games will support custom sound tracks, so the hook there is, "Put your entire music library on our HD, take it with you, and then keep listening to the music in the games you play." Seeing profiles, rankings, Live players etc on devices like PDA, computers, phones etc. as they have talked about also furthers the "360" notion.

And yeah, the 360 name has grown on me.

Im sure we'll get a few of those type of games, but i doubt they'd stick 360 after it. they'd just use the 360 logo on the box. and "enhanced edition" or something like that.

Yeah, that is what I think is the primary reason.

But it was just another interesting interpretation of it. The only reason why I'd give this interpretation some thought is because the MTV ads say something similar.
