I just finished watching this on CTV on Canada, and I think it is worth watching. I REALLY have no idea where they're going with it, and I think it should be an interesting ride.

It's all setup, though, so if you're all like "ACTION NOW" this will definitely be a relatively slow moving program in terms of development.

I'm sort of interested in this, but I don't feel like I've got time to watch it...

I don't really have the time, but I was bored and said I'd do reading at 9 instead.

It is currently 9:15 and I haven't started reading yet. Oops.

I'm gonna tape this and watch it later. Of all the new sci-fi/supernatural serials, this is the one that critics are saying has real potential.

Well, looks like business is about to pick up.

The first episode of LOST was pretty boring, as well. Has to set up everything for the future.

You mean when the plane broke in two pieces, the chaos on the beach, people getting sucked into jet engines, the creature on the island, etc? Are you out of your freaking mind?

It had its moments. ;)

I thought the last 15 minutes was pretty cool. Not every show can be as good as LOST but I think this will be good.

It could be ok I guess, we'll see. I think they need to introduce something bizarre because it's a plot we all know really well already.

Yeah, exactly. The next episode looks pretty formulaic, too. They can't carry that for a whole season, though, so hopefully it starts shifting in a few weeks.

just finished.. not bad.. has potential.

i hope all the people whop complained about hassan complain about this show and it's insensitivity to hurricane victims... that would be funny...

hassan? who what when?

A lot of the main actors looked really familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on any of their names or what they've been in. The Sheriff/husband & his wife/doctor/mother lady both seemed familiar, and Russ the ex-husband seemed very familiar.

I saw this and Threshold this week of the "new" sci-fi flicks and I enjoyed Threshold more I think, but we will see. I don't know if it was because Lost had just ended but it seemed like they used a lot of the same sound effects.

Well, the Sheriff was in a lot of stuff. Michael Bay movies (Armageddon, Pear Harbor), Crash, and he was the blind guy in Contact (which was actually on HBO right before Lost & Invasion tonight).

I remember the woman from Cube 2: Hypercube. Pretty good first episode, I'll probably keep up with it if it stays on after Lost.

Based on the pilots, Threshold >>>> Surface > Invasion. As others have mentioned, the premise is very familiar and it will take some creative writing or some real twists to keep a Body Snatchers concept interesting through a whole season. Another problem is that none of the characters seemed particularly interesting or likable. The kids managed to be more annoying than those in Surface.

It's just the beginning, and I'll watch a few more episodes to see where it goes, but I'm a little disappointed since this is the one critics were raving about. As Mrbob said, the first episode of a serial isn't always indicative of its overall quality. However, I wasn't bored by the first episode of Lost or Threshold, and even Surface had its moments. This bored me, start to finish.

Why the **** does every alien invasion have to involve some sort of possession/conversion/assumption of the human form? Surface was looking to buck this trend but then the preview of upcoming episodes says something about the aliens taking our form.

Threshold at least is hinting at real, non-humanized aliens off in some other dimension, but who knows how much airtime they'll get when they can just talk through their human mouthpieces.

I've never seen a hurricane disclaimer before.

They forgot the plane disclaimer though. :lol

The blonde chick was in a hockey show up here called Slapshot. Think she was also in some cheesey made for TV movie about the SARS scare in Toronto. :lol So I assume she's a canuck. Always liked her...got that MILF look going on. And that brunette reporter was just hot as hell. First episode was pretty damned slow, but that was to be expected.

Two reasons:
1. Lowers budget by saving money on special effects.
2. Adds dramatic tension by not knowing who is who is "one of them".

Right, I figured the first reason was probably the case but I'm numb to the dramatic tension it brings at this point, esp. when there are three new shows pursuing variations of it.

I just finished watching Invasion, and it was alright. I'll give it a couple more episodes. I did catch like 20 minutes of Threshold, and that was just stupid.

I think thats what they want us to think. I'm not sure he is though.

I think him and his daughter are... I'll even speculate that they both came down during the previous storm whenever it was that the daughter mentions her mom was killed.

I know they are making it blaringly obvious that it's him... which would normally mean he isn't one... but I still he is.

The cell was down when he claims his wife called him.
At the end they are back out staring over the water... not exactly a picturesque spot.
He's talking to the Pastor... another person who looks to be "newly" invaded...

Yeah they could be all misdirection... but I'm gonna go with the obvious and say yes to the police officer, his daughter, the mom, and the pastor and with the quarantine we'll start to see others being invaded since no one gets in or out...

Ya, I just don't see the hype either in this show. I watched it before Lost so it had nothing to do with going from such a huge high to a a mediocre show. The first ep was just so damn boring. They had a huge storm going on and they couldn't make anything interesting out of that? That was the most boring chaotic storm ever. The end shows maybe it could be good because of not knowing who is who, but ya what a terrible first episode. Fortunately for them, my rule of thumb is to watch 2 or 3 episodes of any given series before writing it off. I know pilot episodes can sorta suck because they have to introduce and set things up. You don't get a good representative feel of what the show is going to be like from the first ep in many cases.
