The thing that bothers me the most is that the lock sound is too quiet. Also, ironically, for the first time since I've use an iPhone I've been having Bluetooth pairing problems.

I also want Siri for all third party apps, not selected partners. I want Overcast to be able to use it.

its a fairly large or fairly minuscule update depending on how much apple ecosystem you use.

They really should package those separately like how google handles google play apps on android, letting them do more frequent updates and not have them tied to annual/biannual releases.

How many more iOS updates before they finally ditch the old homescreen 'management'? Let me place icons whereever already.

iOS 10 will improve the speed of your phone a lot if you have a 5S and above, since it uses the Metal API to improve graphics performance

Just a heads up if you plan on getting this and want to take advantage of the new iMessage Background effects (ie. balloons, confetti, laser, ect). To use it, you need to turn off Reduce Motion. If it is on, the effects will not work

Settings>General>Accessibility>Reduce Motion

I really hope to not have bluetooth pairing problems. Not now....

The 4S is what, four years old? So yes, it's obsolete. The iPad too.

It's a five year old phone. And it's not like the thing magically stops working. But not gonna be shocked Apple is no longer supporting ancient hardware.

It still seems to work fine? I guess you're okay with planned obsolescence to drive sales but I think it's kind of lame. I guess I do enjoy buying a new product every 5 year regardless of the functionality of my previous one, I should start doing that with everything I own it'd be genius.

I'm fairly sure 80% of the things I own are obsolete if I'm using your Apple standard of obsoleteness.

People running the GM, remember to clear your beta profile of the profile section.

Settings --> General --> Profile and clear out the beta profile.

Then you should be able to update to the non-beta builds again.

Planned obsolescence because it doesn't support an OS five years later? Are they supposed to update every model going back forever?

Which of the 80% of the things you own are getting feature updates to improve their function by the manufacturer?

Most of the things that need it? I dno? My obsolete iPad mini is 3 years old if that makes it better or is 3 years still too old? Should we start obsoleting shit the second it hits that 2 year mark of expired warranty?

Oh hey I guess my 4s and iPad are now officially obsolete, great. Thanks Apple, gg wellplayed.

Google supports there flagship phones for 18 months-3 years with security updates, depending on when you bought the phone. You get OS updates for two years from when the phone was released.

The 4s got full OS updates and security updates for five years from when it launched. I don't know of any other phone or tablet company that supports their devices as long as Apple does. Tech doesn't last forever.

Security updates are provided for three years from release or 18 months from when they leave the Google Store, whichever is longer. The updates that everyone cares about are the move to a new version of Android, and those are available for at least two years from release date.

Okay, name some of the "most of your 80% of things" that have added new features recently.

How is it obsolete because it doesn't add new features? They aren't turning it off.

What time do these usually go live? I'm wondering if I can update before I leave in the morning and fiddle with the update at work

Not disagreeing that Android is worse considering my last android phone was obsolete before I even unboxed it since I could only successfully install 0.05% of the apps available. That being said I think 5 years isn't that long. I also didn't buy mine at release so it's probably significantly less than 5 years old for me. My ipad mini is also way less than 5 years old.

2 years is cute.

America is 1 :(
I know, I'm sorry you guys got screwed.

I don't particularly care about new features, I mean I don't use 90% of them now but I do care about app compatibility. Because I've seen what happens next on Android before. Within now and a year every single app I currently use will probably be unusable&uninstallable so that seems like it's essentially bricking my phone.

They already added a feature to allow you to use old app versions--3 years ago:

You're on a videogame forum. Let's stop acting like this is some egregious, unprecedented practice.

Updated to GM on beta a few days ago and man it makes my 6+ run like shit. The double press of the home sucks because muscle memory makes me swipe and it doesn't do that anymore. Plus in messages the dumb hold down to make fireball thing is really odd. I sent a few to my wife and who knows wtf it is supposed to mean then it goes away? How is that useful? Apple usually steals good ideas but this shit is all weird.

you can turn off the double press thing. I've got my 6s set for a single press.
