Just FYI... When you install Pokemon go you grant the app "full account access" to your google account. From Google

"When you grant full account access, the application can see and modify nearly all information in your Google Account (but it can’t change your password, delete your account, or pay with Google Wallet on your behalf)."

You need to revoke access from within your Google settings. You might not care, but I don't want to give full access to my Google data

I haven't finished the game in a while...Can you just keep grinding stuff with your OP party to hunt for items and level new toons that way?

Totally.
You can just forget about the main quests and hop from white quest to white quest just to level up and get new loot.
There are various spots for the best loot, generally the settlements with 3 or 4 connection roads to other villages are the best.

Stop your phones! A massive new update has finally hit Doomsday Clicker!

We've been working on this for a little while now and I'm pretty excited by it! We've added a new additional fun bit to to the game - the SPACE BASE!

GlaR9ZG.gif

Space is where you do all your weird experiments in the game - what experiments? Roomies!

tmHhWg3.gif

Roomies are new, weird characters that you can get in the Rooms of the game - weird, bizarre experiments that we kind of went overboard with. Each Roomie gives you a new perk - like percentage bonuses to locations or rooms, or more chance of gold spawning.

Xm9UwN0.gif

Each character is unique to their room - currently 20 (with more to come), with some fun characters as Swiss Army Steve, Elon Muscular, and Bamboozelle!

Gotta Catch'em all!

Sadly not too terribly excited about this. Too many F2P elements for my tastes. It's not even about the monetization as much as it's just annoying. Also wish there had been a true single player campaign.

I guess I go back to the original, premium version of Table Top Racing (which was clearly inspired by Micro Machines) and think it's better at feeling like the real MM game than even this does.

Oh well, such is life when it comes to some IPs (another even worse example being Dungeon Keeper).

Finally! Have been waiting ages for this, so I'm downloading it now. That said, I'm not too terribly excited, as it seems to be lacking the sense of speed the original game had. Although one should know, that they did get rid of one of the most annoying uses of microtransactions during the soft launch.

[edit] it seems really great honestly.

I don't like the artistic style of the personalities and I can already see a lot of use for microtransactions, and unfortunately it lacks online races which is a big and strange omission. Opening car packs and putting them together is addicting though, and it's pretty great that there are multiple modes like Battle and Elimination besides Races. Controlling the vehicles feels great and using the battle items feels easy. You can also join clubs which I just did, chat with its members and complete daily goals to earn coins and gems. Gems can speed up the process when you upgrade your cars for example.

Man, the phone game scene's completely dead, huh?

Is Pokemon the only interesting game this year?
Huh? Check out the OTs. Tons of ports, follow-ups from popular devs, sequels, and promising debuts and gems. Certainly not dead. Just that paid and premium ganes tend to not get the traction and attention that the biggest free games do

Food for thought from USgamer's Jeremy Parish in an article about Adventures Of Mana:

I had high hopes for Adventures of Mana after hearing praise about the iOS release, but in hindsight I realize that praise meant "It's really good for a traditional action RPG on iPhone"... which, sadly, is not necessarily the same thing as simply being really good, period

I know what he means. Figuring out what's praised just because it fills a niche on a platform vs what's praised because it's genuinely a good game compared to the very best out there is a tough task. Current media coverage doesn't help much. The dedicated sites sometimes have really shallow coverage and tend to be a bit forgiving. The all-platform sites seem to have given up on covering anything on mobile that isn't an immediate worldwide hit (see: Eurogamer).

Some weird apple rule about replicating somethint that looks like an App Store or storefront even tho the app will bring more revenue to apple :/

My friend has an app about sharing your home screen (homescreen.me) and they rejected it for stupid reasons read the reasoning here - https://blog.homescreen.me/build-get-rejected-by-apple-ship-anyway-4fe5b1b8eb4#.icv7euysb

App shopper has the same problem but their app still works in the store. The app shopper website got a nice new look but the app remains the same.

Ah, yes. I heard about the Homescreen situation.

Unfortunately, Apple just wouldn’t budge. A work-around, we were told, was to offer users a simple text area where they can type which apps they use on their Homescreens.

Why, that's a fucking great suggestion, App Review. People would love this!

Lost Frontier is interesting.

It's cool having the best golf game on the phone I guess?

This is indeed a problem in the mobile gaming scene, though I don't think it applies in the specific case of Adventures of Mana since it was known that the game is EXACTLY like the original, just with updated graphics. I mean, I get that he was expecting updated mechanics, but he saw people praising the game but failed to see them mentioning that it was exactly the same as it was?

True. Although that distinction isn't always a bad thing. A game that embraces touch, with tactile gameplay, or mechanics that feel nicely suited for the tablet, etc. Those deserve to be praised. A game that may seem shallow or whatnot on console/PC but shines on mobile because it plays to the strengths on the platform is still good and worthwhile in my book.

Basically "good for the platform" isn't a bad thing IMO. Actually I kind of prefer those, because I can play the best of a genre on PC and consoles. On mobile, I want stuff this is best suited to enjoy on mobile, that is good perhaps because it's on touch

But there are also games that I feel are great regardless of platform. Dark Echo, Device 6, Inkle's work, Monument Valley, and others. They may be better on touch, since the touch controls add another aspect to the gameplay, but they're just as good or inventive as indies I'd enjoy on PC. Those games tend to stand out. That's why they tend to get coverage on the bigger sites. When you got a PC-focused site like RockPaperShotgun praising Hoplite or Dream Quest or 80 Days and Sorcery, you know those games are special

And ports of course, because I enjoy favorite games on the go

Yes! These are the games that I keep coming back to iOS and this thread for. As good as indies you'd enjoy on PC - that's what I personally look for, which unfortunately seem harder than ever to find. But you've mentioned some very good ones - Hoplite is sitting on my home screen, waiting to be opened up, and I will get Dream Quest eventually.

Tried this out a little bit today and I'm pretty underwhelmed (played on my Android phone, but I doubt it's different on iOS).

The core game is fun, but the ads kinda kill it. Every ad seems to be a 30 second video WITH sound that you have to manually exit out of after it plays. And to make it worse, they play every time you restart a level an ad plays, and every time you finish a level an ad plays UNLESS you do all 3 optional objective in which case an ad wont play after finishing. It's a cute idea, but it's hard to get all three of the objectives done on the first playthrough (the 3rd or 4th level had some requirements I couldn't figure out how to do even after replaying 3 or 4 times).

I only played a few levels of the game, but the levels are pretty bite sized, so having to watch so many commercials was pretty annoying even after the few I played through.

There is a single IAP from what I can tell to remove ads and add extra content and features, but it was $5.50 which seems pretty high and it also seems to lock important stuff behind there like ranged units (but that might be for multiplayer or something).

The reviews I just read seem to indicate that the game gets unfairly hard after the tutorials levels, so I doubt I'd have wanted to spend money on the game even if it was more reasonably priced.

A shame, because I'm always looking for good RTS style games for mobile. Love good Tower Defense games like Kingdom Rush and Plants vs. Zombies, and more RTS style games like Eufloria. I'm hoping the Kingdom Rush developers next game is really good since it'll be more RTS style than Tower Defense.

The iAP unlocks the full game and I'm sure that it makes the game fair since you can't buy anything else afterwards. At 4.99 euros here and with cross platform online multiplayer with Android, iOS and Steam plus a simultaneous release on all three platforms I'm happy to help these devs. The game is fun, funny and filles with content.

On another note, Klocki by the creator of HOOK is out and it's absolutely a gem. Great little puzzler that throws a lot of mechanisms at you but never gets frustrating and doesn't overstay its welcome. Highly recommended: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/klocki/id1105390093

Possibly, like I said I don't even think I got far enough to see if the free version includes different units because the ads were so frequent. What I have played I would definitely recommend paying if anyone gets hooked on it. I don't particularly love the humor and it's a little faster paced than I'd personally like, but it is mechanically very solid.

Playing it on my iPad Mini for a bit I will say it's better experience than my phone. The ad I just got I was able to skip the video after a 5 seconds instead of watching the whole 30 (don't know if it was just that ad, or if that's an Android vs. iOS thing). The controls are also easier on a larger screen. On my phone's 5.5 inch screen I was having issues with it sending units to the spot I wanted and stuff like that.

Is it me or does the App Store charts default to free and top grossing? Don't see paid as an option

Edit: never mind. Weird. It's back. Go about your business

I mean, the game is clearly meant to be premium. It also released on Steam today. Those ads are kind of annoying for a reason. The upgrade unlocks a second campaign with resource management, new units that introduce a rock-paper-scissor aspect to the combat, etc.

OK, that's definitely cooler than I thought. I interpreted the in-game description of the IAP as saying that you could play the campaigns for free, but you'd just be hamstrung by only having the base melee units to play with.

I know they'll probably get a ton more downloads and a lot more revenue by having the app be free, but I almost just wish it had been premium from the start just to avoid the confusion I had with it.

It is a pity. I bought the Stratus but with this it is nearly impossible to play racing games. Rush Ralley 2 uses the lower right "trigger" to accelerate and the upper "bumper" to break. Unfortunately the lower triggers are absolute rubbish and you have to press them so much that your thumbs hurt to reach full speed. If you press it normally your car does not go over like 30mph... That is the same for every racing game which uses the lower triggers.

I am thinking about returning Rush Ralley again, though I absolutely love the quality so few people can reach.

Regarding new releases. Combo Critters fits exactly in the Pokémon GO crazyniss since it is some kind of Pokémon-like, although much simpler which actually fits perfectly for a mobile game. I definitely will continue playing it. Also: Politaire is a very eas and short times take on poker and solitaire (I do not know what part is solitaire though lol) and certainly one of the better pine apple games.

In other news, Rodeo Stampede is a bummer, as I thought. The ads broke the neck of this beautiful little game. You simply need to complete too many missions to move on which results in a mass of money. You only play to get your money and do the missions. I ended up with like 70k when I finally reached the last jungle animal and immediately leveled it up to max. It is senseless.

So is there a baseball game worth playing? I prefer a one time purchase of course.

Apparently, RBI Baseball kinda sucks.and Gamevil's MLB's Perfect Inning 3 is filled with so many microtransactions that I literally have no idea how to actually play the game against AI or recruit players.

Hero Seige is all the way down to $1.99 from its $9.99 starting price. Still sounds like a mess so think I'm just going to stay away.

Yeah, I had played it on iOS and PC and it's always just been an inferior version of Binding of Isaac. I wouldn't bother

Yup.

I played it for 10 minutes at work and can already see that this is high-quality material.

I actually like that you can flip tiles more than one space at a time.

Awesome sense of minimalist atmosphere.

Thumbs up!

How does Banner Saga play on the iPad? Wanna dive into it but also want it on the go, seeing as the Vita version is in developmental hell this looks like the best option....

Also, is TBS2 coming to mobile?

I havent played it on phone but it both plays and runs great on iPad Air 2. It played fine on iPad 3 as well but it ran at iPad 2 non retina res on the 3. Native res on iPad Air 2. Not sure about TBS2 coming to iOS yet. I'm not bothering with the vita version unless they do physical where ill get for collection.

Looks and plays fantastically and the sequel is coming "soon" on iOS.
