With such clever retorts like these, it's not wonder you're having problems figuring out how to work your iPhone.

I just saw that. Quite a list he's got going there. :lol

I don't personally ever put anyone on the ignore list, but he'd be a good candidate it would seem.

He'll end up talking to himself eventually. :lol

Anyway, any new games/apps making the rounds?

What the hell? Why am I on Take Out Bandit's ignore list? Seriously? I don't remember ever getting into an argument with him...

Now I'm sad. Somebody's ignoring me. :( Sucks double too because we both love Shantae and want a mac tablet so bad. WTF?

Read my god damn original post before going all Apple Defense Force on me for fuck's sake!

The replacement phone they gave me did not have the most recent firmware, ergo it would not restore from the backup I previously made with a more recent firmware on the device. Dur dur dur.

Go bitch at Apple fanboy, not my problem.

How did you make it to 14k posts? With posts like this, you really should just be banned.

Holy shit at that ignore list. :lol

The dude's got GhaleonEB and m0dus on that list. wtf? those guys are great.

and a TON of other decent, rational posters, too.

laptop shrink sez: he's afraid of debate, discourse and anyone challenging his views. complains about everything but can't handle opposing viewpoints. yup, great attitudes when joining a message board. :lol

aaaaaaanyway, how about that iphone? It now has 17% of US smartphone share and was the number 2 selling handset (including all handsets) in all of the summer. not too shabby.

Why do you even post in this thread? Aside from baiting, that is.

He just gets off on it or something. I'm surprised I'm not on that list yet. What I'm not good enough to make your shitty list TToB? Anyway is there any update on when 2.2 is supposed to ship?

Takeout bandit basically hates everyone and if you've said something in the past to annoy him you'll get on the list.

Personally I don't get why you'd even use an internet forum if you're going to ignore 90% of the biggest posters. For example, I'm on the list for liking xbox, if you all think back there may have been 1 random thing you said or did anytime in the last 2 years.

Remember folks, it's easier to ignore lifes problems then deal with them :D

you could write a script that told you what percentage of every thread he entered was blocked out by the ignore function. :lol

I never had an issue with TTOB but that is funny stuff right there.

How do you guys know what someone's ignore list looks like? Is there a secret button? >_>

EDIT: Oh never mind, there's a whole thread for it and he updates it regularly. :lol

So if I have a MBP and I buy an iPhone, is there anything cool I can do between the two devices?

I'm loosely familiar with MobileMe, but I'm really sure what that gets me.

There is no real functionality difference using a Mac vs. a Windows PC. Although it is a lot easier to make ringtones out of the box using Garage Band.

I haven't even talked to the dude, and I'm on that list. :lol

We're in elite company on his ignore list! It's just you, me, Tobor, and about 90% of the rest of GAF. :lol

So everytime someone calls me my iPhone echo's like crap, either on speaker on using the headset - basicaly I can hear myself after I talk and others can here themselves on their phone. Anyone else had this?

The only great poster on GAF is Drinky Crow and the only rational poster is Vennt.

I don't object to opposing view points, but there is a cut off point when neither side is willing to relent or change their view. Which is why I don't discuss politics with friends, because I'd like to remain friends.

Anyhow, for all my hyperbole I do enjoy the iPhone; but my experience has been quite shit as you can tell since I purchased the phone and owning one in a local vacuum doesn't help since I can't ask a friend, "Hey is your iPhone doing X?"

That said, there's a lot of room for improvement on the iPhone and I do hope it gets closer to the finish line with features like voice dialing (a very absurd omissions, and I fear to think of all the jackholes who are less scrupulous than myself driving around trying to look at their phone instead of the road to find a contact) and Flash support (less Apple, but Apple needs to dangle a carrot in front of Adobe).

Oh, and more customization is welcome to.

I'd like to be able to remove default apps from the iPhone that I never use like Youtube and Stocks. As well as assigning custom tones to text messages.

Me!

I tested it and when taking a call from a land line, the echo was less of an issue.

iPhone to other cell phone though was a horrible echo.

I'll see what my friends have to say about calls from my replacement iPhone.

I've also read that this could be something referred to as "The AT&T Echo". Did some Googling a while back and apparently AT&T is notorious for echoing phone calls when you use their service for some reason. :(

yea man wtf.. I get it too. Both parties have ATT as well

Well, I finally convinced myself that having a good 3G browser on the go and combining 2 devices into 1 was too important, so I took the plunge.

New 16GB Black iPhone in my possession.

Gonna be grabbing one of those SwitchEasy Rebel cases...as they look fucking awesome and I've read lots of goods about them.

Glad to see that it automatically installed my apps that I had on my iPod Touch and I won't have to be buying those again.

...and now I just have the fun time of teaching everybody my new phone number, since I'm transititioning off of a company phone and onto a personal one.

Am I a moron for ditching a free phone? Yes. Am I a happy moron? Yes.

Company didn't want to pay for that data plan?

Btw, you'll love it. 3G browsing + my iPod + my phone makes my iPhone my favourite device ever.

I won't even attempt to ask my company to reimburse my monthly or phone charges, but I will force their hand into allowing my phone to talk to their exchange servers. Our IT guys need to loosen up, and me saving them money by dropping the company phone should give me the leverage I need.

I miss browsing the internet on a good phone oh so much... :D

Is there an official apps/games thread?

I just got motionX poker and GOD DAMN it is like digital crack. I had to pry it from my GFs hands to put it on the charger last night.

So I got one of these.

Really, how hard is it for them to produce SonyEricsson Walkman phone quality output? Suppose it's coming sooner or later.

Apart from the utterly shocking and I mean shockingly poor sound quality and shitty EQ, this is literally the most fuck-awesome phone I have ever owned. Better than my Crackberry Bold.

Very pleased so far. Bloomberg on the go without the need to take my Blackberry around with me is most pleasing.

If Exchange servers weren't as easily raped as drunken Japanese school girls more IT guys would let them out into the open.

LOL, it's awesome.

I bought it after hearing a few recommendations and I ended up getting that achievement gem for making a profit on 14 consecutive days without even aiming to. I've played over eight hours, which is more than I end up playing most 'proper' games :lol

It's really polished as well. So much stuff to unlock and I love how it keeps track of everything.

I've only had it for 2 days and have already unlocked the 100,000 table and all the dice. :lol

Still missing a few achievements.

So I had a Jailbroken phone and I was forced to do a restore per the Apple representatives because I could not connect to the net using Edge or 3G. So I attempted to use Quickpwn again and the program says it successfully Jailbroke the phone but then the phone just stays at the Apple logo start up screen. Im able to restore it again without any issues but for some reason can't Jailbreak it again. Will I never be able to or is there something else I can try? Thanks guys.

Just wanted to give my updated impressions of the iPhone since I've gotten it.

I've noticed already one instance of a Safari crash. Happened when I launched a reply to a topic using ckohler's secondapp.com neogaf web app. I was using Edge only at the time and the page seemed to be loading rather slowly. While this was initially bothersome, tapping back into Safari had me off and running as if nothing had happened. The browser is all I hoped it would be, which is fast and snazzy.

Typing on the keyboard is becoming a very fast activity. The automatic correction feature allows me to keep on blazing through a message, even if I know I fatfingered a letter. I imagine over time I will become a letter assassin and only make mistakes once in a blue moon.

The transition of listening to music, taking a call, and then listening to music again is quite awesome. Smooth and completely logical. Stupid to talk up, but I appreciate the foresight.

Google Maps really isn't as much of a turn-by-turn navigation tool as much as it is a guide. I was using my own GPS unit and had my wife using the iPhone to see how it does. Turns wouldn't be too obvious if using the iPhone only, and distance to next action isn't portrayed. I wouldn't expect GMaps to replace a stand-alone GPS, but I was just curious if it could. GMaps will likely be used for POI finding as I'm walking about and finding places I don't know in conversation. Nifty.

Apps continue to be a joy, as I've had an iPod Touch. Since having the phone I've bought a game (FieldRunner by suggestion of someone in this thread, it's amazing), downloaded midori (fuck is it accurate), i.TV (seems a bit hefty), the Obama app (can't help myself :D ), Stanza (haven't tried it yet), Facebook app (already used to upload photos taken, really awesome), Flashlight (cause it's so silly, but could be useful :lol ) and Twitterific (I don't tweet really, but I just might start). Apps truly make this phone so much better. I can't imagine an iPhone without them.

Visual Voicemail is really rad. My wife was really intrigued that I didn't have to dial out to a number and press dumb option keys. Just click on the message, save or delete, all through the interface. Simple. Awesome.

Youtube app seems a bit weak, as I wish it wasn't a seperate app all together, but it's certainly a step in the right direction. Flash support for websites needs to happen (hopefully this can be arranged through a software update in the future).

Mail is currently setup to fetch manually (by choice), and I was pleasantly surprised to see that I could open a PDF file with ease. Not sure what other file formats are instantly viewable, but PDF is certainly a good one to have.

The camera was hit or miss for me. I took a really clear and good picture of my wife, a mostly clear picture of a stadium, and a not at all clear picture of the same stadium only farther away. It seems like lighting and distance really change things up. Not complaining, just something I'll have to be conscious of in the future.

The battery seemed to drain on me pretty quickly today, however I was using it HEAVILY for almost the entire duration. I was purposely trying to kill it to do a full drain, full charge. I was pleasantly surprised at how long it clung onto life for it's last 10%. I was playing massive youtube videos over 3G to wipe it, and it was able to play 40 minutes to an hour of video before it died on only 10% battery. Not bad at all.

All in all, I'm incredibly happy with my purchase so far. The influx of apps and the quality browser are more than enough to keep my satisfied moving forward, and I eagerly await more updates.

...that's my impressions of the iPhone 3G after owning one for 5 hours or so.

If i go replace my battery through apple under my warranty plan, all they do is just send me a new older version of the the iphone that i own right? Also, how much would i have to pay?

I think it's $59 with warranty, $79 out of warranty.

ok here is my problem. For some reason all of a sudden I cannot get my iphone out of locking mode. I have tried holding both buttons to turn it off and when it comes back on the side feature doesnt work. Is there any way around this besides going to the apple store?
