anyone have any experiences with graphing calculator apps from the appstore (or better yet cydia)? looking to get one (price not really an issue) as it'd probably come in handy.

also.. what do people consider the best winterboard theme?

Glass Orb is clearly the best theme. ToyVan always updates with new icons too :)

Oh God, is there any way to turn off the 10MB limit outside Wi-Fi? It's retarded that I can't download podcasts on the go because they're over 10MB. I have a 6GB data plan for crying out loud!

Yeah, I have the same "issue" here with the same plan that you have. I tried downloading a podcast over 3G and that same message came even though I thought I read that it was supposed to be ok. Weird.

Anyone knows if I can use my bluetooth headset to listen to iTunes? If so, how?

There are many stupid things that apple has done to keep their cell carriers happy.. like the Youtube app lowering the quality of video streams while viewing over 3G (as opposed to Wifi).

I got Truveo for that. :)

Weirdly, though, you can just double click on the podcasts and "Stream" them to your hearts content over 3g.

For some reason, I feel compelled to make a minireview/comment on all the Apss I have sampled thus far:
Nice list. I share your opinions of Flashlight, Google Earth, Ocarina and Shazam. I got iTalk when it was free but I don't use it much. I got BeejiveIM instead of Palingro so can't comment much there except to say mine works pretty well. I'm expecting a few itunes giftcards for Christmas so I'll finally get into the game scene (yes I'll buy Amateur Surgeon first Superpac).

Camerbag is fun. All those Photography apps lead me to believe that the iPhone will supplant most (if not all) of the point and clicks when it finally gets a decent camera. Or more probably the iPod Touch if Apple chooses to go that route. There is so much you can already do with your pictures already it'll be ridiculous when the phone gets upgraded with flash and a faster processor.

By the way, is your phone jailbroken? At least play with it with on your iPod Touch to see what it has to offer.

Thanks for the comments!

Yeah, I'm surprised at how much use my iPhone camera gets, considering I was always, "Bah, it's crap, I have an SLR, what need do I have for a cellphone cam?". It
s just handy, and I'm lazy. I still think 2 MP is the sweet spot for snap shots for just recording - nicer iso performance would be great, as well as macro capability. It's amazing how little even these things matter when you've got some nice effects to play with.

I don't IM all that much, especially without a dataplan, so I'd probably never pay too much for a client.

No, my iPhone is not jailbroken, but good point about my touch.

Puzzle Quest is very good, but you better hope you dont get a phonecall during a battle because it doesn't save your progress. :[

All it does is make me want to get the DS version.
Also, TouchArcade is reporting that Silent Hill is out... only in Europe though.

The new Mint application in AppStore = wow.

Their site is mind blowing. Mint.Com

Go and do.

Learned about this a few days ago on Mint's website. See that's the thing with the iPhone and Apple, with their popularity you know for a fact that the phone is going to get top notch support.

Yeah. Mint's website is blowing my mind right now. I can't believe all this is Free. I'm just waiting for the ad that says "Click here to upgrade to super detailed account history for $x." LOL

Ooh. I am downloading this...

Quick Q: What's a good guide for jailbreaking an iPhone 3G on 2.2? The ones i know still use the expert mode method but shouldn't that be fixed by now? I'm not availble to do it for a friend and she's a newbie...

Pretty sure all their revenue generates from their 'Ways to Save' referrals and Credit Score Service Referrals. And yeah just signed up and their site is crazy impressive.

What is the deal with these iPhone Nano rumors and case designs? How does it even make sense when every app that's been created for the iPhone and iPod touch is made for a specific screen size and resolution? Are we gonna have something like Lux Touch, Lux Touch Free, and Lux Touch Nano now? WTF.

99.9% chance that they are fake.

the .1% chance of being real only stems from the leaked iPhone 3G case designs that were leaked before WWDC in June.

This time, I think someone is just using that knowledge to get people expecting some crazy mini phone at macworld.

but it makes no sense, like you said.

The Time: Free clock: After getting an iPhone, my iPod touch has just become a bedside clock. this one is free and works well enough, with the right amount of useful options (such as a dim mode, and disable sleep). I like that it DOESN'T look like a digital bedside clock.

I've always wondered, is there any risk of burn-in on iPhones? I would love to use a digital clock app, but I'm wary of leaving it on a semi-still image for eight hours or more.

I would assume there's no risk, considering that the iPhone "desktop" hasn't burned-in. Still, I get worried about these things.

People haven't really had to worry about this shit for a few years now. Technology is mostly past it.

All of the rumors of a 32gb iPhone at Macworld in January are making me kind of regret buying the 16gb earlier this month. Should I return this one within the 30 day return period? I just feel like if a 32gb comes out and the 16 gets a price cut 2 days after my return period expires I will be pissed... =/

There's a lot of rumors about a 32GB iPhone?

i hadn't heard them.

the only iPhone rumors I've been hearing about are crazy ones about an iPhone nano. :lol

32 GB version is going to happen eventually. the question is whether they do it now or this summer with a bigger design change.

when is your return limit date? any new products would be known by January 6th, the date of the keynote. if you can wait till then, keep onto your phone so you avoid extra hassles with extra returns.

i'm not going to completely discount the possibility of an iphone nano. it could simply have the same resolution, with a higher dpi or something. not completely out of the question.

It'd be awesome if you sourced "all of the rumors," because I haven't seen a single one.

Also, stop crying. You bought it, so either return it now or deal with what you thought was worth your money.

Someone suggest to me some iPhone apps. I don't have very many, especially not paid ones and need to update.

Questions:

-Notebook or Notebooks??
-Any good games? Don't care for puzzle ones too much.

Rolando, if you don't mind spending $10. Absolutely worth the price, though.

Another good one is Tangram Puzzle Pro. It's $.99 and it's more of a puzzle game but it has over 700 puzzles in it and it's more then worth the cash, I'm completely addicted.

Dizzy Bee and Asterope are also highly, highly recommended.

Exactly.

Also I have not heard of many rumours either. The iPhone uses a single chip for memory, so the 32GB iPhone is dependent on the price of 32GB chips falling. The iPod Touch uses 2 chips, so the moment a 64GB iPod Touch is announced, the 32GB iPhone will surely follow sooner or later.

Yeah, uh, I haven't heard any rumors to this effect.

Thanks. Was hearing good things about it for awhile.
Got Rolando, Monopoly, Crash Bandicoot Racing, Topple, Trace, and a free Airhockey game.

A handful of games I'm interested in still. I wish they'd re-work Scrabble and Yahtzee.

Yeah, I really want Tetris but I just can't bring myelf to pay $5-8 for it. Maybe if it was like $3 I'd bite, but come on. It's fucking Tetris. $8? Really? Normally it's free on a phone. And there are like, no good clones of it at all.

:(

I'm still fine with my "Tris" app. Haven't played the actual Tetris on iPhone yet.
Downloaded a ton of incredible free apps that I have given my phone a much needed boost though and I am very very happy with all of my purchases.

If someone could let me know about Notebook vs. Notebooks I would be very appreciative. I heard "Notebook" was the better one and not able to spot all the differences based off of the iTunes descriptions alone.

See my comments above: tetris blows away tris in every regard except boot-to-play time. It's 'real' tetris.

Jack scofield: I have it set on dim and during the day I sleep it. Like he said it's not an issue regarding burn in anymore. I'd be more concerned with LCD backlight dimming. Still, you'd probably be outgrowing your device before it becomes a real issue.

Bucket head: I just bought yahtzee and I thnk it's REALLY enjoyable. It's solid, plays a good game with few gimmicks. Nice interface, and a couple of new ways to play. Lacks multiplayer and could do with some more statistics tracing, but recommended nevertheless.

I'm strongly considering getting an iphone. But it seems like Android may be the way to go if one waits a bit longer. It just seems cool to be able to scan barcodes and almost instantly get reviews and prices from competitors and stores around your location.

I want the Shop Savvy application on iphone. Too bad the sdk doesn't allow you to control the iphone camera. Hopefully this will change. Anyone else want this?

Video of Shop Savvy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jmWSbqa6Lk

Shop Savvy is the only thing really making me want to wait for a new Android phone to come out.

Does anyone know if apple will make the sdk more open to developers in the future?

Help me GAF =].

Barcodes, Snappr.net but neither are really good I'm afraid.

The iPhone has a couple of apps like this. You'll really never use this feature like you think you will.

There's a recently released one called SnapTell Explorer which works well. It's limited to movies, music, games, and books, and you take a picture of the cover, but it displays reviews/places to buy online/near you/web links etc. The recognition hasn't failed me yet, but I haven't ever really wanted to USE it, just test it randomly, heh

Is there any way I can subscribe (so it automatically Downloads/updates) to a podcast on my Ipod touch itunes? Is there an app for it?

Unlikely. It's obvious why, nothing is automatically fetched on the iPhone/iPod except email. How would it work if the app only works when loaded ?

I have a simpler solution, use your computer. There is an app on there called iTunes which should sort you out :)
