Ok, so besides the firmware bullshit errors I always get I got a new problem today. I was downloading a song off iTunes via 3g connection (not wifi) and when it gets done I goto listen to some music and it was all gone......it fucking erased everything and the song I DL'd wasn't there either. Anyone else have problems like this?

I am having problems with my iPhone not syncing the way it should. Basically iTunes will dl a new episode of a podcast, I sync my phone and it isn't there. Same goes if I select a new playlist to be synced. I end up having to re-sync, check to see if it is correct, if not sync again. I am going to try a restore tonight when I go to bed to see if that fixes it. You might try the same approach.

I LOVE Monopoly. I have only one complaint and that is the fact you can't skip through the animation of opponent's pieces moving on the board. Other than that, I am digging it alot.

not sure if it is already in this thread or not but apparently the iphone doesn't work well with magnets. My brother-in-law's iphone case had a magnet in it and it kept messing up his phone, making him unable to make or receive calls and such.

Most electronics don't play well with magnets... Especially if it has a harddrive. :p

I have an iPhone case with a magnetic seal and have encountered zero problems with my 3G.

they have flash drives, and i guess i should have mentioned the problem was with the first gen ones not the 3G

It wouldn't be an iPhone app list without mention of an App Store banning, now would it? NetShare brought easy 3G laptop tethering, until Apple noticed and yanked it.

Sure, it's against the SDK guidelines and AT&T's terms and conditions. And yes, you can still do it with a handful of Jailbreak apps. But we had to include NetShare on this list as one of the earliest examples of a developer just going for it (and Apple, inexplicably, approving the app before realizing their error and pulling it—a move we would see plenty of throughout the year).

And if you were lucky enough to grab it before the ban, you can still use it today.

what's this about? 3G laptop tethering? What does that do? My iphone isn't jailbroken so I'm guessing there'll be nothing out that could do this?

laptop tethering allows you to use the cell connection on your phone as a modem for your laptop (or any computer). so you can be out in the park and get on the net with your laptop by sharing the phone's data connection.

there's a rumor that AT&T and Apple will announce an official tethering app and additional monthly fee (of course) later this year. but no one knows.

if you NEED the functionality, you can get it via a choice of apps on the jailbreak repository.

The only thing stopping me buying Monopoly is the the lack of online play. None of my friends have iPhones and at work we are generally too busy to kick back for a game.
 
ok nuevasync has address one of my biggest complaints with the iphone with over the air contacts and calendar sync, it just bothers me that apple won't let me sync my contacts and calendar just because they want to sell me a mobileme account.

i should have to resort to using a third party exchange server to do so. hopefully with some competition from palm they will change things.
 
I'm having a strange problem with my iPhone. I have almost 700 songs on it, it's a 8GB 3G, but there's one specific song where I'll try to load it on, and when I play it, it... "skips" in some places. I can play it on my computer with absolutely no problem, but every time I put it on my phone it skips. I've even tried reformatting my iPhone and reloading everything, and that song alone still skips. WTF?

I agree with you in theory, but in principle, this isn't necessarily all Apple's doing. Remember, with any 3rd-party calendar and contact service, Apple has to obtain approval to use their service for over-the-air syncing, and in the case of Google, they're trying to promote a free over-the-air alternative for Android, I imagine, so... why give another advantage to their competitor, no matter how cozy they might be?

There's no way they'd make it a pay service. Tethering is the only significant thing Windows Mobile has that iPhone doesn't, and it's free there.

Fucked up MP3. I have a whole album that skipped on my Nano but not on my iPhone. I re-ripped it and it plays fine on both now.

It's not free by carrier choice. You are still supposed to add the PAM option onto your plan, it just happens to be extremely easy to get around that with Windows Mobile.

This pretty much happen to me. My phone would shut off by itself and I would have to constantly reset it to turn it back on. I stopped using the magnetic case and it works fine ever since, except...

my Safari has been acting VERY slow lately, and it's been closing the browsing and going to Home randomly VERY frequently. I'm not sure if it was from the past magnet or if it's just Safari lately.
 
Magnet... I work in the electronics dept and we have magnets on our keys. Maybe that's why Web2Go won't work on my phone (T-Mobile)? I did have it working with wap.voicestream.com but now it just won't connect.

I've been having some issues with my phone today: I can send texts, but can't receive, and I can't make or receive calls (sometimes), either. This just started like five hours ago. I have full service and 3G, i've done a whole restore, everything I can think of, and nothing is working...Is this something to do with AT&T, and not me?

Today I noticed on my iPhone 3G that there is a hairline crack on the back of my iPhone originating from the left corner of the dock connector.. combining that with with the dust that has managed to get into the LCD screen, do you think this would warrant a replacement from Apple?

If so, how would I go about doing it? I am out of the 90 day phone support period but still covered under the 1 year warranty, their website says to take it into an Apple Store but the closest one is 8 hours away.

The phone support is for "how do I do such and such" questions. You should still be able to call in for a repair, hypothetically.

Yeah it's to do with your service provider. Probably got parts of your account locked somehow. I know the same happened to my sister, where she could send texts and not receive. There was an incoming text block in place at the source.

I got tired of having this theme and missing some app icons that were not in the original pack. I started finding looking around if people made their own and I learned to make my own as well.

The theme is called A8stract, I love it. Still trying to find a better wallpaper though, this one is a bit too busy for my taste.
I made Aurora Feint, Mazefinger, space monkey, mini piano and amazon and I've assigned app icons from other apps aswell. Love jailbreaking

Any folder icons for Categories?
 
LOL, this is the first one I messed around with. I like to switch themes every week to keep it fresh. This is the first one I tried to have it for all apps because the icons were simple enough for me to make.

I really don't know cuz I don't use them. once you learn how to do the whole ssh thing, you can add your own or others icons into a specific themes folder.

All you have to do, is make sure the .png is named exactly as the icon is so it can replace it. It's really easy to do, I usually don't try this stuff but it was easy enough by following guides and stuff.

It's not quite busy enough. It needs like a flashing background, some animated gifs, and maybe like a scrolling ticker tape. Is it possible to do that?
 
LOL my gf hates my current wallpaper, I was using this one prior to the current one. The bottom white make it hard to read the text at the bottom, I usually hate using wallpaper that has too much shit on it, I like the simple and clean looks better but the one I'm using caught my attention.

Oh yeah, while this thread is being revised, might as well add some actual news.

Apple has released OS update 2.2.1 for the iPhone and iPod touch.

it has two notes:

-fixes camera roll bug with saved images
-improves safari stability.


Download away, folks. (except you jailbroken people)
