Related to this, there was a survey released today that shows the iPhone 3GS has a 99% satisfaction rate: http://www.appleinsider.com/article...one_3gs_has_99_percent_satisfaction_rate.html. (Clearly everyone is just a batshit insane Apple fanboy.)

The best part is in the "what you don't like about it" category, where AT&T is the clear #1 with 55%.
I don't even have any complaints about AT&T. Great service everywhere I've taken it.

If I miss one thing from blackberry land, it's the PIN stuff...AT&T's text messaging rates (well, the industry in general I guess) are absurd and probably should be illegal.

I've had iPhone for almost 4 weeks now and I can say it is the best device I've ever owned in my life. A truly life-changing device that I cannot live without. A dream to use. My highest recommendation.

I have to agree. I got mine 3GS launch day and it's truly everything I could ever want. I still get amazed at the things I actually do with it, on a day to day basis.

I've had mine for about three months, and its being used non-stop from the moment I get up until I go to sleep. Its the kind of thing where you have no idea how you lived without it.

So true. There's a great book about the creation of the iPod called "The Perfect Thing" but I think that title is better suited to the iPhone :D

Love my Griffin Reveal.

It adds almost no weight, protects the back / sides, comes with good screen protector and being able to see the Iphone back through clear plastic is a thing of beauty.
thinking about getting this when I get a 3g next week, where did you buy yours?

also I have heard that somehow dirt gets under the back side somehow, just curious if you have had this issue

I highly recommend anyone interested in Apple, Jobs, or the history of consumer electronics in general read this book. The chapter on Sony and the Walkman's rise and fall is worth the price alone.

Most definitely. It's my alarm in the morning, my newspaper on the toilet, music player in the car, games handheld on lunch break, internet device throughout the day, remote for the TV in the evening, and ambient sound machine as I fall to sleep. Oh, and occasionally a phone.

My friends say I should draw a salary from AT&T. My brother, sister, sister in law, wife, a coworker and a good friend have been convinced by me to get one.

My friend was especially tough to convince because he owned a Sprint Mogul (LOL) and he was like "I have a browser already", "I can do all that stuff already", and things like that. It was tough for me to convey that just having a browser on your phone isn't enough, that just having some apps isn't enough, just having a touch screen isn't enough.

Anyway, after the Palm Pre came out and he read the reviews, he decided he would get a 3gS. He even paid the cancellation fee for Sprint, and now he tells me what I told him and what you guys are all saying: This is the best device I have ever owned.

In fact, everyone mentioned above is super thrilled and concedes that this device is truly spectacular and the best phone ever created. A technological landmark and every other random praise term I can throw at it.

Finally got my iPhone yesterday, happy day.

Although I have a problem. Before getting my iPhone I have purchased alot of games and apps in the appstore to be ready for this grand day. Now how ever, it seem like, I can't synchronize the apps to my iPhone. I'm getting a message telling me my computer aint authorized and that I should go to Store > Authorize Computer. Said and done but afterwards I still keep getting the same message. :(

I can enter the appstore through my iphone and download the apps I purchased. When I do I get the message, You have already purchased this item. To download it again for free, select OK. So no problem there.

It just seem to be impossible to synch through iTunes for me which is extremly frustrating. :(

Any ideas or suggestions?

Is there any way to reveal spoilered text on gaf on safari? I'm trying to read the district 9 movie and I feel like I'm missing 80% of the conversations.

Are you using the mobile app (which you damn well should be)?

So i'm having an issue with iTunes not particularly related to the iPhone but figured someone here might have some experience with this. For the 2nd time I am having an issue with iTunes refusing to add certain songs when I choose to add a folder to my library.

In this specific case I am trying to add Fort Minor's The Rising Tied, which is contained in 1 folder and contains tracks but when iTunes adds it, it only adds the first 6 songs. I tried several times to delete it out of iTunes and then re-add the folder to the library and every time it is the same issue...just 6 tracks.

I had this problem sometime last year with Pink Floyd's The Wall and never found a resolution

I need to choose which iphone im getting within the next hour and I dont know whether to go 3G or 3GS! :S:S

Using 02's sim only contracts I can get 1600 texts 800 mins and unlimited internet (18m) with a 3GS for 37.69 per month, or a 3G for 32.35 per month (british pounds). Seeing as im going to be a poor student in 2 months time I can see that extra 5 pounds a month helping... however I can also see that a 3GS will hold its value longer to sell after my contract is over... I CANT MAKE A DECISION AHHHHH :lol

I'd like some opinions please, but if you have a 3gs and your current on your honeymoon period please dont exaggerate, I need honest opinions on whether the 3gs is worth 100 pounds more than the 3g over the length of a contract!

How much better is the battery life on the iphone 3GS than the ones that came before it? that's probably the biggest reason I haven't bought an iphone yet, but I just realized that I never followed up on iphone 3gs battery.

look at the last page when we all piled on Benjamin Birdie to get the 3GS. it's so much faster, it's not even funny.

since apps load so much faster on the 3gs, there's this illusion of seamless multitasking when moving between mail, safari, text, etc. before, there would be noticeable delays and reloads that would slow down your use of the device.

plus, most games run at 60 fps now and there's much less app crashing (actually zero app crashing so far) as there's no "out of memory" errors as the 3G would get frequently.

plus an actual decent camera lens with autofocus, compass, voice control and nice quality video recording to seal the deal.

and one final thing, totally cool augmented reality apps that use the compass for orientation will only work properly on the 3GS.

The 3GS won't feel horribly outdated in a couple years, the 3G is already old and feeling slow

spend the extra cash now and keep the phone for longer than the 3G. should you decide to upgrade later, your resale value will be much better than trying to unload a 3G

when using the phone on 3G, browsing and talking over the phone service, the 3GS battery life is the same or slightly worse as the 3G. but, when using wifi, or just watching video or listening to music the battery life is better than the 3G by a couple hours.

Better with games too, I assume. That sounds good then. I just don't want to be stuck without a phone when my entertainment device dies.

eh, i don't know. in my experience games still suck the battery dry pretty quickly. don't expect any real battery gains with gaming.

I haven't done timed experiments but my battery at the end of the day, with some lengthy drop7 sessions in there, is usually at around 30 or 40%, which is what my old 3G used to be at, approximately.

Damn i just cant press the place order button on the apple website :lol I need to go try it out before I can buy it. Any idea if I can just buy it upfront in the store and walk away with a phone or do they send them through to post?

In north america you can just walk away with one if they have it in stock (that's the hard part).

can't say for sure about the UK. i'd be surprised if it was different. the activation procedure is universal.

call up the store.

Atleast for Ireland it's pretty much the same, atleast for 3GS models. The stock is very limited. Local O2 stores around here only get around 10 units a week on Saturdays from Apple, if they're lucky. See Apple apparently doesn't confirm store deliveries so it's a bit of a gamble getting one, since they don't allow pre-ordering either. :lol

Once you do get one though it's a simple store purchase and a 15-30 min wait for Apple to approve your details/activate the phone for you in-store.

I've had this issue, for me it turned out to be the metadata in the songs.

I ended up using foobar2000 to completely strip the tags and rewrite them, tried adding them to iTunes again, and it worked.

I have a question for those who have experience with daschode and creating a webapp for the iPhone.

So far my website works fine through the iPhone emulator and even through safari when I load the page internally. But once I start to access my webapp through my iPhone over my Apache webserver none of the xml requests work and I can't dynamically load my lists.

I don't know how it could work over the damn emulator and when I publish it on my webserver it just doesn't work >.<

halp?

*edit* oh and option + shift doesn't seem to work on the iPhone 3.0 emulator. Am I the only one that cant scroll within a subframe?

I echo his sentiments. Best hand held device ever!

Damn! I need the one in the middle and the one on the end right.

There are the perfect balance of beautiful and badass.

Each one is a representation of a historical Japanese figure. The left one is a direct image of the Sanada family. The left one seems to represent Oda Nobunaga, but I can't see a connection.

I agree with the iPhone being the most useful device ever. Can't even imagine not having one. People around me who don't own one can't understand it, but then again I couldn't understand the hype until I owned one as well.

It isn't just the iPhone. Every device has shitty battery life on 3G. You get significantly better life on Edge.

Hopefully the next iPhone will be able to tackle.

Ok I officially don't get what a capped plan is. Originally I thought it would like cut me off after I'd hit the amount of data or money provided under the plan, hence capping me. This turned out to be false.
Then I read me phone bill and I am confused.
The plan I am with states it is a $19 cap and within that I get $50 worth of calls and texts as well as 100mb of data. (then I get charged for the phone itself also)
Then I check my detailed usage on my app and I see this (it was also like this on my last phone bill I think):
photo.jpg

Shouldn't these costs be covered under the $50 and 100 Meg that's in the plan? I mean I'd understand if these costs were here if I went over the limit but i haven't yet.
Sorry for the essay, I'm just really confused right now. I've only ever had prepaid before this.

Have you got your bill yet? I'm on the $19 Cap + 1 Gig bolt on data and my bill is $43 ever time.

$19 Cap + $19 Data pack + $2.50 Bullshit fee + GST

Hi!

I'm from Germany, and will be moving to NYC for a year, starting in a week. I have an unlocked iPhone 3g 8GB.

I think i might use T-Mobile USA, knowing that they only have edge

I'm looking at the Flexpay 300 Minutes Plan.

I've seen that there is an unlimited web plan for $9.99 but a Tmo rep told me that I have to order the Smart Web Plan for $24.99.

So whats true? Does the 9.99 plan work?

Thanks!

I have, yes. I didn't buy a data extesion though. I don't get why I'm apparently paying over $30 for Internet usage when I'm not over my given amount.
The cap plan states 100meg of usage as well as $50 worth of calls and texts. Why am I paying for all this when it should be covered by the original $19.
I've confused myself more now...

What's the applecare protection process like?

My 3G iphone is messed up. Even though it says I'm connected to edge or 3G I can't load a webpage or use the GPS. I have to turn it off and on multiple times before it will work. It's becoming like a 10 minute ordeal to get it to work when I'm away from wifi.

The 3G coverage in my area is quite strong. My friend's 3G and 3Gs work well standing next to me.

Why are you asking? Your phone's busted, so you'll need to have it checked out anyway.

You're not going to get charged unexpectedly for a repair, if that's what you're asking.

I've had a similar problem- random songs won't display the album art, even though I've gone around and embedded the art into the files. And it's not even an album problem; one Friendly Fires song works, another doesn't. Any insights, anyone?
