Ipod nano scratching

I just put a pda screen protector on my ipod, and then bought a cover for it... no scratches on the thing at all, and it has been through a lot.

Can anyone answer if nano scratches exactly the same as PSP? Aren't they made from the same material?

All the alegged PSP scratching to hell never bothered me even a bit, because the backlight makes any miniature scratches on the screen invisible. If the situation is worse than that with nano, that's maybe of some concern then.

PSP doesn't come close to the iPod nano when it comes to susceptibility of scratches.

welcom to the wonderful world of ipods. i learned this within the 1st week i got mine. I swear, i only had it sitting on my shelf and it still got some scratches (particularly on the back "mirror" part). Thats why i ordered my ass an iskin.

It boggles my mind how everybody praises Apple for their stellar design. If people are afraid to put their mp3 players into their pocket because of scratching, the design can't be all that great :lol

I can fully control my Nano at work through my shirt, tucked up high under an armband. Looks like my left arm is itchy. How many other players have such an excellent interface? (I do think the Nano is a bit on the sensitive side, though; I prefered the sensitivity of my 2nd and 4th more)

And shitheads being afraid to put their Nano in their pocket is not about the Nano being fragile, it's about the people being shitheads.
You're not going to keep your Nano virginal, and you would sacrifice nearly all of it's form and feel to come close. And no amount of scratches from your pocket is going to prevent the device from functioning in its absolutely stellar fashion.

EDIT: Okay, I didn't know about that screen thing. Excluding that, once the issue is fixed or whatever, my point still stands against the inevitiable scratching.

Way to miss the point completely.

Electronics firm Apple has admitted there have been problems with its new iPod Nano music player, after a string of complaints about damaged screens.

The smaller version of the popular iPod was hailed as a design breakthrough when it was unveiled a few weeks ago, with the cheapest model costing £140.

Apple says a manufacturing problem has left screens on one batch vulnerable to cracks and is offering replacements.

It says the problem affects fewer than a tenth of 1% of all Nanos shipped.

However, it denies claims the Nanos are more prone to scratching than other models.

Owners have been complaining about cracked, scratched or inexplicably failing screens, sometimes within hours of buying the machine.

BBC.

That's not the Apple I dealt with when my iBook G4 got pissy on me, but it was the right move for the company to make.

But I still won't buy one. I call shenanigans on the Apple thing after two failing third-generation iPods and an iBook that works now but had far too lousy a history in one year.

I don't think this is intrinsic to the Nano. My iPod Photo got scratched all to hell in my backpack. It seems to be made from the same miracle material as the PSP, from what I've read; which scratches when exposed to the harsh Earth environment. >:(

Get ye an Otterbox!

Yeah I have a 40GB photo and it scratches, but doesnt impact my viewing of the screen. From looking at my friend's nano, it doesnt appear to be made differently.
