Insane For Sony
I had a chance to listen to it for the first time today, and I'm sad to report that the main problem that plagued the sound quality of all the Ipods is still there. I've used EX71 in-ear earphones, listened to some song that had a silent section at the beginning, and the noise was there and pretty jarring I must say.
To make sure that the song is not encoded that way (some songs are, for whatever reason) I made sure to listen to it on the PSP as well, and sure enough, there was a complete absence of that noise.
Note that at first I was listening to Ipod with it's volume all the way up, and in that case, it was significantly more loud than PSP. Lowering volume to PSP levels made the noise less audible, but it was still there. On the highest volume setting it was pretty jarring though, I don't think I'd wanted to listen to anything on that volume setting.
