Yes, you are right, athletic women rarely date skinny men, but that is mainly because your average person looks at popular media to tell them how to behave and set the ideals they should strive for.
If the predominant media was to start presenting more and more couples in which athletic women date skinny men, you would suddenly see a change of behavior in the population as those type of couples would be suddenly in vogue.
If you truly feel like an ignored skinny man who never gets attention from athletic women, your best bet is to support this piece of media and vote with your dollar. Over time you’ll be pulling in gym hotties with your skinny looks.
When I wanted to date athletic women, I became athletic myself. This went on for almost a decade until I realized that dating a shit for brains person who spends 10+ hours of her week at the gym and lives a strict life centered around her body is a miserable experience. Never mind the fact that I also feel I wasted a lot of my life at the gym instead of cultivating other skills that truly make me happy. YMMV.
