This year has been exceptional for my tastes as well.

I think if GTA wasn't on that list, then for many it would be a "good year", but after red dead 2 I'm a firm believer that whenever that game drops it will take the whole industry forward.

Next year will for sure be great.

Any of these three are already worth a bunch of good games on their own. GTA VI alone is worth many good games in one.

RE9 and GTA VI are going to be some of the best games of all times especially GTA VI.

No....because A LOT remains to be seen, ie will these games be "finished" on arrival, or need life-long patches to get them to where they need to be...007 has a minimum standard to meet- be better than what you got with Bloodstone..and despite the flashy trailer it is too soon to say if it will be...and what paywalls are associated with it...(as with many of the other titles..)

I think we've been in a golden age of gaming for a bit now, including this year.

Next year, looks like 5+ GP titles already with MS crushing it yet again. Resident Evil 9 I'll get eventually on discount. Onimusha, I may get day 1 and I think it looks incredible. 007, waiting for a sale. I'll add Splatoon spin-off as a title I'm interested in for next year. Mudang looks good so we'll see how it is at release. Will get it I'm sure at some point.

Honestly, this isn't that different from where I'm at this year. MS is up to something insane like 8-10 1st party titles this year. I'm honestly losing count. It's good now, and it will be good next year too. I'm bursting at the seams with stuff to play now, and looking forward to Donkey Kong coming up in particular which I expect to be on par with 3D Mario games. Nintendo is going to have some heavy hitters next year I'm sure. Ninja Gaiden has 2 games this year (not counting Black 2). Shinobi this year.

I don't care about GTA6 at all but I get that's a big deal for most people.

Same, I mean there's always potential but nothing really has me looking longingly at 2026 yet. I'm a Nintendo guy so that can change fast though, I'm sure they'll have a couple "once-in-a-gen" heavy hitters that will shoot to the top of my list immediately (3D Mario, Smash, Animal Crossing, etc.)

Who knows though. In theory we are getting either a new Mario or Zelda as well. Who knows what Sony has in store? Maybe something new from Larian by that point?

Stuff could line up but given how long it takes for development, it's very unlikely we'll ever see something that matches both the quality and quantity of a year like 98.

Without Skyrim, RE9 or GTA VI solos everything else there.

Modded Skyrim still beats everything and only rivaled by other modded Fallout or Elder Scroll games.
