For the past week or so, they have been running, trade in 3 games, get 30% extra trade-in value. Well, now at least some of the stores are running Buy 2 Get 1 free.

Well, do the math on this combination and you can end up trading in 3 games and getting 3 44.99 used games and getting credit back. In addition, Buy 2 Get One Free works with the Discount card (which will soon moronicly be called the "More Card" and cost 15 dollars for 12 months) and the example I tried gave back 11 dollars credit for;

trading in Grand Theft Auto SA, Metal Gear Solid 3, and Prince of Persia Warrior Within.
And buying Champions of Norrath RTA, Shadow of Rome, and Xenosaga 2 used.

Geeze, better then Ebay if you play your cards right.

Gamestop is doing Buy 2 get 1 free, it's a last minute thing. The computers don't even show the offer yet, employee's have to enter it in by hand. EB Games has a Buy 2 get 1 free thing going on for 2 weeks, Gamestop is just responding to that.

There is a difference between good deal, and trading in 3 used games for 3 used games from the same time period, and getting $10 credit back.

Desperate was when they had that trade 2 games, get $40 off selected titles a couple years ago. Basically any 2 games too, except sports. I remember I got $40 off DMC2 for spending only $10 on used titles that I bought FROM THEM then TRADED BACK. lol.

Good point, but why change all of a sudden to what seems like desperate tactics?

But, if its combating the B2Get1 free of Ebgames, then it was obviously unplanned, which makes the whole thing make more sense; it also made it worth me making the post

Hey, I'm not gonna argue with you, it sounds like a damn good trade. However, considering the generally ridiculous prices of used games and their usual cheap ass trade-in values, they're not hurting. I'm sure they have their reasons, or as in Wario's example, they just lack foresight... idiots (I wish I had cashed in on that one!) I doubt people often come in with three new relatively hot titles to trade as you did which worked highly in your favor when factoring in the 30% bonus.

Undoubtedly, the best 'deal' to be had this month was easily the EB "+$10 with 2 trade-ins" and TRU's 90% clearance sale combo. Yum.

What's funny is that they actually accepted Jampack demos in that trade in deal. A couple cents turns into $10+!

My local stores wouldn't take them. Thankfully, I asked if they were accepted before blindly snatching them up.

Oh well... I still made out pretty good, and one manager was cool enough to accept duplicate titles.

That's probably for the best. They suck ass... Normally I'd never have anything to do with them, but if they wanna give me $10 for Primal, I won't argue.

To do that you would need games that are roughly valued at $26 a pop ([26x3]*1.3 = $101 in credit). Not very many games have a trade in value that high.

If you are selling off stuff from just a few months ago I might question whether or not you are "desperate" =P

Most games are only valued at like $5-7 and at that point the 30% bonus isn't going to get you the same sort of deal.

Maybe it's just a ploy to get people like you to trade in the in-demand recent releases.
