Is GENESIS still the most badass system name??

Guys, I think you are all forgetting about the Mega Duck

And its good friend, the Cougar Boy

yeah those systems had badass names. I guess everyone doesn't try anymore therefore we get stupid names and then after that numbers next to them. At least revolution sounds good, but then again not really.

"Buy my system, and you can be as bad ass as me."

When are going to finally get a company with enough balls to call their system "the Beast" though? Microsoft "Beast". Then we could stop saying "360 is a BEAST!" and instead move right on to "The Beast is confident!"

Atari taking a cue from car manufacturers with the Lynx and Jaguar was a smart move, both those names are awesome. Too bad the games didn't follow suit.

My vote goes for Dreamcast. It's the best example of a name that grows on you. I remember the furore on the message boards when that name was first revealed... =)

Lynx is also a really cool name.

Genesis does sound pretty badass though, in a teenage-angsty kind of way.

Nomad's a pretty clever name, shame about the system's battery life...

And I've always been partial to "Genesis"... and Revolution's really cool too, I hope Nintendo sticks with it. I've always hated PlayStation, even though the PS1 and 2 have by far been my favorite systems from the past 2 generations, it still sounds like the name of a Fisher Price toy for kids.

Any one of the Sega consoles does it for me, although, if Nintendo keeps the Revolution name, they would definitely hold the crown for best console name.

Edit: Nobody saw that......

The Genesis is still the best system name, unless Nintendo sticks with Revolution.

The Dreamcast is quite possibly the worst name for a video game system, and anyone who thinks otherwise is blinded by nostalgia for the system itself. Dreamcast is not the name of a video game system, it's the name of a gay disco on Castro Street. It's part of the teaser slogan for a new Broadway musical. It's the reason Sega gave up on making video game hardware - there's no way they could have come up with a fruitier name for the DC's successor. Going from Genesis to Saturn to Dreamcast, they had reached the pinnacle of fruitiness, and it was time to call it a day and go home.

What a stupid topic. If I was to make a console it would be called "I'll Punch Your Asshole With My Dickisis".

EDIT: Disregard this post. I'm fuckin stupid, and drunk as fuck and the internet should punish me with multiple cumshots in my eye.

honestly

the PLAY STATION?
Nintendo game cube?
the X BOX?

whats with all the dumb names?

now Genesis is a name that will make you grow hair on your chest.

will it ever be topped?

Damned straight it is!

It's still the most bad-ass system period!

WELCO
METOT
HENEX
TLEVEL

SEGA!!!

Ironically, the two most successful systems ever, "Game Boy" and "Play Station" have very childish sounding names.

Genesis is a pretty kickass name, I think. Arguably the best that I can think of.

And as people have already stated, Revolution sounds great too (if Nintendo decides to keep it).

:lol Yep...it was met with universal disdain. Even I couldn't defend it. It sounds just fine to me now.

Genesis is probably the best console name I can think of, though Ultra 64 would've been pretty sick, particularly with that logo they had before.

I also loved the Japanese Saturn logo.

Jaguar and Lynx were also bad ass names. And for vapourware systems, Konix was always a favourite of mine. For those who don't know what the Konix is (or those who barely remember it), here's a small refresher.

Revolution sounds corny as fuck to be honest...and if this system isn't as revolutionary as Nintendo claims, it's gonna wind up being a yoke around the NBot's necks as the XBots and Sony sluts throw it in their face for the next five years. But I don't think they're gonna use that name anyway.

I don't know... "Genesis" always seemed like a particularly silly name for a game system, to me at least.

I gotta give it to Commodore 64. Call it a computer and then tell me what "apps" you used on it...I never knew WTF my Geos discs were supposed to do.

Anyways, Genesis is pretty hardcore as well.

Dreamcast because is sounds so surreal. I always thought Genesis sounded dumb though. But maybe that's because I thought the whole "SEGA do what Nintendon't" thing was really lame and I haven't been able to mentally separate the two.

and clearly the worst ever is XBOX. Honestly it stands for Xtreme Box doesn't it? That's just moronic.

The best part is, they actually molded the X onto the Box

Damn, I want Sega to make a next-gen consoles. Now THAT would be some nice looking console with high quality games :D

I thought Jaguar, Lynx (and the Panther) were all good names.

Clever use of the term CommLynx with Lynx and Jaguar communication :) (not really utilised)

Pity the machine had no good games and was a piece of crap.

:lol :lol I know. adding insult to injury

I always thought X represented the unidentified
yeah I can see that, but I always thought Xtreme because it was announced at the height of the Xtreme marketing blitz and the popularity of extreme sports. Plus is didn't help that J Allard was skateboarding in the EGM where XBOX was announced.
