Is it normal to hear your heartbeat with Active Noise Cancellation headphones?

I just bought my first pair of noise cancelling headphones - the Sony WH-1000XM3. They sound awesome and it's amazing how much sound they can block, plus I got them on sale.

I noticed the same thing as this person though:

When I turn on the ambient sound mode (that amplifies outside noises) I can hear my heartbeat through the headphones. When I switch back to noise cancellation mode they sound like normal and I can just hear a very low/faint thumping (barely audible) only if there's nothing playing at all. This is normal right? Have any of you experienced this with noise cancelling headphones? I've always had excellent health & blood pressure and have never experienced this before so just wanted to ask. When I'm listing to something with noise cancellation on then they sound normal so they are definitely usable / keepable.

edit: based on doing more research this seems normal
