She seems to really like it. Is there stuff that I shouldn't feed her? I'm still new to this dog owner thing.

Onions are bad, the cooked cheese and oil and sauce will probably give your dog a stomach ache. Don't feed your dog your food, it may not be good for it and you are teaching it bad habits to beg and get rewarded.

No, please don't.

Don't feed your dogs human food unless it's certain fruits/veggies. Give him/her a (dog) treat while you eat.

Stinky vegetables are dangerous for dogs (garlic, onions, shallots, etc). The more intense (i.e. garlic), the worse.

He'll probably be fine having bit of leftover, but definitely don't make it part of his diet.

Also like. Go talk to your dang vet. He'll probably have a pamphlet of foods dogs can't eat. There's lots of human foods that are dangerous for dogs. You gotta learn this shit.

Your dog will love everything, even food that's poisonous to her, I would suggest just sticking to dog food and not letting her get used to human food.

If you want to give her a little treat sometimes, go for a little bit of blueberries or celery. If you ever have a day where you have no dog food available, give her some simple boiled chicken and white rice.

And make sure to read up on poisonous foods.

Onions and garlic are toxic to dogs. The sauce probably has some.

Edit: While we're at it, so are raisins, grapes, avocados, artificial sweeteners and obviously chocolate. There are more but these are the ones I run into most.

Give your dog food to your dog. A little bit of table scraps as a treat isn't awful, but if you're talking about just breaking off a slice for it, don't.

Typically it is a frowned upon to give a dog food meant for a different species. Not only is it junk food that should make even you feel a little guilty, but it has worse effects on different biology. Don't give animals people food. You should also make yourself aware of common people foods that are significantly harmful to dogs, like onions, grapes, etc.

Then again I give my pup pepperoni off of mine occasionally anyway and in some countries, dogs are treated like biological waste dumpsters.

Yes, it is fine on occasion to feed them "people food" you just need to stay away from a few things like onions, chocolate, and grapes.

Growing up, my parents used to feed our dog every left over. She lived for some 15 years. I'm not telling you to do the same, but your dog isn't going to drop dead if you feed it pizza

I wouldn't feed a dog people food. They get used to it and start eating food when you don't want them too. It's better to set clear boundaries between food they can and can't eat. Makes it easier when you want to stop them from eating people food that can harm them too.

It all depends on what kind of foods were being leftover, though. If it was hearty food like vegetables, lean meat, whole grains, etc, and is figured into the dog's overall diet, that can be perfectly fine.

The issue is when you're feeding it extra cheese slices of pizza, cheetos, fries, etc. Those things aren't good for us, and especially not good for our little buddies. If you care about your pet's health you should educate yourself on how processed/fatty/sugary foods affect their health and make sure to feed them a proper diet.

Sure it's a dog. It would eat you if it could.

Though, I wouldn't make a habit of it. They evolved eating mostly lean meats.

Garlic and oinon are posion for dogs, and imagine most pizza has garlic and onions on it, so...

Grapes, raisins, chocolate is as well.

The oils and cheese will fuck up their digestion.

Are olives posion too? And broccoli? I can't remember.

One time my dog stole a piece of pizza from the box, but the cheese was melted so she ended up taking 4 or 5 slices.

Each birthday she now gets a whole pizza just for her.

It is only once a year and a Hawaiian pizza so no onion, and Australian sizes are smaller than US sizes... I think the diameter is 11 inches for a large.

Whenever we get pizza we feed our dogs little bits of crust and they love it. I wouldn't give them any other parts of the pizza because garlic and onions are toxic to dogs if I recall correctly. Small amounts of crust should be harmless tho.

Not a good idea. The sauce probably has onions and garlic in it, which are pretty bad for your dog. They cause heinz bodies to form on their red blood cells which then burst prematurely and cause anemia. Small amounts won't do much harm, but it's best to avoid human food in general to be safe. You should look up all the foods that could harm your dog. It's much more than just chocolate.

Onions are too.

I feed my dog human food, but ONLY under certain conditions:

1. Never a large amount. Usually no more than I can fit on the tip of my finger.

2. Only "basic" foods that I know the ingredients for. e.g. bread, fruit, plain cheese, plain pasta
I would not feed her, say, pasta sauce, or crackers with seasoning on them, because it's too difficult to know all the ingredients there.

3. I always Google it before I give it to her for the first time. Everyone knows that dogs are allergic to chocolate, but they're also allergic to other random stuff (grapes, onions, avocado for some iirc). If there's any doubt, err on the side of caution. No need to mix up your dogs diet with exotic human foods; they're happy enough to be treated with a bit of peanut butter.

So yeah, tl;dr: I wouldn't feed my dog pizza. Too many ingredients and too many unknowns.

My older dog LOVES pizza. I give him a couple of small bites here and there but I'm not tossing him whole slices or anything.

stick to dog food. not only is human food pretty unhealthy for dog, but you're teaching her bad habits

Some dogs can tolerate bad food more than others, but it's generally best to keep them on dog food or "safe" human food like cooked eggs.
