I don't remember a South Park airing this Wednesday, and I checked MrTwig.net, and nothing. Now I see Comedy Central playing a South Park, new season rewind commercial. Is it one of those mid-season points, where they'll run another string of episodes a few months later?

South Park seasons are always split in two. The first half airs in the spring, the second in the fall. So, yes, the first half is over and new ones will likely begin sometime in October.

No, The south park seasons are a calendar year. The season will return in september. Its not like it matters though, except for the PSP episode the season was lame. I think South Park might be running on its last leg.

Prove me wrong Matt and Trey, prove me wrong.

I agree that they seem to be running out of steam, although there is the occassional genuinely funny episode. The PSP one was good, and I thought the hippy one was the best (although I missed at least one of them).

Ah figured the half was done. Is this the last season btw? I remember an interview saying they'd do one more season and that's it. Might have been season 10 they meant though. Either way, it was somewhat weak. Only a few good moments per episode. Nothing pure gold really, which a few episodes seem to be each season. Anyway, hopefully they finish with a bang, be it season 9 or 10.

Every other season usually had 7 first half episodes and 7 second half ones. Did they drop their season by 2 shows now?

I knew Parker and Stone were getting lazy, but, in the words of Jimmy, "Come on. I mean, come on."

EDIT: And the PSP episode was only the second best so far. you obviously forgot 'the losing edge', as that was the funniest episode in this season and all of last season.

8 new episodes begins Oct 12. They have one year left on their contract after this

BTW, they were originally going to have 8 this first run but matt said it was changed to 7. 15 episodes this season

I thought three of the episodes were very good (Schiavo, Baseball, and Cartman's "ghost"), one that I can remember was absolutely horrible (The first episode, Garrison's sex change) and I quite frankly can't remember the other three.

All in all...why the fuck do they take a 5 month break on a show that takes about five days to make?

edit: Ah, forgot the hippie episode, which was pretty good. The other two that I forgot were pretty much forgettable anyway.

Apparently there's still one more to come in this half...

Q. - Is the episode "The Death Of Eric Cartman" the finale for Season 9? Will new episodes air?

A. - No, there's one more episode left. After that, new episodes will resume in October.

Umm, yeah... we already got an episode after "The Death of Eric Cartman"... the one with Jimmy and the prostitute.

Anyway, as of now, I have no desire to ever buy this season on DVD. None of the episodes have been very good.

Eh? So the episode that aired on Wednesday about the bully they framed in kindergarden who comes back for revenge was a repeat? I certainly never saw it before that airing.

FYI it was a good episode at that.

*edit* Whoa.. the episode I'm talking about is an old one. Forget about my ramblings.

Uh, yeah, right behind the baseball one, the psp one, the hippies one, and the one where jimmy gets a hooker. "OMG CARTMANS NICE LOL PEEPS WILL LUV IT CUZ WE ONLY DO AN EPISODE LIKE THIS EVERY SEASON!!!"

Does it matter? They all suck compared to the PSP eppisode. I think South Park has lost its edge.

BTW, when did they sign the contract and how long was it for?

The Hippie and Baseball ones I thought were two of the most generic, and boring episodes I'd seen in a long, long time.

The Sex Change one was alright, it got carried away with the dolphin thing at the end. The Wing one (were they made fun of the Contender) was ok in parts, but still mediocre.

PSP, Cartman's Ghost and Erection Day were easily the best of the season.....by a large, large margin.

Last year's first half destroyed this one by a fucking mile: Good Time With Weapons (one of the greatest episodes ever), Awesome-O, Up the Down Steroid, The Passion of the Jew, You got Fucked in the Ass, Goobacks, and The Jeffersons.

Last season was great but Awesome-o was a dumb episode.

There is a general south park rule of mine though.....any episode that features an ample amount of Butters automatically ranks it above average, regardless of how the rest turns out.

Its free, its funnier than whatever else is on at the same time.

I think the last episode usually has an X-mas theme.

I'm not impressed by Season 9 too much. Although Butters getting probed with that device when Cartman died was the best part this season. It looked like a boxing glove inserted in his ass
