In the US, the Saturn was launched in the spring (as a surprise). Also, there's been no clarification that I know of saying the PS3 will launch in the US in the spring. They could be talking about the Japanese launch for all we know.

In europe most recent consoles have been released around spring.

Xbox was in March.
Gamecube was in May
GBA : SP was in March
GBA was in June (I think)

I seem to remember the N64 launching around March time but I didn't get one till later so I can't be sure of that without doing some research which I cba to do.

I guess we'll be getting the PS3 around fall next year then huh? And you can add the DS with a march release to that list.

Thanks. Seems like a odd time to launch giving the game market's usual schedule, but it's definitely understandable on Sony's part.
