Is the revmote too complex?

Let look at os's.

???-> MS DOS -> Windows

It simpler it got the more people used it. It really got mainstream when it reached the very simple click and point interface of the Windows OS.

As the Rev is trying to replicate this, i feel that the direction pad and the a &b buttons on the bottom of the controller may make it too complex for its own good. The question is whether it would be better if there was just the A button and trigger?

what the fuck-suck is it these days with bitty threads asking naught but stupid questions?

Guyz is the spork too complex? I mean a spoon that also has forky bits I just don't know if people are going to get it.

The only complicated part of the Revolution wand is the internals, which you don't have to worry about. How you see the buttons as complicated is beyond me...

I am talking about the girl and 80 year old market.

I don't think it's complex enough. I mean when you're walking around your living room interacting with holograms, you need lots of buttons for diverse actions.

Do you guys ever think out of the box you live in? Now i know what christopher columbus felt when he got ridiculed for claiming the world is round.

"the world is round!"
"ahahahahaha idiot"

"the revmote is too complex!"
"ahahahaahha idiot"

So you're claiming that your feelings on the revmote are of similar importance of the world being round?

So you're some kind of genius that no one else can comprehend the basic principle of the Revolution controller? Just how does the world maintain itself?

Writing with a pen is probably harder than using the Revolution controller.

Yes exactly. I dont see any difference at all. Imagine a world where the elderly play video games. Imagince the market exploitation abilities!

I imagine myself in many years and I see myself playing games...using the same controller I use today.

Oh, so your question was just a passive-aggressive statement of opinion?

Revmote + Virtual Bingo = Gold
Revmote + AARP Price Cut Simulator = PLATINUM

Wow a serious reply!

But the same could be said for those that were already using ms dos. It is more a matter of getting those that haven'ttouched a controller in their life or got scared of it originally to try it.

Columbus was a bitchass punk. And for one thing he didn't really claim it was round. We have evidence of scholars discussing the surface of the earth from the few remaining scraps of Alexandria's impressive library. Chris was just a selfserving pussypounder. Anybody could've sailed the oceanfuckingblue.

Which is unfortunate. I really do think we need a change, however I don't know if the revmote is the answer.

So you are saying that i am better than columbus? I have no problem with that. ;)

I don't know about the original question.

But I bet you $10,000 that most Rev owners will buy it and say to themselves..."Ok...now how do I use this?".

I'm sure all 8 of them will ultimately figure it out.

yeah, and the DS is totally going to BOMB!!!!!! HIGH FIVE

Oh, settle down. Bash Xbox in Japan all day long on this forum, but poke some fun at Nintendo's paltry home console performance and it's on like neckbone.

PS. The GBA was a great predictor for the GameCube, was it not?

I'm more concerned whether games will be too simple to accomodate the "revmote." I don't want a complete library of quirky and 'gimmicky' games.

Untill we all have holodecks in our rec rooms why wouldnt a "controller" be ok?
I had a power pad / power glove growing up, and it sucked.

Im getting a revolution but I can only imagine how long its gonna take me to just totally divorce myself from swinging my arm all over the damn place to play zelda (just thinking of possible example), and settle for just using a classic shell and emulating old nintendo games on the system.

I give credit for nintendo trying new things sometimes they work (the DS), sometimes they dont (R.O.B., power pad, power glove, Virtual Boy).

Just a side note, the Power Glove is almost always attributed to Nintendo, but it was actually made by Mattel. It did indeed suck either way though :) . I remember playing Punch Out with that thing. Seemed like an interesting idea at first, but of course it was actually pretty awful, a lot like most of the ideas I've heard for the Revolution controller.

I'm hoping Nintendo has thought things out a little more clearly than most of the crappy ideas that get tossed around here.

Yes. It should have one button and that's it. As it is now, crappy devs will assign features to crazy button combinations, completely missing the point.

The day where 80-year olds play video games WILL come....that is, when we are all 80. it won't be today. Or Tomorrow.

You see, it's not about exploiting a market (which, admittedly won't even be around for any greater time than a few years at any one time, anyhow), but a generation gap thing. 80-year olds today are simply not into gaming, regardless of the complexity of the controller. Of course, there are exceptions...but as times change, so do the people. unless the market crashes, you can guarantee that when our generation gets older, we'll still be playing games and the market will reflect this.

It's why your parents can't program a VCR, regardless of their intelligence - it's just something they haven't developed the 'knack' for, as it was never a part of their childhood.

Rest assured, the day will also come for you, when you'll be talking about the technology of yesteryear, how it was all better than 'now', and how bad/good young'uns have it.

Who needs to imagine? They already do.
En masse.

Regardless, it's a device that can seemingly be very straightforward and simple, or very complex as determined by the game being played. It's flexible. Besides, 4 buttons and a dpad shouldn't overwhelm very many people, especially when you can only really use one set of two buttons at any given time. The dpad is another beast, but I imagine it will only be used for more complex games, which would not be targeted at females and the elderly anyhow.

Let's just quit beating around the bush, gaf. It's the Nindildo. Yamauchi came up with it while watching tentacle rape anime roflcopter etc.
