Is the tard pack really that retarded?

If I ever buy the premium pack, I will buy an extra controller that's wired so I don't have to worry about "charging" batteries or buying more batteries. I already have to use plenty of batteries already these days. Thank goodness for Costco.

I think im just gonna use the money to buy DS games, the 360 kinda sucks.

What I would do if I were you would be patient. The 360 may have some killer game you absolutely want later on down the road and it will be nice to have to money to buy it.

Games like Oblivion are going to have performance hits without a hd in place, correct?

I might be getting the 'tard pack. I haven't calculated it yet, but if a wired controller, component cable, and a memory card comes out to less than $100, I might be retarded.

God, I just can't believe they're charging $100 for a puny hard drive. Probably a puny, slow hard drive, too (have they said?). The hack to use your own can't come soon enough.

Oh so the charge station is just for rechargeable batteries? I didn't think the controllers used batteries.
Correct. The charge kit comes with a rechargeable battery pack (2AA batts).

When the controller is being used wirelessly, does it use AA batteries, a proprietary battery pack, or a choice of either one?

what's retarded is paying anything over 300 for a console.

When I got my PS2, I also needed a component video cable and a memory card.

Later on, I bought a headset to play online.

Oops, if you add all that up, my PS2 cost more than $400...makes the 360 untard pack seem like a great deal to me.

You also ask if you can use the headset that you currently have.

First, I think the answer is no, but I'm not positive.

You can use the current headset if you don't mind using on-screen menus to adjust volume.

I think we are forgetting that a lot of devs will still utilize the HDD to optimize the gaming experience. They just won't require it to be there to play there games. Bethesda has said that the HDD will be utilized to the fullest in Oblivion. Probably to cache data to speed up load times and such. I don't know about you dudes, but load times suck ass. Plus I am going to load up that shit with music so I can do custom playlists and also listen to tunes through my main system. Sorry no media center pc here. I am a mac user and I always thought Airtunes or whatever that shit is called is a total waste of money.

You only need Media Center Edition if you want to stream video, not audio.

Controller $39.99
Component Cabling $39.99
Memory Card $39.99

Pre-tax add-ons $119.97

Hmm... where does the battery pack go -- on top of the controller?
That little compartment in the back houses it.

Buying an Xbox 360 now is retarded, mostly due to the promises of future models with HD-DVD capabilities. When the HD-DVD games come out, why should you own an old 360 anymore?
There won't be any HD games.

That's pretty nifty. I assume when you put the AAs in there there's a separate cap to cover them.

And that view of the controller is sexay.

Wired Controller: 39.99
Component Cable: 39.99
Memory Card: 39.99

Certainly not less than 100... :p

Which is why you go with the premium pack because you're getting far more value for that 100 than you would get if you went with the 'tard pack and seperate HDD.

Premium:
Console
Wireless Controller
Component HD Av Cable
Composite Cable
HDD
Ethernet Cable
Headset
Adv Remote

'Tard:
Console
Wired Controller
Composite Cable

This totally defeats the purpose of making an HDDvd player for the system them... Why wouldn't you just buy a standalone player? :lol

I thought the wireless controller came with the rechargeable battery pack, and buying the recharge pack was just to get a second pack? If not true, someone needs to tell Gamestop.

Exactly. That's why it's stupid to wait for those units with HD players.

I'm pretty sure you fail to realize what the term hub means.

See, a hub would be the device that connects all your fun gadgets in one place. Choice meaning you don't have to buy a next generation, early build HD player. Instead you can wait until the format war ends, the prices come down, and some actual content comes to market. And stuff.

No, it doesn't. But the Charge & Play kit comes with a battery.

I don't know anything. I just like yelling.

I'm not getting an x360 anyway, but is 60$ really worth talking about, when you get HD, better cables and lots of other stuff thrown in? And as already mentioned; sell the things you don't need from the package. You might not make 60$ from it, but it's money too.

The tray is metallic...

Ooooh Ahhh!

You don't want to be disappointed like this guy...

The fact that you know that some games will take advantage of the hardrive through game downloads/updates, cache, etc, and that the drive costs only $60 more than a memory card is what makes buying that memory card retarded. Tard back would less retarded if it actually at least came with a memory card...but it doesn't. The choice is between paying $339 or $399 between the packs, and considering the other stuff you get in the premium pack (regardless if you need them or not), the tard pack will always be pretty damn retarded

If you like online games.
Get the Premium pack. (headset included)

If you think you're gonna use the console for music/movie playback.
Get the Premium pack. (remote controller included. At least for a limited time)

If you own a HDTV set or plan to buy one in the near future.
Get the Premium pack. (component HD AV cable included)

If you want wireless controllers.
Get the Premium pack. (wireless controller included)

Otherwise you could get the Core pack and spend the extra money you would've spent on the Premium pack on games instead.

I'm going with the Core pack + harddrive and an additional standard controller. But I don't live in the US and actually save a bit more than I would with your price range.

Actually, I prefer the tard pack's tray matching the rest of the system's face, though then it clashes whatever faceplate, if you're into that sort of thing.

If I bought a 360, I'd get the premium pack and sell all the other smaller shit I know I wouldn't be using. All one needs is the hard drive, which if you hold onto, anything else sold is pure profit.

BING! BING! BING! BING! BING! Anyone who pays over 300$ for a VIDEOGAME SYSTEM, will hurt all of us in the long run.

It's a fucking TOY, and should be priced as such. 400$ is a PC price-point. SCREW THAT.

So buy the fucking tard pack. Same launch price as the PS2, with the same kind of shit included (wired controller, composite cable, exactly the same fucking thing as the PS2 except you actually get more shit like free ethernet).

If they plan on releasing larger harddrives in the future and 20 gigs isnt enough for you the "tard" pack may not be so bad.
