Is there a better $200(or around $200) MP3 player than the Creative Zen Micro...

I've finally caught the mp3 bug after storing 512MB worth and playing them through my PDA.... but PDA MP3 playing software is limited as shit in terms of display names, sorting by name, or by filename, etc...

I see that the Creative Zen Micro is a 5GB MP3 player and it costs only $200. It's got a built in FM tuner, can be used to store other data besides MP3's, etc....

There's a great list of features and 5GB at $200 seems like a good deal.

Can I do better anywhere else or is this the one to get for around this price?

get anything else.

I have a zen micro for work, and I hate it. User interface is kinda OK, but it uses a touchpad for scrolling AND selecting - you move your finger up and down, and tap to select. Trouble is its really sensitive, so half the time you select the wrong thing and have to back track. Really screws up the experience. Also, the alarm clock option doesn't let you choose a song. It selects one at random for you (not handy if its gentle classical music, or some random podcast)

There are lots of micro 5GB-ish players out there. The iRiver H10 is playforsure in Europe if you have need for WMA-DRM subscription services (US one is USB I think). Toshiba just came out with a new one too.

Ipod mini shouldn't be discounted - if you don't like the price of the 6GB, see if anywhere still have 4GB ones. Also, if you have a big music collection on your PC, iTunes really is the best way to sync - the smart playlists let you manage a smaller collection on the go, and control how its refreshed really well.

zen 5gb micro from creative's website gives you some bonus extras instore does not.

rio carbon's (5gb) are smaller/sleeker/less clumsy & can be had from $140-160 depending on the mood of amazon, etc.

apple store has refurb ipod mini 4GB for $150 w/ 1 year warranty.

The new sony 20GB player. It's a bit more expensive, though cheaper than an ipod. It's also a bit smaller and has a replacable battery, comes in different colors, the menu is great for a non apple mp3 player, great sound etc...

And I'm a sony hater...

If you can get a rio karma, it's 20gigs for $200 ish shipped on ebay. They're pretty much discontinued everywhere else.

No FM tuner.

ipod mini 4GB $199 . No FM radio built in, but a really streamlined mp3 player. Buy a separate pocket FM tuner for $20

Or an iriver H10 5GB, $219 at newegg, so definitely available for under the MSRP of $249

I'm trying to not support Apple, this Iriver looks promising...

for a couple bucks more than the iRiver H10 5gb you can buy a ipod 20gb today
I've seen the iriver at a few reputable places for just $200, doesn't the Ipod photo.. now just Ipod 20gb run $299? And what generation is this newest Ipod the one that use to be called the Ipod photo... is that 3rd or 4th generation?

Unless you absoulutely have to have the other shit (FM tuner, etc.) i'd go with a Dell DJ. 20gb for $200, 30gb for $239. Even cheaper with a mail-in rebate.

I have the 5gb model and it's the shit. Sound quality is great (I have it hooked up in the ride).

get the H10, they're grrrrrrreat!

Aren't you very pro EA? That was the only "joke" I was making.
<groan> So the story goes....

Seriously, what is wrong with Apple?

Nothing is wrong with Apple I just don't feel the need to support their dominance of the MP3 playing and music downloading industry.

Honestly you should try all the players out. Don't blindly buy ANYTHING or you will be sorry.

What's a good store that carries multiple MP3 players "turned on"?
