being that my friend goes to stony brook, they've blocked the use of P2P applications and even direct connect through AIM. is there any program i can use that wouldn't go under the radar to share files with him?
Heh, that's almost freaky. I was just tell the Paris Hilton story last night. Another helpful tidbit: it generally isn't recommended that you mass mail your classmates and ask if they want to participate in an orgy.
I know my University had a hard time blocking Soulseek (www.slsknet.org) because of the network protocol it uses (SSL, I believe). Just don't put popular files on the University's web server >_<
I don't see how you could be expelled for uploading stuff to yousendit.com, since you'd only be uploading whatever to another site, nothing related to your own school's storage.
At the most, you'd get a warning for excessive bandwidth usage.

Because currently the law is such that they are not immune from liability if RIAA or MPAA or IDSA or some other organization comes knocking and saying 'hey someone is trafficking illegal stuff on your network'. So long as the network is theirs and they can suffer penalties for your actions, they are well within their rights.
