Yes, unles you believe of a GPU with Hardware acceleration for REYES AND Ray-Tracing coming so soon ;).

Programmable HOS tessellators != REYES: micro-polygons are part of the story, but then why would you have Fragment Shaders at all ;).

yeah i know but i just random coloured off the pallette to get the same colours again would be a miracle.!!!

I have no circle making tool in my animation shop though!!

in order to get the same color you used, use the "dropper" tool and click on the color you want from any of the frames. Then voila, you've selected that color again. Rinse and repeat for all the colors ;)
 
I can't see Nvidia going out of the norm too much as they still have their core business with the PC
 
There's no way the PS3 will launch this year. Not when the PS2 still has a price drop to $99 ready to go.

A $99 PS2 is a much better strategy to put up against the 360 than the PS3, IMO.

The rumored "Bombshell" is a bit too technical to really set off any waves with the press. I am expecting Sony to brag about sales, then show off alot of PSP upgrades and such, then leave PS3 news to the last part of the conference. Maybe showing off the model and tech specs. PSP should dominate the conference, IMO.
 
I hope the PS3 doesn't launch this year really, as it's starting to seem like a good amount of true next gen games won't be fully ready until 2006, least based on what I saw from the x360 debut.

A mid to late 2006 launch with a "Solid" (no pun intended) lineup would be grand.
 
If we have a Fantavision for PS3 for a 2005 launch then everyone can STFU. Thats all you need and you'll like it. Maybe a Mega Man collection they can throw together on a l unch break too.
 
yeah really, Xbox 360 is already falling into Dreamcast mode where the same game on last gen consoles is also getting a 360 version which means mostly port with minor enhancements.

2006 will be when the real next gen games start to hit.

Sony Considers 2005 PS3 Release

May 12, 2005 - In a surprising twist on the next generation hardware race, a Sony representative has stated that a year 2005 release for the next generation PlayStation is a possibility. Responding to questions from Jiji news service, Sony Chief Financial Officer Takao Yuhara states, "For the year end sales season, simultaneously building up both the PlayStation Portable system in America and Europe as well as the next generation PlayStation is one option that we have."


Most industry speculation calls for a next generation PlayStation release in 2006. Sony's third party developers have backed this assumption up with a strong list of PlayStation 2 titles planned for the rest of the year and early next.
The state of the next generation PlayStation software shown at next week's E3 show should reveal if a 2005 release is a possibility for the new system, or if Yuhara's comments were designed to take some steam out of Microsoft's Xbox 360 unveiling later today.

Well I wouldn't go so far as saying that the X360 = Dreamcast already - it just looks like the good looking next gen games for all platforms won't be ready until 2006.

Pushing the PS3 out the door this year with a list of launch titles that mirror the x360 launch titles would be underwhelming to me, as based on all the hype we should be expecting something truly gigantic coming our way.

Or maybe I'm entirely off base on this, and a good number of devs already have their next gen games ready to go this year.
 
in that quote "For the year end sales season," perhaps he could be refering to the end of the fiscal year which is in what march of the following year? perhaps instead of a launch in 2005 an early 2006 launch?



I think a late 2005 launch would be real bad for MS, I think Gates is banking on a late 2006 release to have Halo 3 ready for it

wonder what would happen if they launched in late 2005 would gates still force Halo 3 to launch against it

Don't go expecting this..

Patents are unreliable, and the "corroborating hints" are coming out of thin air.

I swear, if I hear one person bitch when PS3 is announced without such hardware, I will simultaneous laugh and wag my finger very hard at them ;)
