Is there any debate that Iron Man 2 is the worst MCU movie?

I know Thor Dark World is brought up often but people might be forgetting just how bad, and boring, IM 2 is.

You have one fight scene with the baddie in the middle that lasts about 30 seconds. And then one battle in the end that is even shorter and more anticlimactic. And thats it. Nothing else happens in the other two hours except some Scarjo eye candy.

And the writing is just horrendous. Do people not remember that Rhodey basically just stole the iron man suit? And like, everyone is just ok with that?

I'm not an MCU or Marvel comics fanboy, but I am a fan of good movies. So as a movie fan, in my opinion the worst MCU movies (that I've seen) are as follows:

Ant-Man: Bland movie that doesn't follow its own damn rules that it set up.

Thor: Silly nonsense.

Hulk & Incredible Hulk: Boring, bad cgi. Too long.

Black Panther: Interesting villain killed early. Boring villain kept through movie. Horrible techie sidekick. Worst CGI of the MCUniverse during final battle.

Captain America: Dumb villain, spent too long in the past.

Iron Man 2: Completely forgettable.

Dr. Strange: MCU magic is stupid.

Guardians of the Galaxy 1 & 2: Dumb cartoony nonsense.

Avengers Infinity War: Magic is still stupid.

Spider-Man Homecoming: Nobody in this movie under 25 can act worth a shit. The spidey suit AI was stupid, and the "learning a new suit" antics done better in The Greatest American Hero. The web sucked, the suit CGI sucked, and Iron Man's chauffeur needs to stick to making more Mando.

I liked learning about Tony's relationship with his father. The creating new element was a bit weird and far fetched but bloody hell that Iron Man/War Machine vs drones scene in the Japanese garden is brilliant. The fucking audio in that scene is great.

Sam Rockwell is bloody great too.

Iron Man 2 is very funny and entertaiment, its really veeery far from a bad movie let alone a bad Narvel movie. Iron Man, Iron Man 2 and Avengers 1 were the reason I watch the movies, because I rather prefer DC universe, but their movies really sucks.

Also, Iron Man 3 and Captain Marvel exists.

Thats another thing. They introduced a great villain only to never use him again.

No. Ironman 2 is not the worst MCU movie. The 15mins drone/IM/War Machine ending sequence is still solid AF, as is the production level and suspension of disbelief. Where movies like the Eternals are just space magic shite.

Yeah Iron Man 3 is almost as bad. Its also full of awful writing and wasted opportunities. But at least it had a lot more action and excitement.

Up through through the end of the infinity saga it was at least better than Incredible Hulk, Captain Marvel, and Endgame.

Haven't watched anything after Endgame aside from No Way Home so I can't really compare to the more recent stuff.

Hard to say how it fares compared to NWH. Garfield and Dafoe elevate the hell out of it but the rest of that movie really is awful.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
Iron Man 3 was worse than Iron Man 2 in my opinion. It really came off like a made for TV movie. It's probably one of the worst MCU movies out there, if not the worst.

That and Thor The Dark World
I barely remember that one.

Love and Thunder absolutely stupid. Everything I've seen from it looks beyond stupid.

The humor seems extremely juvenile. I was thinking of how inconsistent the MCU can be when you have very serious movies like Captain America and the Winter Soldier or Black Panther and then you have a movie about beings that outlive and may predate humanity and are absolutely cartoony and goofy to extremes.

I can't wrap my head around deities like Zeus and that one god at the beginning coexist in the same universe with the Winter Soldier and Zemo.

But I guess that's comic books for you.

Among the worst with Ant-Man & The Wasp, Thor 1/2, and Eternals.

Seeing the side characters from Thor almost all effortlessly killed by Hela made me cheer during Thor Ragnarok. Eternals might have been higher but I dislike famous songs that make little sense to the story being used prominently and Time by PF was a terrible choice for the story. The Eternals did fritter away time, but it didn't seem to convey anything beyond that unflattering interpretation and sounding cool.

I like Ben Mendelsohn which boosts Captain Marvel for me, but the movie would likely still have been higher from the alien settings alone. I like Florence Pugh which helped make Black Widow more enjoyable, but I liked the premise of that story too with the taking down the Red Room.

Iron Man 2 is full of great individual moments and character defining moments that don't quite hold together well enough as a full movie.

Here's proof:

These and more are all great moments glued together by a weak foundation and a weak villain.

Apparently there were internal rumors that there could have been a version/draft of this movie that was supposed to be more of a character study of Tony Stark with RDJ acting his ass off, but the suits stepped in and wanted more of a reliable formula, which is why at times this felt like two movies glued together.

It's the most disappointing for me. the 1st movie was so good, then they talked about Tony's alcoholism being addressed in the sequel, it was a bunch of nothing. Robert Downey Jr legitimately battled addiction, if they had done this movie right they could have had an Oscar on their hand.

ya I remember it being described as if they were making the film then realizing they hit the 2 hour mark called it good and just end the film, roll credits.

I can understand how you feel and also I'd argue that Iron Man 2 was the first moment that people witnessed the marvel formula at work. It was just unrefined back then, which is why instead of ending up with a safe movie, we instead ended up with kind of a middling mess.

I've never got why people think it's the worst. It's not the best, but it's got plenty of good parts. None of the good parts are to do with the villain, but there you go.

I've chosen to watch Iron Man 2 more than once, but there are several Marvel movies I've only seen once that are much more forgettable.

At this point, Iron Man 2 being the worst is an old title that was a more serious contender when it was Phase 1, not now it's Phase 4 and a lot more has happened. It probably isn't even bottom 5.

Thor 2 is the worst but Iron Man 2 is definitely low down on the pile along with Hulk. I haven't seen most of what came after Endgame though.

I remember being disappointed by Iron Man 2 because of the high expectations I had after the first one, but everything considered it wasn't bad at all. The Iron Man movies aren't really about the fights anyway (the suit is a bit boring : fly and shoot at everything). It's all about Tony Stark and his technical and "social" skills. Building an armor in a cave. Showing off in shows or in court. Finding a cure for his toxic thingy. Bickering with Potts and Natasha. Inventing a new element in his basement. The memorable moments of the Iron Man movies don't happen when he's in the armor, he's either out of it, building it or putting it on/off.

From what I've seen Spider-Man: No Way Home was the worst.

Haven't seen Eternals and Black Widow because they already looked beyond awful in the trailers.

I haven't seen some of the recent ones due to lack of interest but it's up there with Captain Marvel. I didn't hate The Dark World and I think The Incredible Hulk is actually really solid.
