There were like 2 fucking hundred of them made in the last goddamn decade. How many fucking more do you want?
GOOD ONES!!!!!
Where is 28 Months Later? Where is world war Z 2? George A Romero is dead. Do you know what that means? Do you???

I'm confused, you said good ones then mentioned a sequel to the total shit fest that was World War Z?

And now I'm reminded of how little that movie was like the book and I'm sad again.

You know what, fuck Hollywood, I'm glad they're not able to make this shit anymore and hope the rioters end up eating them all.

There is so much content on streaming sites that I’m good for a while. My couch is more comfortable and my popcorn is just as good. Unless it’s a spectacle movie or a 6 dollar Tuesday, I’m over it.

The pandemic hasn't changed my movie watching habits or desires much TBH. I haven't been interested in going to the movie theater for a long while, or at least since streaming platforms have made finding really good, but older or smaller budget content to stream.

Simply put, I'd rather watch fresh, exciting, lowkey, independent art projects on Netflix than whatever major blockbuster superhero popcorn flick is trending. And I'll always enjoy revisiting older titles and finding hidden gems from previous eras too.

No, it's not the biggest ever.
That would be the drought of '71-'94. Back in the 4th century.
The combination of strikes, poor hygiene and lack of quality umbrellas was too much for the industry to handle.
Some say the movie business has never fully recovered.

Why can’t these fuckers just release movies digitally? Give me fast and furious 23 , I don’t care
I'm seeing posts in here that the drought started in 2008. My biased and stubborn mind thinks th drought in quality cinema dropped out right around 1997. As I stated in another thread...our video games look more realistic and better written than almost everything made by Hollywood in the last 20-some odd years.

But most of the Netflix movies are not that good. And their new series have been kinda lame or go way woke before proper character development gives them proper motivation for being woke. Most of the good stuff on Netflix are the new car fix up shows or the non-American shows they fund to compete with other services.

This is the same Hollywood that got the chance to make the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy and made three incoherent movies that are worse than the Prequels ever were.

I expect nothing from them.

Is this what you want? What you really want?
More movies like the new upcoming all female pirates of the caribian or the all female fast and furious?

There is more entertainment media available from before the turn of the century than you would ever be able to consume in your entire lifetime, and people are like but I NEED NEW PROPAGANDA THAT LOOKS CURRENT

you've seen it?

Wait, you think Shaun of the Dead is shit? The fuck?

Don't listen to him. It is great. The first part of the movie you will be wtfing at how "bad" it is, but at least you have a hot chick as the lead. Then it just ramps up.

That's true. I also watch stuff on Hulu as well. Both are mixed bags, but I often stumble upon awesome movies/shows on each platform, which makes them worth it. Some of my favorite independent films are made outside of the US, too.

I can't even remember the last time I was genuinely excited for a new movie.... Once Upon a Time in Hollywood? There's so much gold out there already, especially if you're willing to go back a few decades and/or read subtitles.

Movie theaters are for troglodytes who enjoy vapid Smashy Bang Bang Part VII, paying twelve dollars for a cup of soda, and not being able to pause when they want to take a piss. I've been cheering for their death for years now - both the movie theaters and the average viewer.
They're holding back film as a medium at this point.

Just download a copy of Le Mepris or Scary Movie 2 and embrace life.

The 70s were the peak, the 80s were pretty fucking excellent too. The 90s is where the rot started. Now, there's honestly very little that interests me in the world of movies. Still, I've got my Plex server with hundreds of awesome movies from the 40s onwards to enjoy.

The only people that give a shit about the 70s were people that were alive back then. It's not the peak of anything except shitty fashion and porn with a plot.
