Issue with Paramount Plus... Subtitles

Hey. So... Every now and then I have an issue with subtitles on Paramount Plus. Most of the time they show up but sometimes, they don't ... Not even the icon to toggle them on and off shows up. This happens even on episodes I've already watched WITH subtitles!

Anyone else have this issue?

Who watches things with subtitles anyway? What are you, deaf?

But actually, what device are you watching it on? I've never personally had issues, but I generally use my iPhone or Apple TV.

According to most streaming services, yes. Netflix especially seems to have closed captions instead of subtitles.

Its annoying. Then if I have subtitles off they wont show up for foreign language sections. I have watched stuff that I've seen before that had subtitles for certain parts, show no subtitles on the netflix version.

For a billion dollar company they seem a bit shit

no idea. in germany I don't even know if Paramount+ has its own app, you usually book it through amazon and watch it in the Prime Video app.
and from the few times I watched stuff from them I didn't have the issue on the Prime Video app.

Never had the issue but we sub via prime video app. We almost always have subtitles on just because it reveals a lot of shit with how bad audio mixing is. Watch a movie you've seen 10 times w/o subtitles on and that 11th time with them on you'll learn a bunch of shit lol

This is an issue and it varies wildly based on the device you are using. There was a reddit thread a few years & months ago about a similar issue.
I started looking into the issue because my mom complained about it and JFC is that the fastest way ON EARTH to get something fixed.

Anyway on android (shield and amazon devices PRIOR to their stupid Vegas OS shift) it was a combination of app settings and system level settings that fixed it for her on her downstairs TV.
Her kitchen and bedroom both have roku's and that one was the MAJOR PITA. Long story there, complete uninstall and rolled back to an older version of the Roku App (not worth the trouble). Eventually it was fixed in an app update, but they preached the holy trinity:
1) Update the app.
2) Restart the device.
3) Uninstall the app then Install the app again.

None of that worked for me on my moms Roku devices, it was use an old side loaded app for a few weeks.

Have not had this issue on any of my Apple TV's personally.

Sometimes subtitle issue that DT has mentioned happened to me too. I don't have Paramount+ myself, but happened to me on Disney+... most often when I'm playing thru my LG OLED TV's native Disney+ app.

In my case, I sometimes have poor bandwidth, especially with Disney+ for whatever reason... and sometimes the subtitles skip a few lines, annoyingly. I could tell, because the picture becomes rather low-res off and on.
(Doesn't happen on Netflix - very few bandwidth/lowres issue, and zero subtitle issues)

So I always thought it's the bandwidth/connection issue.
