Wait, he did that? I hear that movie is utter trash. Doesn't bode well.

Yeah, his directorial debut. The film went through production hell before Netflix finally picked it up for wide release. I’ll shamefully admit to avoiding the movie due to poor reviews.

Mowgli is not bad, it's just weird and the pacing is off. It's obviously unfinished - the very first scene is a compositing disaster and the flow of the final section is strange, probably missing scenes.
It does some things better than Disney's version. That includes the lead, who is a great kid actor, and the emotional punches. There are some brilliant scenes and visuals but the movie is somehow less than the sum of its parts. The design of the animals is weird as hell, some Dr. Moreau vibes there lol

I was never even that much of a fan of Venom in the comics and Carnage I just flat out disliked, but the first movie was some enjoyable, mindless fun and Hardy was fun to follow. Adding in Woody Harrelson for the sequel just makes me even more hyped.

IMO Venom is one of the worst comic movies I've watched and the last fight is impossible to tell what is even happening. Hardy was fun to watch with his split personality going on though, that fun is lost by the end of the film though as they start to get along.

My wife and I watched the first one for the first time this weekend. I thought it was great! All of the typical MCU fat trimmed off and nothing but a goofy, punchy superhero movie left behind.

Definitely excited for a sequel where Carnage gets to come out and play.

As far as writers go, IMDB lists Kelly Marcel as the lone writer for Venom 2 (she also was one of 3 writers credited for Venom). Her writing credits include Fifty Shades of Grey, Cruella, Venom, and episodes of Terra Nova. Not sure what to make of it, as I've not seen any of the other movies/shows she wrote for besides Venom.

I enjoyed the first Venom. It was a hell of a lot better than what they tried to do in Spider-Man 3, so I was pleased. I’d like to see some interaction with Spider-Man, though, and I really want that white spider logo on Venom’s chest sometime on the future. Carnage will be awesome to see on film, and I think Woody will do a good job as Cletus Cassidy. He might be 58, but Tom Hardy ain’t a spring chicken either. I am definitely looking forward to this movie. Let’s get it, boys.

This thread has been updating lately and I keep hoping we get a teaser soon or something. I loved the first one. Legit. I know it’s not “quality” or whatever but I thought it was fuckin awesome.

I am excited for this sequel. I am going to share the sentiment I see above. The first movie was fun and enjoyable. Definitely wouldn't call it great though. But with what they are doing with the Spider-Man movies and (more importantly) Into the Spider-Verse and the SPider-Man Game. I am super pumped on the Spider-Man IP and jonesing for more. So if Serkis directs, ill probably give them my dollar.

Should be good fit. Serkis is the king of green screen and honestly should have been nominated for his role of Caesar. His knowledge and advice to the cast should go a long way to boost performances.
