More X-MEN 3 News! Want To Know Which New X-Men Are Joining The Team This Time!!

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
The same little birdie from Fox came a tweet-tweet-tweetin’ at my door today to give me some more X-MEN 3 news for all of you. And this time, I’m not even going to tease you about it.

Seems that Professor Xavier is adding three new team members this time out. Personally, I think I’m happiest to hear that BEAST will be joining the X-Men. I love that blue furry bastard, and it sounds like he’s going to serve the same role in these films that Morpheus did in THE MATRIX.

All of you Cajun fans can finally rest easy. GAMBIT will indeed be part of the film this time around, and expect them to cast a fairly big name in the role.

Now... what would a bit of superhero news be without some controversy? Ready for this one? ANGEL will be in the movie. But ANGEL... will be a girl.

Rev those fanboy engines and bloody up the TalkBacks. This thing’s getting more concrete by the day, and as they cast these roles, we’ll hopefully have some more news for you.

That's it, Marvel has finally taken a turn for the worse with their movies. Hulk, Punisher, Elektra, Fantastic Four, and now this.

With Nolan doing Batman, Singer doing Superman, and Joss doing Wonder Woman it looks like the DC stuff is taking over from the Marvel movies as far as good comic book movies go. Hell, Constantine wasn't even that bad and it was damn cool to see that giant Vertigo logo on the big screen.

Ugh. This and the not so Fantastic Four. Yeah it looks like the brains have headed over to the DC side. Although i'm kinda worried about Watchmen and V for Vendetta. And I say good. I like DC far more than Marvel.

No way to be sure whether or not the movie will be good, but this strikes me as nothing more than typical fanboy bitching. Boo hoo.

its a guy not a girl!!! WTF man why do directors and producers change the damn charakters in to something they are not in the comic book?

yes to make the story work for them, but why cant they make it work with the characters that is given to them from the original material?

It's an interesting take if it turns out to be true. Angel was a lame ass character, and like someone else said, the only reason people even cared about him was due to him turning evil and joining Apocalypse.

Turning the character into a female is a good move, especially since it avoids having a blonde, fruity looking metrosexual named Warren flying around with white feathery wings.

Phoenix's powers are usually represented by a large fiery image of a phoenix. That was what you were seing beneath the water.

Pretty much. Sounds like a stupid thing to bitch about.

K seriously, in the scope of things, the character changes in the first two X-men really did'nt affect much. The movies are still pretty awesome.

With Angel... I don't even think he should be in the movie in the first place, they have enough characters as it is. Having Beast AND Gambit is enough already. I don't evne think Gambit will fit good, how many lead character looking guys do they need? I mean Cyclops is the LEADER of the X-men and he's a secondary character.

Why would you buy a license to a story, only to change that story? If you want to do flying girl with wings, why not save yourself the money and just do flying girl with wings.

I'll b*tch about it, because IMO a male Angel has more... I dunno, impact, than a female would. Seems to me that the classic image of a Biblical angel, as envisioned by the general public, is a radiantly beautiful (dare I say metrosexual), curly-haired blonde guy with wings.

That's Angel. Picture this, it's an opening scene I cooked up for X3, using Marvels as a jumping-off point...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's the dark of night on a quiet summer evening in Anytown USA. An angry, gun-toting, torch-bearing mob is roaming the streets; they're out for blood. Average men and women, cops, lawyers, homemakers, children and teens, even a priest is among them. The cops have got scenting dogs in their midst, on the trail of something... or someone. Suddenly a woman screams out; the mob turns as one, and runs down to a nearby alleyway. They've cornered their quarry - a little mutant girl. She's maybe 12 years old, but undeniably a mutant, as evidenced by her freakishly enormous eyes and skull-like face. She's frightened, crying... the mob advances, tenatively at first - they're as scared as she is - but then more confidently, screaming obscenities at her. Suddenly the little girl lashes out, reacting out of terror; an energy wave knocks back the first few advancing men. Shocked and scared, the mob hesitates... then one of them throws a rock, striking the little girl on her head and knocking her down. Confident again, the crowd advances, as the mutant girl first struggles to rise, then covers her face as the first blow rains down...

But that first blow never comes. She uncovers her face, and looks to see the mob has retreated to the alley's entryway. They're staring in awe and fear at something behind her. She turns her gaze away from the mob and sees... an Angel. A light from down the alley shines through his wings, wreathing his body in a haunting, heavenly glow. His golden hair shines in the light, and wreathes his head in halo effect. With one smooth, fluid motion, he reaches down and scoops up the awestruck mutant girl, who instinctively clutches to her savior. The mob begins to advance, but one stern look from the creature standing before them freezes them in their tracks. A rush of wind sweeps the alley, as the Angel unfurls his wings and effortlessly launches himself into the air, carrying the little mutant girl away from her would-be killers, who now watch as the miracle that landed in their midst flies away into the night.

Soaring through the night sky, the little mutant girl looks down at the ground far below, then up at her savior. Noticing her gaze, the Angel turns his piercing blue eyes from the horizon to stare at his passenger. In a hushed voice, she asks, "Are... are you bringing me to God? To heaven?" Her savior then beams at her, a broad and warm smile, before turning and wheeling through the air, giving the little mutant girl the ride of her life. As dawn breaks, they reach their destination - the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters. As light as a feather, Angel lands upon the ground and sets the little girl down. A pair of figures await them nearby.

"Hello Maggie," Xavier says to the little girl. The little mutant girl clutches to Angel's leg tightly, scared once more. From behind Xavier steps Rogue, who comes forward and extends her hand to Maggie. Maggie looks up to her Angel, who nods down at her and motions towards Rogue. Maggie takes Rogue's gloved hand, and the two walk together into the mansion, leaving Angel and Xavier together at the entrance.

Xavier is first to speak, "Good work, Warren," he says.

"We were lucky this time, Professor. This one... was close," Angel replies.

Xavier pauses. "Yes... yes, it was."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand you get the general idea.

See, for that kind of thing to work, I think Angel's gotta be a guy. :)

lemme tell you something son, this guy is SO FARKING HUGE HE'LL FLEX AND DESTROY THE SUN no shit

Jean Claude Van Damme is BACK, baby!

It's time to relive the golden age of "doing-the-splits" once per movie!

Someone get me that dancing Van Damme avatar from Kickboxer!

you just know they will get justin timberlake or some other teen idol to play him. Johnny Depp back in the 21 jump St days would have been a perfect choice.

More on the New X-Men 3 Characters
Source: IGN Filmforce
March 17, 2005

IGN Filmforce has a follow-up to the news that Beast, Gambit and Angel will appear in X-Men 3.

The site says that Angel will indeed be male, not female as was previously reported, and it will be a major character in the film.

Beast is expected to be seen in his transformed part while Gambit is not expected to be a major character. Cyclops also won't have a big role in the story, the site adds.

So the woman he loves "dies", only to mysteriously return, and Cyclops still isn't going to have a major role?!

Riiight. That makes perfect sense.

Whatshisface is committed to Superman with Singer, so he probably doesn't have much time to do X-Men 3. You'll probably just see a drunk Scott pissed off as a quick cameo and he'll be written out of most of the movie.

I agree that it's a big joke that Cyclops isn't a major part of the story but look at how they've treated the role from the beginning. They got a nobody to play the part in a movie full of big names. What did we really expect?

But honestly, It's a crime that cyclops hasn't been featured as much.

I thought X-Men 2 hinted at the Phoenix Saga? Making Angel a female is just freaking stupid. Gambit and Beast are a plus, though. We'll see how this develops...

Fuck gambit. Where the fuck is

Juggernaut isn't a mutant. The X-Men movies are focused on the relationship between mutants and humans. And Juggy's backstory is far too corny to be adapted into the movie without an extreme overhaul.

God forbid a character named "Angel" be a girl. Plus, who the hell has even heard of Angel? If you'd heard of Angel before this thread, you're not the target audience for X-Men 3 anyway.

Do we have it confirmed by anyone but Famke Janssen that the Dark Phoenix storyline is being explored in this next one? I have to wonder if things haven't changed considering Cyclops' limited role.

I'm not sure why the Angel thing is still being discussed since I trust IGN Filmforce's sources more than those of AICN.

Im not gonna freakout yet since IGN Filmforce chimed in on the rumour and their source claimed angel will be male.

IGN FilmForce checked with its super-secret X3 insider who declared that "Angel is male!" We were advised that Angel (a.k.a. Warren Worthington III) will be a "major character" as will Beast.

Beast will be seen in his transformed state and will be played by a different actor than Steve Bacic, who appeared as Hank McCoy in X2.

Overall, our source confirmed the rest of the AICN report as accurate but emphasized that "Gambit is not a major character." While the ragin' Cajun enjoyed a relationship with Rogue in the comics, it's uncertain whether that will be a part of X3 in any way (or how any potential affair will sit with Rogue's current beau, Bobby "Iceman" Drake).

hopefully ign's source is right.

I'm still trying to figure out if that's sarcasm or not. Either way, it's still funny. :lol :lol :lol
