It pains me to say it but... (Solar Opposites)

S1 of Solar Opposites > S4 of Rick and Morty.

The only thing I dislike in SO are the references to Hulu. Hulu will be gone in the next few years and the jokes will age poorly.

I've watched the first couple episodes of Solar Opposites and I cant say Im super thrilled about it. I havent seen Rick and Morty season 4 yet but SO feels like Hulu paid them a lot of money to basically make another R&M show as an exclusive and the creators put about 1/2 the effort into it.

It gets much better.. especially when the terrarium subplot heats up.

It pains me to say it but

you suck at making titles
Most people can’t get away with an open ended title.. I’m not most people. The fine folk of GAF genuinely care what pains ME and know if it’s important enough to garner my attention, it’s more than thread-worthy.

Ive really liked season 4 so far; the terminator snakes, the time crystals, the heists, the story train, the cat. the toilet utopia, were all great. I also liked solar opposites feels like 1/2 rick and morty 1/2 american dad with the use of advance tech to cause happenings in a neighborhood combined with repeating unrelated storylines. Like I could totally see Stan and Roger arguing over who will be head of the HOA and Stan gets nanobots from the CIA to spy on everyone who become self aware

The terrarium subplot is the best thing the show has going for it.

I don't dislike the rest of it. It's worth the watch. I just find the writing shit compared to R&M.

There’s a fairly graphic butt eating scene and multiple analingus references.

I've only watched the first episode so far and it seemed like R+M lite. Glad it picks up though, so I'll definitely give the rest a shot.

I was initially skeptical, but I just finished season 1 and really enjoyed it by the end. The characters really grew on me, and I really liked the "Wall" sub-plot. Hopefully it continues in season 2.

If you think Hulu will survive the streaming wars..
Hmm, looking at subscriber counts on wiki, I figured Hulu's would be way higher. That sucks, it's my most-watched service. The problem seems to be in the "Areas Served" column. Is Hulu really only available in the US and Japan? Wtf? Although in Hulu's wiki article, it says Disney is planning an international Hulu rollout starting in 2021, so hopefully that helps.

Solar Opposites I'm through ep6. Not much of a fan, but I'll finish out the last two episodes in the next day or two.
Rick and Morty s4 I still need to get on ep7, Amazon alerted me it was released today so maybe tonight :X

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
S4 EP8 was great. I have yet to watch Solar Opposites, but I definitely felt the last episode was one of the best R&M ones.

eh. I have watched 4 or 5 episodes. Not great so far. Its too close to Rick and Morty and for tof cheap in writing. Something is off.

Is So another cartoon?

I haven't watched a decent adult animated show since Archer (which came after the simpsons, Southpark, family guy and American dad)

I'm a couple of episodes in... not looking good. Haven't even chuckled once so far.. The main character has zero charisma, he just doesn't compare to Rick.

I think it’s going to be the same situation as Rick and Morty for me. I’ll watch a season or two a couple of times and then one day just end up with a “Heh, that was kinda funny” moment.

But that's the joke. :messenger_winking:

I will say that to me anyway that Justin Roiland just ad-libbed the shit out of everything he said and the animators had to work around it. Thought it was good at any rate
and the wall parts and eventual episode were highlights.

Been watching a bit of this.
It's fun enough that I'll keep watching but I don't think it's as good as Rick and Morty. The humor seems worse, the characters are mostly just annoying and the different scenarios and stories are less imaginative.
As someone said above, just feels like Hulu paid them to make "something like Rick and Morty" and they probably ended up stitching this together with some discarded R&M ideas they had.

I agree that the terrarium subplut is the best thing. Sort of wish they'd made the show about that instead, though I don't know if it would work as a full show.

Anyone else watching the new season of this with the VA recast for Justin Roiland’s character?
