Well, got some mixed news today. The car is no longer totalled, and will now be repaired. I really don't know how or why this has happened, but I'm still waiting to talk to my claims rep to iron some of this out.

Long story, short, I've still got my lovely penis car, and don't need to worry about anymore options *phew*. But it also means that I must now scrutinize the repair process to ensure the car is fixed to my satisfaction.

It was fairly significant front end damage. Luckily, the engine is in the back, so the only parts that really got damaged was the radiator and the brake fluid reservoir. Maybe some power steering fluid, I don't know. Anyone have experience getting their car repaired? Any horror stories? I am gonna wring it by the neck the moment I get it back, to make sure everything is still in one piece. But I want to make sure it's 100%. When I went to take off some of my aftermarket parts from the car, one of the chassis braces refused to go back on. The hole was misaligned. That suggests frame damage. The repair estimate includes "pull and square" as one of the repair items. I hate the sound of that. Frame damage should be an instant total loss IMO. :(

So I got Progressive, and they've been decent with me so far, except for today being my claims rep's last day. If I get the car back and I can't remount some of my parts b/c of misaligned holes, I intent on chewing someone out on the phone. Is this a reasonable thing? I mean, I'm REALLY worried about frame damage, b/c the car's integrity will be compromised. Has anyone else had an insurance company re-total a car or something the repair wasn't good enough? I love this car to death, but I don't want it if it's scarred. :( PEACE.

how did you wreck this thing duane?

also, like most modern cars the mr2 is unibody, so there's really no distinction between frame and body damage. still, i would try to argue for a total, especially if someone else's insurance is paying for it.
