A Shining Example
I'm gonna go with November 17th....just shy of two weeks.

Does anyone want to take a stab at what they think will happen in the middle east after he croaks?

Just heard it on the news, Arafat is gone.

We may as well prepare for more deaths of soldiers in Iraq as revenge

Yes, because George W. Bush made Arafat braindead!

Nope, but its deeply rooted if you ask the people of the Mid east who hate the West.

What the hell does Arafat's health problems have to do with that?

ARAFAT IS DEAD NOW I HATE AMERICA MORE ARGH!

Believe it or not, I think Ariel Sharon would be happier to see him alive. Arafat is someone they can't deal with, and thus there is no pressure on Israel. They've been able to persue a unilateral strategy because with Arafat in charge, it is, they say, impossible to negotiate a settlement. With Arafat gone, a new, moderate leadership will eventually emerge - one which Israel will have to deal with. They'll no longer be able to use Arafat as a scapegoat, and will have to persue a negotiated settlement verus unilateral action.

Seriously..I mean Israel has worked to keep him alive in the past. At times when they learned that his opponents, for example, Syria were looking to kill him, they passed that intelligence on to the Palestinians in order to try and avoid it.

edit - AP says the US has been told that he is critical and semi-concious.

Why is it that we Americans are supposed to be on Israel's side again?

That's what I'd like to know....

Well quick have someone crack him over the head!

Simple. Any rational, well-reasoned argument against America's continued support of Israel will label you an anti-semite in this country.

For all intents and purposes, Israel is the 51st state. $4.5Bn of annual US military and economic aid is proof enough.

Well the fact of the matter that when Arafat dies Isreal says they won't allow his body back to the Holy City for burial tells you how they feel about peace. If they let them bury the man there that would do a lot to put the peace process on the right track.

That was a rhetorical question.

Arafat dying is a nonevent were it not for the fact that all hell could break loose. He's still technically the guy holding things together, and although he's doing a shit job of that, at least it isn't a total free-for-all. With him gone, I think Palestine is up shit's creek, and that dick Sharon will use any excuse he can to deny them power. How about guessing the day Sharon gets his come-uppance. Maybe the PLO should pool their money to buy an assault chopper to blow his dumb ass up in front of innocent bystanders. PEACE.

Its reported that Yasser is the only person to have access to the PA bank accounts, if he dies, no one gets the money.

And that's why there's a dead terrorist stuck in a bed with machines pumping blood and air throughout his body...

His "wife" hadn't even seen him for 2 or 3 years since last week, IIRC...

EDIT: Fixed
