Ah, it's been a while. I need to do this more often.

This is a goth/thrash rock-opera rendition of FF7's "Judgement Day" in the style of MUSE. This song borrows heavily from "Apocalypse Please" and a little from "Stockholm Syndrome". This version is tweaked differently from the DoD version. Strings aren't as blaring and the mix is tightened up more, with a little added a little to it.

Arrangement and production is by me. Dan "you're not cookin" Orosz did the guitars and fucking rocked as usual. Violins are real mixed with Sonic Implants.

This is AMAZING!

Square needs to hire some of these people...

Eh, sure why not. :P

http://www.vgmix.com/song_view.php?song_id=4589 - Mega Man X - Light in the Fortress

That's the actual winner of the DoD month The Twelfth Commandment participated in. Made by housethegrate, maybe some people remember him from the guitar-playing videos I posted a while back. R0x.

In case you don't know what DoD is, click here. It's just a pretty badass monthly arranging competition.

These need to be reposted every remix thread:
machinae_supremacy-gianna_sisters.mp3
machinae_supremacy-sidology_1-sid_evolution.mp3

01:57 Rocky Star (Kim Christensen / Future Freak, ©1988 Dexion)
03:38 Deflektor (Ben Daglish, ©1988 Gremlin Graphics)
04:42 Outrun (episode one) (Jeroen Tel / Maniacs of Noise, ©1989 US Gold/Probe)
machinae_supremacy-sidology_3-apex_ultima.mp3
00:00 Flimbo's Quest (Reyn Ouwehand & J. Bjerregaard, ©1990 System 3)
01:10 Bubble Bobble (Peter Clarke, ©1987 Firebird)
02:07 Arkanoid (Martin Galway, ©1987 Imagine)
02:47 Monty on the Run (Rob Hubbard, ©1985 Gremlin Graphics)
04:26 Commando (Rob Hubbard, ©1985 Elite)
05:34 Outrun (episode three) (Jeroen Tel / Maniacs of Noise, ©1989 US Gold/Probe)

I love Ultima remixes so Trollbash gets a mention. Anything by Ailsean, Virt, AmIEvil, Graylightning, goat, kLuTz, AE, Darkesword and Darangen is usually good.

edit: Tetris medley by Motherbrain

vgmix kicks the shit out of ocremix, as this thread has shown those remixes are just... wow.

btw just the other day I was looking for some good Megaman remixes does anyone knows some good ones? I mostly listen to vgmix stuff, but if there is a good remix in ocremix that is welcome too.

edit: that housethegrate remix of Megaman X is rocking man that guy is genius his Castlevania Clockwork was also amazing.

:lol

that one is good yes, but the housethegrate stuff is just fucking amazing. Sized With Fury and that video with him doing Castlevania 3 - Clockwork are much better.

Besides the one I just posted, I really like this one http://vgmix.com/song_view.php?song_id=5113 (syllogism already got it :P)

Here's a few others, but I can't vouch for their quality as I haven't listened to them too much(they are from the top tier):

http://vgmix.com/song_view.php?song_id=5557
http://vgmix.com/song_view.php?song_id=4758 (except for this last one, this Vurez guy has a bunch of really sweet MM6 stuff)

Hey, check out his brother(Ashane), playing the battle theme from Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest - http://vgr.dragolf.net/video/Ashane/ashane-rca.wmv ;)

Personally, I like this stuff even more than House's, like for example:
Secret of Mana - Rose of Solemn

Love the SFII Vega theme, but it could've used some low backing vocals. Still the track definitely has a bullfight arena vibe to it.

for real? better download that one fast.

If you're a Super Metroid fan you'll be hooked instantly, I assure you. :P

fun fact: virt(artist behind that track) is the founder/owner of vgmix. probably the best arranger out there...an is actually a professional in the industry(mostly handheld games, his big break so far is Legend of Kay, a platformer on PS2)

Basically every single MP3 on this site. It doesn't matter whether you know the series, it doesn't matter whether you know the music... As long as it's rock, and nearly everything there is, it's awesome. My five favorites are probably these, though, in no order:

Hituzi - What it's from, I have no idea. It sounds like something out of a Mega Man X game, except five times better.
Fighting of the Spirit - The summon spirit battle theme from the Tales series.
The Decisive Battle Ver 2.01 - Final Fantasy 6 boss battles.
Big Blue - From the F-Zero series.
SMB2 - Speed metal SMB1 (yes, 1) theme.

Runners-up include "Forever Tor-Ganey," "Main Theme" (I don't know from what), "Wish," "Battle 3+2" from Lufia 2 (Sinistrals and bosses), and the boss battle medley that's in Japanese but can be identified by its filename of FF4579.zip.

I'd be more into those guys if they used real guitars in their stuff...

Hmm... I don't know, maybe it's just because I'm too used to fake instruments in video game remixes, but does anybody actually use the real ones? I mean, off the top of my head, there's The OneUps, but they only make like one remix a year or so.

Nearly all of the arrangements I've posted in this thread use real guitars/bass. :P Vgmix is down now, though. :P

Better even, check Dwelling of Duels, it's a montly video game arranging competition where the rule is that the main instrument has to be live.

fuck vgmix is down :(

I have the Castlevania medly though which is fucking awesome 12 minutes of balls to the wall, face melting metal baby. best medly I've heard.

if anyone wants it, and if that's allowed here in GAF I can upload it.

Do you think it's better than the virt Metroid one? If it is, PM ;)

good stuff there.. love the big blue remix :D

I would love to make a thread where we post our favorite mp3s of real game music.

But I hear we can't do that. :\

Can someone give me a straight yes or no to posting game music from soundtracks? Because I don't see how that would be against any rules, as I'm pretty sure it's okay to share them in America/Europe on forums. Not positive, but...

Anyway, everyone's posted my favorite remixes. heh

There is a really good Castlevania SOTN remix of Wandering Ghosts. It was the latin remix. I'm trying to find the non-midi version. It was really good. Post if you have it.
