And all those 14 year olds that were getting their parents or older siblings to buy GTA for them before will still be able to convice someone to get it for them now. The only hurdle is stores like Blockbuster and EBgames need to start carrying AO games.

Not gonna happen because AO = NC-17 = soft porn in the eyes of the majority.

Besides, if stores were more open to an AO rating, then his cause would be lost and he'd demand an even higher rating. He doesn't give a damn about what it says on the box, that it clearly states "over 17 only" and the games content. He wants these games out of stores. And the easiest way to do that at the moment is to demand an AO rating. If the AO rating was ever accepted, then he'd demand an XXX rating, or whatever it takes to enable him to keep bitching

I am SO FREAKIN SICK OF ALL THIS POLITICAL CORRECT GARBAGE!!! It's tearing our country apart! I mean when Tug of War is changed to "Tug of Peace" you KNOW something is screwed up! Jack Thompson is FAR worse than Lieberman IMO. While I don't agree with Liebermans views that videogames are of the devil, I don't have a problem with him wanting a rating system; which we have. It says on the box what is in it. What more do they want??

And Walmart, and Toys R Us, and Target. Where the majority of casuals go to fund the games industry. Its a big freaking hurdle and a ton of dough is lost as soon as that AO sticker is slapped on the box. It really is the equivalent to NC-17 in movies where in the US newspapers wont run your ads and the majority of theaters wont even carry your films without hesitation. Its the kiss of death.

The ESRB should be commended in a way for establishing itself this quickly in the minds of retailers where AO is considered a taboo that can kill sales. Thompson and his ilk are aware of this and thats why they're pushing so hard for it to happen, despite the complete hypocrisy compared to the movie industry. If something like The Devil's Rejects can get rated R in a blink of an eye (for sadistic violence, sexual content, language and drug use according to MPAA) why is the videogames industry getting the Salem treatment?

And another is that I don't believe the game industry is as contributive to political campaigns and causes (on both sides of the aisle) as the movie industry and its stars are.

HEY GUYS think about it. What about next-gen games? Can you imagne games in 2007 with more realistic blood and gore. Games on the PS3 and X360 will get Jack's attention everyday.

The brutal way in which he treats Alex, the brutal way in which he rapes her, the way he behaves with the travesty (can we say that in english) does *not* make him a poor guy...

Sure this is brutal, even barbaric.. but in a sense, I Can understand why they did it, I can somehow find some kind of justification.. but otoh, what kind of excuses can you find for Le Tenia? What understanding can you have? He's shown in his most brutal ways after all
