Jack Thompson loves the 360!

Now he can shut the fuck up...

Oh look - responsibility back in the parent's hands. What is the world coming to?

that would suck if the kid bought a Mature game with the money he saved up for weeks finding out he cant play it on his machine.

It would also suck if videogames had to be censored if features like this didn't exist, and people like Jack Thompson had their way.

And I assume Japan's CERO system will be on there.

Wonder if it'll contain all of them in the system's information for the day people find out how to run imports on it.

If his/her parents warned the child not play mature games and yet he ignores them and goes ahead and buys/borrows a adult game the kid deserves to lose his/her money.

And dont give all that bullshit about "what if he/she didnt know?"

You know very well what you're parents allow you to do and not to do. Bounderies are set at an early age, you abide by their rules and expectations.

Its a good idea by MS, expanding on what Xbox already managed to do. The X360 seems to powered by incredibly robust firmware, and it seems as if MS have everything covered. XBL, rewards, custom soundtracks, controller management, global settings etc

Again, setting a new standard for others to follow

Yeah, but what's up with the non-standard ratings???

As if parents need to be any more confused.

Whats confusing? You read the description and make a selection.

I dont know how it works in US, but over here in the UK, each rating is pretty easy to follow.

E 12+ 16+ 18+

To add to what someone said previously, if you look closely at the watermark on the image, it seems to come from a site with an ".au" domain, as in "Australia".

In any case, can't you do this with the Xbox, or is it only for DVDs?

Those with greater cerebral fortitude managed to work it out already but, yes, those are Australian ratings and symbols. There were no parental controls on the Xbox for Australian Xboxen that I know of, so that's why it's new for us but old for you guys.

confused? why the hell would a good parent be confused?

they will get up and research and know what the kid is into.

for Christ sake it's our children , we should know them like the back of our hands if we are doing a proper job raising them.

Parents should be involved enough with their children to be able to decide what games to allow and what shouldn't be allowed.

At any rate, if you have to have rating system and vchips and such, at least make them all use the same ratings. Parents who are too lazy to pay attention to what their kids are doing are going to be too stupid to figure out 5 or 6 different systems all with the same basic goal.

Either way, jack should mind his own damn business. He doesn't know what he's doing or talking about and it shows.

Thats KobunHeat right ?

Well, after extensive google searching (15 seconds, my new record) I have yet to dig up anything on what KobunHeat looks like, but nah that's me. I'm such an ugly hairy bastard I could be the 17th colossus.

Time to mold some concrete bracelets and a hakama.

poor kids. they don't have much going for them now a days, now they have to deal with this?

as if the cartoons and toy commercials weren't bad enough.

i look at that picture and can only recoil in terror contemplating the average cleanliness of people's hands who have touched that previous to her licking it...

Maybe that's what gets her off.
