James Franco bares almost all in creepy new Instagram pic

JAMES Franco’s Instagram account, always one of the more bizarre facets of his public persona, just got a hell of a lot weirder.

Today the Hollywood star posted a rather disturbing selfie online: hair dishevelled, skin glistening with sweat, old-man-underpants yanked halfway down his bum crack and right hand shoved down the front for a lazy fumble of the Franco fragiles.

‘James Franco posts revealing underwear selfie’ sounds kind of amazing in theory, doesn’t it? Why did he have to make it so ... upsetting in practice?

Even more unsettling: Franco captioned the pic ‘JUMP ROPE’. What does this MEAN, James Franco? Is it some sort of coded reference to your wang, which you seem to be holding so tenderly as you gaze dead-eyed into the camera?

Given Franco’s well-documented love of performance art, perhaps this picture should be taken as a comment on other celebrities’ obsession with presenting themselves impeccably, even in supposedly ‘candid’ social media posts?

Or maybe Franco’s just a sweaty oddball with a penchant for sticking his hands down his pants and documenting the results?

We may never know.

UPDATE: Less than an hour after posting the offending photo, Franco has deleted it from his account. Did he heed our advice? Unfortunately, on the internet, nothing really goes away - especially when you have 1.9 million Instagram followers.

It's pretty obvious Franco is commenting on the social perception of attraction. As a sex symbol himself, he is mocking societies concept of beauty and the ridiculousness of the "topless selfie." He's forcing the viewer to look at those dead eyes and creepy stance and think to themselves, "this is what we consider attractive?"

Or you know....he's just high as fuck.
