Having just watched the Dude Love vs Stone Cold match at Over the Edge 98 I'm thinking that the WWE title match this sunday could draw some inspiration from it, have Otunga replace Vince's Stooges as the guy announcing Lauriniatis' mid match rule changes followed up by a smug sip from his coffee.

And hopefully Cena will rewatch his match against Umaga from RR07 and think "by golly that was a good monster match, it sure would be swell if me and Kane had a brutal Monster match like this one or else Baloney, fudge and mustard!"
Meanwhile Kane should revise his current attempts at being a monster, people don't want to see a slow plodding affair where the most brutal action is lightly lobbing your opponent into barricades. Of course knowing WWE the match is going to be a straight up single match with DQ rules so all hope is already lost, still I want to believe!

Obey your thirst, Sprite ight!!!

Every Station on the Kane Cycle is being stopped at, as you may imagine these trains go off the rails to reach such points, next stop is Kane romancing Eve.

Continuing to screw up Kane/Cena aside I enjoyed that Raw. Can't help but feel that the Jericho segment was a waste of all that weekly silence with his first statement being as bland as possible, am I supposed to believe Jericho is going to use Undertaker style powers at the rumble when he enters and collapses the ring?
Angry Cena face was great, best part of Raw, i'm disappointed they didn't follow up on it with him giving Kane an aggressive beat down but I guess they needed to spend all that time on this feud having Kane give Swagger an extended squash and Cena stand there startled for 10 minutes after Ryder took the plunge.
Kane will get beat down this Sunday, then they'll have him squash a random wrestler on Monday (probably Santino) to help make up for it, lol. I knew this would happen the moment he was placed on RAW, as the RAW writers just don't know how to use him. He was always at his best on SD!

After having a night to digest Raw how do you guys feel about it now? It was a decent Raw IMO. I think they didn't talk about the importance of the Rumble match itself enough, and tried to put the focus on the Punk-Ziggler match more. Also they wasted Johnny Ace's beat down for a lackluster moment that really didnt pop. Oh yeah Triple H is back next week to take the show away from the actual talent again. Actually now that I look back at it, it was a pretty weak Raw. At least Funkasaurus and Jericho were good...

Damn! More Naomi please.

Finally saw the Kane v Ryder match. I really do like Kane's new entrance, but it would be much cooler if he came out wearing his original mask, and then rip the mouth piece off once he gets to the ring so he can breath.

So, didn't catch Raw last night. Anyone wanna do a tiny little pros and cons list to keep me fresh?

Is this the match where Cena goes all "Princess Leia killing Jabba the Hutt" with the ring ropes?

I think I remember enjoying that match but 2007 WWE was so all-around godawful that I've mostly repressed those memories

Impact Wrestling is in Brussels, Belgium for their first European show tonight.

Pretty good turnout for TNA

I think Johnny's face on that GTS was more of an "I hope this move doesn't get botched" look. Like he was concentrating to make sure it hit fine.

For the most part the Raw writers don't know what to do with anyone, especially mid carders, since Kane was basically dragged up from the mid card it shouldn't have come as much of a surprise, maybe they had a quick brainstorming session for the feud like...

Writer 1: "So who is this Kane guy again? I don't watch Smackdown, actually I don't watch wrestling, Vince hired me for that exact reason"
Writer 2: "Some old bald dude, any ideas of what to do? i'm new here anyway due to high writer turnover"
Writer 1: "lets check wikipedia...hey it says he used to wear a mask"
Writer 2: "BRAINWAVE, Put the mask back on"
Writer 1: "GENIUS! Also we've got to put Cena outside of the title picture for a while"
Writer 2: *spits out coffee* "what the hell do we do now?! how does this even work?!"
Writer 1: "Hang on, we can kill two birds with one stone, Kane and Cena until Dwayne turns up, just continue going through that wikipedia article I showed you and we'll build the feud from there, apparently fire, divas living or dead and red light bulbs are a thing with this guy"
Writer 2:"Wait, weren't we supposed to be putting Kane in a feud with Mark Henry? those SD guys were adamant that it made sense from a booking perspective"
Writer 1:"Who cares, this script is going to go through 10 more rewrites before raw airs anyway..."
Vince: "my ears are burning dammit! share my ideas with the rest of the 20 writers who shall all be ignored, now anyway back to you Hunter, you were saying?"
HHH: "Well about that CM Punk plotline....."

Ring of Honor has announced Davey Richards vs Jay Lethal for the ROH World Title at their next tv taping February 4th. That should be a good one as it sounds like their first match at the Homecoming event was good.

At this point, I'd just like to say that Jay Lethal cannot get to the WWE soon enough to suit me. For months, he was the only real consistent reason to watch TNA I could find. He's fantastic and deserves the big time...

Now that Evan Bourne is out of the picture WWE has room for a flippy mid-carder.

The change was him becoming new, slightly edgier Cena.

Anyways, if you didn't already, watch this match WrassleGAF;

La Sombra (c) vs Volador Jr. - (NJPW 01/22/12)

Just a really fun main event from two great luchadores. La Sombra is such an impressive high-flyer, he does some seriously amazing stuff, but Volador can go high risk too and is such a complete package he's really the perfect foil for La Sombra's gravity defying acrobatics (that Asai Senton at 20:54 is pretty unbelievable, as he's jumping backwards but flipping forwards).

Thanks Bootaaay for your uploads, wish more matches in CMLL where one fall, 1 on 1, anyway, La Sombra became the replacement for Mystico and he's doing a good work, glad Volador Jr. is rudo, he did a great work against Mystico some years ago.

it will have to happen eventually.

Dude is only 26 but he has been around the block.

seems like a perfect guy for WWE's need for new young talent.

They will probably just move Justin Gabriel to RAW.

He fills the same void.

Zack Rydar is one of the worst actors in the WWE. His backstage segments and mic skills are cringe worthy which is odd because hes pretty good on his web show.

Also Swagger has to be the most bland and boring guy on the roster. Just his name "Jack Swagger The All American AMerican" is as bland and boring as a jobber on WWF Superstars in the early 90's.

Oh okay. Is there really anything dreadfully wrong about going over 20,000? I know it is the limit for an OT, but does going over it automatically put a stress on the servers?

I know it does something to the forums, someone explained it when we had to make an OT2 before but I forget.

Plus it will be much easier to proactively create a Rumble thread instead of having to make a new thread during the PPV.

Hell, we might even still break 20k without the Rumble. We still have Smackdown tapings and airings, TNA, a Dragon Gate USA PPV and the post Rumble RAW in January.

Just saw Raw and thought it was a good show. I'm so glad they turned Michael Cole's heel character way down. He didn't make any insults at all it seems like last night, even though Lawler kept trying to bait him in to going off. I bet a huge angle is probably going down next week on Raw.

No D. Brine last night to enrage him.

Actually there was very little Smackdown presence at all.
Just Wade Barrett and Ginger/Mahal

.

My assumption is that he's actually pretty good when he can go off the cuff, but flounders whenever he has to stick to a script, especially one written by WWE writers that don't do those subtle nuances that Ryder does in his own show, which makes his delivery all stilted and overblown.

Watch it on youtube. It's comedy gold.

Punk vs Jericho

End of the World

Yes to both of these. Rydar wouldn't be in my top 1000 picks to start a company :/

I have no idea how Swagger has a job in the WWE while a guy like Jay Lethal does not. He looks like the biggest goof I have ever seen.

Somebody call my momma...............how long before Brodus's gimmick is played out? I am already tired of his entrance.

Y2J has surprised me upon his return. I didn't think he cared anymore. He does, and I am actually feeling nostalgic for all he has done in his career.

Yep, his character is off on Raw but on ZTLIS he seems much more natural.

Not really, but since the Rumble is going to be at least 4 to 5,000 posts (mostly people counting down and marking out, lol), we'd have to make an entirely new OT2 post for the last two days of the month anyways. Better to simply create something for the Rumble (as an event all its own) and the follow up Raw than to have just one post for the follow-up Raw before Feb.

My math before had us getting to 20,000 posts on the 28th. We're not posting at that rate anymore, but TNA + Smackdown + Dragon Gate USA should add at least 1,000 more posts to the pot, plus our usual jibba-jabba. So pre-Rumble, we'd be around 17,000 posts and post-Rumble, close to 21,000-22,000.

Starting to watch RAW again(missed last hour). Isnt this Punk/Ace feud the same scenario as Cena/Nexxus feud when Punk didnt win clean like drig drag has been winning...

sorry for my rambling...

Looking forward to the Rumble. Any posting yet of the order or is it Random like it is and show the pissed off look ala Demolition that one year..lol

Come to think of it, I didn't even notice, lol:

As you may have noticed during this past weeks episode of RAW, WWE didn't speak at all about Twitter. The only promoting of Twitter was the graphics that appeared on the screen of trending topics. F4Wonline.com is reporting that word coming from backstage is that WWE has had a change of heart and is pulling back on the heavy promotion of Twitter.

Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler are both in need of a great manager. Unfortunately, the shrieking, spasming harpy they have now is somehow even less than a godawful manager.

Ziggler doesn't necessarily need a manager. I think he's grown enough on his mic work he's fully capable of hanging it on his own as a top level heel. If Vickie were somebody like a great, funny sidekick in the vain of Ricardo Rodriguez, sure, but she's not like him. She fits fine for somebody like Swagger, though.

I wish the Brain, Jimmy Hart or Sensational Sherri was still there.....They would rule the E with them as a manager..

Swagger looks like a semi retarded kid and talks like one too.

I actually went to middle school with Rydar too. Its a pretty sad state in WWE when Rydar is one of the most over stars in the company now, but good for him while striking the iron while its hot. Playing off the Jersey Shore with a LI club gimmick. He also got the word Broski from this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5QJ9i_o5vo its old but hes doing this gimmick at the perfect time.

And I agree with you about Clay. The first time I saw it was funny than the next few time its looks like he has zero rhythm while dancing. This sort of "funk" gimmick only works well if the character has rhythm while dancing. Like Cat, Flash Funk and Rikishi. Kishi has more rhythm is his left ass cheek than Brodus in his entire body.
